The Nude Day Contest Support Thread

DG, Thanks. You'e a sweetie.

I printed it. I certainly don't want to miss the next contest so I can, again, have mediocre scores and medicore comments, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah.

hahah, nice sins... I'm feelin' ya!

Bump to keep Ogg happy

Ogg's not happy? Let's throw him a party! I'll bring the cake. Maybe a girl can pop out it. She can be covered in frosting and you guys can line up to lick off what or where you want to. How's that sound? Sound like a party?

wooot! party!

Tomorrow will be party day.

Tomorrow will also be "Who wants to admit their story might win the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Nude Day 2009 Contest" day...

...but I'd still like some virtual cake.

Real cake is bad for me (which is why I wear it on my head instead of eating it).

Contest almost over. Congrats to whomever wins. It's been fun, hoover has been through a few times. LOL
DG:)

Winners Announced?

Ogg, when and where will the winners be announced? I can't seem to find it out here anywhere. I'm also getting ready to stand in line for your last place award.

The winners are announced on the front page of Literotica when Laurel and/or Manu have done a final sweep. I don't know when that is - when convenient to them in their time zone.

As for the Last Place (tm) Contest:

Last Place Contest

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided.
Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Og (whose decision is final unless you all gang up on me)

How do you know how many or what kind of votes you received? (I'm new here:D)

Hi, Daisy, and welcome to Literotica and the AH. If you have a very low score, it means you have gotten some "1" votes and if you have a very high score, it means you have gotten a high proportion of "5" votes. The only way to keep track of individual votes would be to monitor your score closely and determine what individual votes do to the score of a story, which most of us are not interested enough to keep track of.

If you have posted a new story and you look and see it has a score of 4.50 with two votes, that means you have a four and a five. That is the only way you could come up with that score. If you look later, and see your score has dropped to 4.33 with three votes, it means your third vote was a four, because that's the only way that score could have resulted.

Later, if that same story has a score of 4.25 with 20 votes, you really have no way of knowing just what those votes were. However, if you look a few minutes later and see a 21st vote has been cast and your score is now 4.14, you can multiply and subtract and see the 21st vote was a "2".

As I said, most of us are interested in what people thinkl of our work, but not enough to monitor the score closely enough to see what individual votes were.

ETA: If you are just asking how to tell how many voters you have and what the average is, that info is on your jpersonal index page.

I think Daisy was asking about Ogg's calculation. If you have more then two or three votes, weighting the score as Ogg suggests would be pretty hard to do.

If, after the last sweep, you have the 25 minimum votes necessary to qualify for the main contest, you don't need to use my formula. Your rating remains unchanged.

If you (or your story) are so unpopular that you don't get 25 votes then my formula applies.

How you check your rating? Go to your member's page, look at submissions, and you will see the number of views, votes and rating. If you go there frequently enough you can work out what the last vote was.

Og

PS. Anyone with no votes at all must be at least an equal winner of the Last Place (tm) Contest because zero votes divided or multiplied by anything is still zero. I have come close to achieving that!

I'm not sure what you mean by "weighting" because Ogg said nothing about that. To win a cash prize, an author must have at least 25 votes and, if there are fewer than that, the author will not win anything, regardless of the average score.

As for the uncoveted Last Place (tm) award, that is calculated by adjusting the score by the total number of votes received, if that total is lower than 25.

Even with only two votes, you can't always tell what those votes were. An average score of 4.00 could result from two votes of "4" or a three and a five. If your score is very high or very low, sometimes you can tell what the individual votes are, even if there were many of them. 100 votes resulting in a score or 4.99 would be 99 votes of five and one vote of four. A score of 1.01 from 100 votes would result from one generous person voting you a "2" and 99 people dropping one-bombs.

I just want to know who won and who lost, so I can get going on my next masterpiece. The day is almost over! When is the big announcement going to be?

When L & M get around to it. They have a life also. Well, I guess they do.

2.47 pm on Sunday 19th over here. Man it sucks being so far ahead of time - makes me feel like I'm on some weird daylight savings waiting for the rest of the world to catch up!

Congrats to all the winners - didn't see that coming. I thought Drawing Allegra would be in the top 3.

Congratulations to the Winners!

Congrats to the winners! This was a fun one and I'm glad I entered. But gosh darnit - I think I just barely missed the top three!

Here are my story stats for "Angel Wings"
4.74 : 65 votes : 9646 views : 15 comments

Not as many votes or views as my Earth Day story (Saved from Extinction) but a higher score.

I think the story that got 3rd scored 4.76 the last time I checked. Yeah, it stings because I was *so* close! And I said I didn't care how I did in the contest because my fave author (the very talented Zuzuspetals) commented that she loved the story, but I'll admit, that was before the hoover came through and raised my score. Now that I know how close I was, I realize how much I wanted to win!

But I extend a warm congratulations to the three winners - great job! :D

Hey Kiana,
I know what you mean - I was amazed after the hoover went through how much my score went up. Got me all excited for a minute there.

Here are my stats for "No More Beige"
4.74 : 181 votes : 13996 views : 17 comments.

Was wonderful getting all the feedback and overall a fun/nervous exercise.

Congrats again to the winners!

Congratulations! It's a great feeling

Congratulations to the three winners. I know what it's like having had the good fortune to place in past contests.

I was intrigued by the fluctuation in the scores during the hoovering. My final total number of votes was 124 less than the high water mark (555 down to 431) but I was never in danger of challenging the winners, although my score did go up rather than down.

I raise my breakfast cuppa to the three of you.

Alex

Congrats to the Winners. They are all well deserved. My story ended up with 4.14 and 107 votes. The highest score yet for one of my contest entries.

I agree, congrats to the winners and to everyone who entered the contest. My stories took a slight bump (up) but never in contention Too low to win, too high for Ogg's award. Right there in the middle as usual.
With respect

Congratulations to the winners of the Nude Day popularity contest. I see nothing has changed around here.

How many wins is that for you, TxRad 7 or 8? That's amazing considering the number of entries in the contest and the number of writers who have entered previous contests.

Only, there were a dozen stories better than your story that deserved to win.

Hey, I don't give a flying fuck anymore because I no longer write for this site, but for the rest of you writers who poured your hearts out and worked so hard on your story, it sucks.

Still, it's not the contest, it's writing the story that's important.

Can I make my predictions on who will win the Summer Lovin' contest? I suspect it's already in the bag.

Whose turn is it this time, TxRad?

The Fat Lady Sings!

Congrats to the Win, Place, and Show contestants. It's just too bad that there could only be three winners. There were a lot more great stories in there than three.
