:nana: Congratulations to us! :D If you're a mom-to-be, bring your Saltines and Prenatal vitamins and come sit and have a chat about everything baby-related. :D Oh . . and don't forget the Kleenex.

ETA: Experienced moms welcome, too . . . share your pregnancy stories!

Update on my little stranger: We found out that it's a boy on July 5th (as you can tell from the ticker) :) He was very unashamed about letting us see what his gender was. *snicker* I felt him kick for the first time on July 3rd and, so far, it's just kind of tickly. It hasn't started to get uncomfortable . . . though, he did manage to keep me up for an entire night, doing it.

Anyway, that's the latest on my guy. :)

I sympathy puke for her.

Can't wait to find out what we are having but we feel its a boy...whichever it is we will still be happy. :rose:

Congrats to you Applemom.

Thanks, Sammom. Same to ya! :D Ugh, she has morning sickness? Poor thing. I was lucky enough to just get morning nausea. Many saltines her way.

I know what you mean! We were sooo impatient to find out the sex. Not that it mattered -- we would've been happy with either -- but, it just makes shopping for the papoose a whole lot easier. One can only have so much yellow in their wardrobe. lol :)

Got room for a Mom, period?

Sammi, love- tell Vana to try cold water with a slice of lemon in it. Worked like a charm for me- as did sucking on lemon slices.

Of course, I tried a ton of other things before I found that one- six months into my third pregnancy. A spoonful of peanut butter first thing n the morning helped with my first one about 3/4 of the time.

Yeah, I can see that being hard to come by, with baby clothes. But, you might have some luck with Hot Topic's website. They have some cute, black baby clothes there. We saw a onesie that we really want, on that website, that says, "Sleep is for the Weak." :)

I have zero experience and not gonna be a Mom anytime soon....just wanted to wish you all the best Apple :rose:

Congrats!

I'll put the woman on that now...thanks!!

Congrats!

Thank you, sweets! :rose:  :)

ginger is meant to be good for morning sickness...a ginger biscuit in bed (well, not IN the bed) is meant to be very good. (*whispers* I never suffered with it)

oooh and my biggest piece of advice:

eat lots of :nana: (non dancing variety) as it is the only damn thing to stave off crippling leg cramps (that was the worst bit of my pregnancy)

I'm so excited, I'm giddy!

After you're done eating, after each meal, spend half an hour lying on your left side as it allows the baby to get more nutriments that way.

Congrats to you!!!!

I loved being pregnant....I ate so much pasta! Now that's my son's favorite food!!!!

Thank you for the thread, Apple :rose:

I knew I was pregnant from the moment of conception... it was ultimately strange really. (In fact, we only did a pregnancy test a week ago, so sure were we) Oh, and doing a long-distance pregnancy test is good fun... (you try and pee on a stick while holding the phone to your ear when both of you are equally excited, half hysterical, a little nervous, and very much in love ;)

The first three weeks I was exhausted... couldn't get enough sleep, and even when I did, I was still exhausted. And then the morning sickness started. No comment, except for - I do not know why it is called morning sickness if it happens 24/ 7.

Happy sigh... New Life

I can't take credit -- the idea was Sam's. :rose: But, YW, just the same. :)

I can't imagine doing the test long distance -- that would be interesting, to say the least. :) We took the test in our bathroom and stood there, waiting for the digital display on the stick to say "Not Pregnant," as it had so many times in the past. I mean, we had been together for 10 years and in that time, had had sooo many pregnancy scares. We thought we *might* be pregnant, but in the back of our minds, I think we were just expecting the stick to say, "Not Pregnant." When, after a few seconds, the stick said "Pregnant," I think we were in shock. Then, we were on cloud 9. :D

Boy, I can relate to the exhaustion. The entire first trimester, I had to take a nap at about 3pm every day, because I was just spent. I'm doing better with the sleepiness, now, in the 2nd trimester, but I still go to bed much earlier than I ever had before. Thankfully, I never got morning sickness, but I know what you mean. It's ALL DAY sickness. *nods*

I second that sigh. :)

The book No More Morning Sickness is a wonderful resource for anyone dealing with first (and other) trimester misery. I just picked up another used copy through BN.com. I highly recommend it.

Logo can start doing cross country trips to help with all the AH birthin' ;)

For morning sickness:

Eat small meals throughout the day so that you're never too full or too hungry.
Avoid rich, fatty and spicy foods.
Avoid foods with smells that bother you.
Eat more carbohydrates (plain baked potato, white rice, dry toast).
Eat saltine crackers and other bland foods when you feel nauseous.
Try gelatin desserts (Jell-O), flavored frozen desserts (popsicles), chicken broths, ginger ale (nondiet), sugared decaffeinated or herbal teas, and pretzels.
The iron in prenatal vitamins can bother some women. If you think your morning sickness is related to your vitamins, talk with your doctor and he or she may change your vitamins.
Wearing "acupressure" wrist bands, which are sometimes used by passengers on boats to prevent sea sickness, may help some women who have morning sickness. You can buy the bands at boating stores or travel agencies.

For heartburn (that usually comes later):

Eat small meals but often.
Don't drink, when you eat and don't eat when you drink - wait at least 30 minute.
Herbal teas with chamomile, fennel or peppermint can be helpful.
Never lay down after you eat
Cucumbers, almonds and milk can help to reduce burning while giving your some important nutrients. Try papaya enzymes, too!

I may have to bookmark this thread and return to it in a few years :) So much useful advice here.

Until then, congratulations and best wishes to all you expecting parents :rose:
