Sorry, didn't mean to slack off. However, we had school start last week, and a busy weekend and somewhere in there I got a little sick. Anyway -- time to break out the brooms and candy corn, for the Halloween contest!

Go on, be a devil. Or at least, devilish.

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22
winners announced: October 29

I have one almost finished. I thought I had it finished but realized the ending would not work.

Back to the drawing board.

quite frankly this seems a bit early to get into another contest but what the heck...

just want to let all you halloweeners know that as in all themed contests a.i.r. will be awarding another MANU Award,. this one will be the twenty-first and the lucky winner will be joining this group of literotica superstars...

if you want to participate in the nomination or voting process all you have to do is be a member in good standing of a.i.r....

LITEROTICA’S LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD

The Board of Directors of the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.) decided some time ago that it would be appropriate to honor one of the giants of LITEROTICA fiction at the end of each of the Special Themed A.I.R. Contests.

They decided to call this new prize, one they believe will soon become emblematic of erotic fiction excellence and the most respected author’s award in the genre, the MANU. This name of course honors the first PRINCE of erotic fiction, a man who’s become a giant in the field of erotic publishing.

Doing some research into ghost hunting equipment for mine. There's quite a variety of technology out there for catching EVPs and ghostly images.

Now I just have to decide between the three locations I have in mind . . . .

I'm excited for this. I've got 2 finished, and one more in the works.

I've got a mother/son story in a haunted house. I really like it.

And I've got 2 nonconsent stories. One about a ballet dancer who will do anything for a role. And the other about an undercover police detective.

None of them reference Halloween. Either ghosts or masks.

Wow, this seems early. I figured we would at least wait to get the summer results.

I have a bunny, but it would be pretty heavy for the site, would probably tank score wise, but tempted to see what I would get for feedback.

Researching ghost hunting equipment is pretty interesting stuff. Now I just hope I don't confuse ghost boxes for K2 meters and have my laser grids set to the wrong settings. :p

Got my location, my characters, and a pretty solid idea of what's going to happen. It's the ending I'm not sure of.

Okay, I'm interested already.

I like to change things up from contest to contest just to make it interesting. Thought I might tackle the nonhuman category this time around.

I understand the whole it can't really be an animal (no bestiality I got that) but how weird is considered too weird for that category? Take into consideration I'm not really concerned about what my score may end up being.

To give a hint I'm thinking along the lines of insect-like sub human, say a cross between 'Splice' and 'Jeepers Creepers'

After all, Halloween should be the contest where you push the edge of darkness and :D as the darkness pushes back.

"Halloween is closer than you think."

The magnet is on my fridge. The wife and I are kinda giant freaks over this holiday, and the countdown begins for us in August. Like August 1st.

Odd, I know, you might see us with some of the cooks on the travel channel one day in October. Anyway, for me, its never too early to think Halloween.

Lots of plots in my head for this contest. I think that's my problem is picking a good one to suit the contest. Hopefully one will spin into form, and hopefully I'll have the time to pen it out this time, what with our hectic fall schedule.

And I think I agree with you Tarot. This should be the contest where we can push the dark stuff to the brink and beyond.

I now have three ideas, two parties, old for the older crowd and one for the younger, and one with a warlock, which is also going to a party. Duh, I think I see a recurring theme here.

Another incomplete story from last year. A little more than 1/2 done. I swear, somehow, I'm gonna finish this one. If I do, I have yet another Gor Halloween story lined up. Not sure if I'll enter it in the contest. Plus, I had an outline for a Mr.E adventure that occurs on Halloween. So much to choose from... Now I just have to find the time.

Working on the first one now.

I did finish the next chapter in the 2 Moms, 2 Laps saga, and it's undergoing edit. So I don't feel to bad working on something else.

Contest rules say no chapters to already existing stories. However, I see nothing forbidding a new plotline or set of characters from one of one's existing universes so that's what I'm writing. This one is inspired by Vincent Price's House of Wax and the bubbling vat.

I think I wrote a story in my sleep last night. Now to get it typed out. One of the party stories ends up in a graveyard and the world gets saved.

No more spicy food before bedtime.

Oooo. The first (and possibly the last) scary movie I ever saw.

I'm contemplating whether or not to enter one of my "The Schlange" (the snake) series. I have a few of those I haven't posted to Literotica. Some I have, including "Bite of the Schlange," "Escape of the Schlange," and "Masque Macabre."

I have one started but it's a long way off from even drafted. Hoping I'll have it ready in time.

There's nothing against it in the rules, but god forbid if you place.

Kinda working on something...

Hi everyone,

I have a character I'm writing an intro story about to post so that I wasn't introducing a completely new character for the contest. Is using an already established character in a different story against the rules?

The story that I'm working on doesn't have any sex in it. A lot of provocative stuff and some humor with the main theme being masturbation/voyeurism with a speculative bend. I'm not sure if I should continue working on it and post it here. (or adapt it so at least someone gets laid!) Thoughts? Thanks from a virgin in advance!

No, but if reading the intro story is necessary to understand what's going on in the contest story, it's going to hurt you in the readership department. People don't like to feel as if they're being dropped into the middle of a story. And that would actually be a chapter, regardless of how it's titled. The key is "complete story".

You're going to have to do at least a limited re-introduction of your character so readers starting with that story "get" them. They need a starting point within the story they're reading in order to see how the character grows and changes by the end.

The story you enter needs to stand on it's own two feet. Previous stories can provide a deeper insight into characters, but the readers have to know who they are within the tale you're telling for the contest, or they're going to back-click.

If the intro story doesn't really go anywhere, that's going to hurt the contest story as well. It needs to stand on its own two feet as a complete story as well.

I'm hoping to finish my aborted first FAWC attempt and submit that. With some changes. I'd like to try to make it scary or creepy. Or write two! Ha! That's a good one, shea.

^&% @#)& #$( &^ # &%$^(& #@!& #@!& #@!& . . . .

I keep starting and stopping, looking for that hook that's gonna get the ball rolling. Why is it so hard this time?

*sigh*

Thanks everyone!

Thank you everyone for responding. RejectReality, I should have said that I always make my short stories 'stand alone' since you can't guarantee that anyone has read your 1st one.

Thinking about it, I may table my current WIP (work in progress) to work on the Halloween one so I can actually submit it in a timely matter. If they are 'stand-alones' It doesn't matter anyway. My main character is going to a wild Halloween party. With some modifications to make himself look more human, he'll fit right in!

Thanks again,
TittyBear
