This iteration of the United States Supreme Court is the most appalling and destructive one we've ever seen. After striking down Roe v Wade after 50 years of "settled law", as all of the Republican-appointed justices had affirmed during their confirmation hearings. After taking up Trump's claim of absolute presidential immunity and slow-walking it. This court is now determined to allow and empower racially-motivated congressional gerrymandering. It's absolutely disgusting and unAmerican, and there's not a goddamn thing we can do about it.

The most disgusting part is your ignorance of the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and its purpose. The SCOTUS does not exist to amend the Constitution to conform to the policy agendas of the looney left or right every time it gets a bright idea about what is right or wrong. That is the job of the states and the people therein. Roe v Wade was never settled law it was constantly challenged everywhere. That's how it got back before the Court. The SCOTUS is there to interpret the Constitution according to text, history, and tradition, not the “freestanding ‘interest-balancing’ approach” that has been used by the left for years to create illusionary penumbras in the Constitution that justify social policies clearly unsupported by the black letter text of the Constitution. Yes, it's way past time to get back to "amending" the Constitution by the states instead of warring in the Senate to put a new policy-driven leftist on the court to advance what the majority of Americans would not support.

There actually is something you can do about it.

It's called acceptance.

The left is its own worst enemy when it comes to abortion rights. They're too dumb to be in government:

NY Judge Orders Removal of Proposed Constitutional Amendment Protecting Abortion From State Ballot

By Matt Funicello | 2:20 PM on May 08, 2024

Amendment removed on a technicality.
Overwhelming public support for abortion in NY passed very swiftly.
NY Attorney General needed to decide whether the amendment was "constitutional" (which it certainly was) but NY didn't wait for the AG opinion. The opinion that the amendment WOULD be constitutional (duh!) arrived five days after the ballot was approved.

Conservatives jumped at a chance to delay the will of the people.

Anyone who thinks the state of New York is going to ban abortion anytime soon does not have a clear grasp of reality.
Abortion remains legal in NY State and will be protected by a state amendment in the next election cycle post-2024.

Enjoy your "victory", Gunny Shitpants.

I don't agree that this court is the most corrupt in history.

This has nothing to do with the thread.
It has to do with "abortion" that SF was so concerned about. The left lives in a fantasy world of emotion and incompetence that completely cripples their ability to understand the real world, like the rulings of the SCOTUS and any other set of judges that rule against their various superstitions in law.

The thread is about SCOTUS

We can continue to point to it, identify it as unacceptable, and not let it be normalized or shoved under the carpet.

The section of the video where John McCain says (and I’m paraphrasing)- “it would be a PRIVATE family matter if then 15 year old Megan McCain had gotten pregnant, and that Megan would have had the final say” - was astonishing.

PRIVACY??? ABORTION???

Who woulda thought???

😑

Most of the federal government's power is now in the bureaucrats of the executive branch. Not the president, not Congress, not SCOTUS. When any of those people try to assert or regain some power, the bureaucrats mobilize and propagandize to protect their turf.

Starting with the EPA!

At Justice Alito’s House, a ‘Stop the Steal’ Symbol on Display

After the 2020 presidential election, as some Trump supporters falsely claimed that President Biden had stolen the office, many of them displayed a startling symbol outside their homes, on their cars and in online posts: an upside-down American flag.

One of the homes flying an inverted flag during that time was the residence of Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., in Alexandria, Va., according to photographs and interviews with neighbors.

The upside-down flag was aloft on Jan. 17, 2021, the images showed. President Donald J. Trump’s supporters, including some brandishing the same symbol, had rioted at the Capitol a little over a week before. Mr. Biden’s inauguration was three days away. Alarmed neighbors snapped photographs, some of which were recently obtained by The New York Times.

Alito is openly partisan.

That's the problem, more than half the court is openly partisan, blatantly activist- and utterly ignoring the Constitution when it comes to the Bill of Rights, the Fourtheenth Amendment, and the clause of separation of powers.

Basically, it's a rogue court, with little legitimacy according to the Constitution as envisioned by it's founders. And guess whose appointees three of the most blatant rogue, partisan and activist justices are?

Mitch McConnell's. At least in part. Douchebag. Hope he dies slowly and painfully.

Dude, protecting the environment from pollution and toxins happens to be the one and only federal bureaucracy that actually does GOOD in this country. Or, would you prefer toxic drinking water, polluted air, contaminated soil and bulldozed/clearcut natural areas? Most, if not all, decent people would NOT prefer these things.

Hey, they just upheld, on a 7-2 decision, in an incorrect decision on the power of the administrative state. How corrupt are they now, assholes, or is it only on decisions you dislike?

They're still really, really fucking corrupt. But maybe they actually care about their legacy, so occasionally they actually make the correct decision.

Be specific or begone.
