Congrats to the other winners and to all that participated.

Voting was weird in this contest but what else is new. My score and number of votes was like a yo-yo. The final Hoover or two surprised the hell out of me.

boo hoo

I wasn't going to post anymore because I was at a perfect 69 posts but it seems fair to share my numbers in order to compete for the coveted last place. Since I am a novice writer I don't feel the least bit ashamed. In fact this contest helped raise the score of my other story and I am amazed at the total number of views. I'm quite certain I didn't click onto Casting Couch more than 30 times. 100x?

My score is 3.51 with 51 votes and 15,669 views (69!)

Bring it on summer contest. Bring it on!

Hey Kiana,
I know what you mean - I was amazed after the hoover went through how much my score went up.

So many haters out there! My views were way down from the last contest, and I think it's because there were some trolls who voted the story down during that crucial first week because my story lost it's H for a few days before getting it back, but by then the story had lost its appeal on the first few pages in the new story section. Those votes were quickly hoovered a few days later so I'm glad the system works - good to know it lost its H because of the haters, not because of the story. I don't have enough stories to have any loyal stalkers--I mean fans.

Congratulations to the winners. :D As Mia Erotica says, bring on the summer Livin' Contest.

I should spend more time in the forums - every time I learn so much. It's embarrassing to say I didn't even know how the 'H' works - the 10 votes and a 4.5 average. Eight friggin' years sporadically spewing and I don't even know the process! D'oh!

Surprised as heck that I won the thing. Didn't really expect an 8 chapter story, or a Loving Wives entry to win.

Just for the sake of info:

That was today, so it's probably not the scores that were used for comparison.

Now I feel guilty from all the emails from readers griefing (is that really a word?) me for writing two more stories before completing any of my half-finished series.

Congrats to the winners. :)

My scores were:

4.48 178 19691

24 PC's.

It was never a contender, but lots of great PC's and it stayed in the 'most public feedback' lists for a while, so I was happy.

For those with moans about voting... Contests are rife with political voting. I had an entry a couple of years ago that stayed at 4.89/4.91 for most of the contest, then, in the last day, it got hit with several low votes and dropped enough to be out of contention. Coincidence? I think not. But that's the nature of contests. Enter for the exposure, not for a chance of winning. You'll get less pissed off that way. ;)

Last Place, anyone?

Anyone want to put in a claim for the Last Place (tm) Contest virtual award?

You can see from the ratings given above who is the current front-runner, but is anyone willing to put forward their story for the Last Place?

Tempting as it is, my friend, I don't qualify. Mid-table obscurity again, although I do seem to have received quite a few more votes than a lot of folk. Probably explained by the fact that when it posted, it was the first story in the 'New' list for almost a full day, and I received over 300 votes that day, peaking at 555 before the hoovering.

Final result: 4.66 431 45342 with 23 PCs and a few emails.

Here's my stats today for my story, A Promise is a Promise. More than twice the votes from the last contest. More than four time the amount of views than the last contest. But, the score is lower than the last contest. Numbers are funny that way.

I was very happy to see more people voting and even happier to think that almost 18,000 people have clicked on my story. All of these numbers just amaze me. I'm just one little person here.

So, thanks to the voters and the viewers.

Now....who is in contention for last place, Og?

The lower of my two was pretty low, but not as low as this one by Mia Erotica:
ETA More specificly, my score on "Nude Softball" was 3.57 with 60 votes and five PC and 16,508 views. The views might have increased since the contest ended but nothing else has changed. The story had no sex at all andf was strictly E/V,

boo hoo

Feh! Mia has skunked me for last place.

'Threadbare' wound up with a score of 3.62, 52 votes and 13, 076 views as of 07/22/09. I received 10 PC's, all positive, and some complimentary e-mails.

I'm ready for the Summer Story Contest. :D

I didn't win the last place (tm) award. Look at the post just above yours.

the loser speaks

I don't feel supported. It would be nice if someone said that I didn't deserve to get last place. Could you throw me a bone, please? I feel sad.

Mia, no one deserves to get last place. An anthology of Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) losing stories would be a good read (unless it included my last place stories before I started the contest).

You can't avoid it.

Congratulations!

The winner of the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Nude Day Contest 2009 is

mia-erotica

who can now add a suitably modest banner to her signature to recognise the enormity of her achievement.

Hey Mia,

My numbers are certainly lower than yours, I just choose not to post them, I'm not sure if I will submit anymore stories, I haven't been to happy with the way things work around here.

So, if it makes you feel any better, you prolly don't deserve last place. :)

The winner is the person who admits to their low score.

There have been many shy authors who have declined to participate in the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Contests.

In real life, many famous authors would have won last place with at least one work. Some were saved because they (and/or their editors) suppressed them.

Examples:
1. Somerset Maugham's first novel was a hit. His second was and is a stinker that has no value 110 years later. His third and subsequent novels were popular.
2. Lawrence Durrell's TUNC was a flop. His revised version also flopped.
3. C S Forester, he of Captain Hornblower, omitted all reference to his earlier non-fiction pot-boiling histories and tried to suppress them.
4. Georgette Heyer bought the surplus stock of her medieval romances e.g. Simon the Coldheart, and hoped that they would never be republished.

Last Place winners have an illustrious set of predecessors.

Hi, Mia. You are the person who admitted to finishing last. There are probably others who finished lower, but aren't admitting it. And, you didn't finish all that far below me. .06 points, to be exact.

A few years ago, I won two last place (tm) awards. One of them has had an H, but it has been trolled since then and dropped off that list. :(

Of course you didn't deserve last place - it is a rite of passage and Ogg gives you a . . . perhaps you're right to feel upset.

Serious, your story is great.
