Anyone ever see the interview with the three Manson women who were convicted of the Tate and Labianca murders? They are all in their early 50s. I started to feel sorry for them Because it was evident that they truly understood the horror of their crimes. But I caught myself as I remembered the brutality of what they did. :(

Did you write that right?

I started to feel sorry for them Because it was evident that they truly understood the horror of their crimes.

Or did you mean they didn't understand?

Those chicks were wacked. Still are as far as I am concerned.

The only strong memory I have of the incident is a press report of a heavily pregnat Sharon Tate screaming her life away as she begged them not to harm her baby, as they hacked open her stomach.

Or is that a false memory?

Did it really happen that way>

It seemed to me that they didnt understand the horror of what they did at the time, but now after being in prison for 30 plus years and realizing that they would never be parents and that they murdered a pregnant women they had a greater understanding of their actions. Actually they hanged Tate from a balcony and wrote the word PIG in her blood on the walls of the house. A good book to read is Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi who was the DA in LA who prosecuted the Manson clan. It is a very good account of what these people did quite detailed and at times extremely chilling.

Just becuase they now realize the enormity of what they did is no reason to feel sorry for them...regardless of their age, like Charlie himself they need to remain locked up.

Feel sorry for the family members. :(

I dont feel sorry for them, They are paying the consequences for their behavior, They should never be paroled. What I find interesting is that when this all came down I dont recall anyone making excuses for their behavior. Wonder how this would be handled in todays world?

Good point, they would more than likely get off easier. Charlie M. would most likely get the death penalty though. Is it reinstated in Ca?

I believe that CA reinstated the death penalty and have so far put at least one person to death. M

I remember seeing that fact in the book based on the
murders, "Helter Skelter"..........

Even today, I don't think they would get much, if any, sympathy. The severity of the crimes gives them no supporters, then or now. I hope that they wouldn't get off easier just because we're more 'modern'. It's good to see that they realize that they were responsible for those heinous crimes, but I hope that there's a hell for them to burn in. Those girls are still wackjobs!

If you can find it, there's a much better book on the subject by Ed Sanders, entitled The Family. Much better written, much more frightening, and not so self-serving as Bugliosi's Helter Skelter.

What do you think about squeaky Frome? The Manson supporter that tried to assassinate president Ford.

Squeaky is in jail for life. Wonder how she got the name Squeaky?

I have seen the shows on A&E about their parole hearings and the actual hearings themselves. Each time these women say they now realize what they did was wrong and that they have paid their debts to society and deserve another chance. Each time their hearings come up the remaining family members of the victims are forced to go and speak against it and relive the horror.

I say remaining because some of the parents of the victims have died. These families are still suffering. They suffer everytime they have to relive this tragedy. They have my sympathies but those that committed the crime never will.
