The Official Author's Hangout 2013 Halloween Contest Support Thread

Congrats to the winners. Maybe I'm a bit relieved that I didn't enter my story because I didn't have time to develop it properly (I went to Disney World with my grandkids so sue me). Against such great competition, I need to produce my best writing. I had a good plot that will only work for Halloween so I will spend all year polishing it for 2014. You've been warned.

Ooh! Shakin' in my boots! ;) Don't actually own boots, BTW.

Disney World is my favorite place. It's the only place that totally caters to my family's food allergies. Dairy, egg, peanut, tree nut, tomatoes, shellfish... They're hard to feed.

Beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts!

Lee

Congrats to the Winners

Well.... the sweeps really raised my score... but sadly... it wasn't enough. :(

Oh well... I tried and regardless of what the fake contest poster called me... I am still proud of my work. I had a great score but Tx Tall Tales beat me fair and square (even my editor said your story was amazing and feared you'd beat me.) Well... maybe next year I'll get lucky.

Thanks to everyone who voted and read my story.

I don't know about any fake poster, but you certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. I enjoyed reading your story - a great premise and excellent writing - and I rated it high.

In my opinion the bar was set very high too - at least compared to a normal month worth of Lit submissions. Most of the participants clearly gave it their a-game and it added up to an impressive collection of stories. I dare say the competition was... ...stiff.

This being my first time participating I don't know if this is normally the case.

I also wanted to congratulate the winners!

I didn't expect to win, as Don't Answer the Door! was the first story I've ever written. But I was surprised to receive more than 30,000 views and wanted to thank everyone who took the time to read, vote and comment on mine and all of the entries in the Halloween contest.

I consider the red H on my story a cool consolation prize, and congratulations again to the three winners!

It was in regards to the A.I.R. contest posts and the "person" who posts those contest that have no link. He called me a "same old, same old."

I will admit my work can be somewhat predictable... but I actually try to mix things up. But what can I say... I like a good love story.

And thanks for you comment. You're right... this year the competition was really "stiff." :D

Nymph, don't apologize 1) you are actually writing. and 2) he is the KING of same old same old. Same old posts, same old stolen images, same old whining, blah blah blah.

Put him on ignore and keep on writing!

I suspect that he has said that to just about every regular contributor to this forum. Consider yourself in excellent company. In his case, being resented is an honor.:D

runs in, jumps into the chair, types super quickly-

"congrats to the winners"

- runs back out. Damn I hate working out of town, not time to even spit.

Congratulations to the winners! :)

Amen to that. I harbored no illusions about winning as "Vampiress, Mine" was my third submission to Literotica. I'm like Seanathon here in that I was totally floored with coming out of the contest with so many views and votes, getting above a 4.5, and receiving the red H. :) Thank you to everyone who took the time to read and vote!

For those who have asked via comments; yes there is now a second installment in the works.

So see you all in the Winter Contest, yes? ;)
