The Manor (RP Thread)

Sebastian followed the sound of the singing, and found himself looking through an open door at the female wolf, Elle. He watched for a moment, then cleared his throat. Then, to be silly, he started in on Cats' monologue. "How are you gentleman. All your base are belong to us. You have no chance to survive make your time. Ha ha ha." When she turned to look at him with an odd, puzzled, and slightly embarassed look, he shook his head. "Sorry, trying to make you laugh. House meeting, or at least, we're trying to get one."

----

Trey had managed to find no one since he'd started, until he checked the computer lab. There, sitting at one of the computers, was a mouse with white fur and green hair, sporting thick glasses. The surprise was, the mouse was female. He raised an eyebrow, then walked over silently, in that way that only a cat can, and then hissed in her ear. She leapt out of the chair, kicking him backwards in the process, and landed on the other side of a row of computers, looking out over the top. "WHAT THE HELL'S WRONG WITH YOU?" Trey slowly got back to his feet, then grinned. "Sorry, the whole cat/mouse thing. I'm Trey, and that guy, uh, Sebastian, wants everyone upstairs in the kitchen."

"I missed you," she said walking over to the big equine and giving him an enormous hug. Surely he was much taller and bigger than she but her arm hugged him around the waist and she hoped he would return the friendly gesture.

For a moment Murray stood shocked, Heart in his throat and brain taking a vacation, then slowly and very lightly he brought his arms about the tiny fox and brought her up to him. His arms closed with care, hugging her to him and letting her slip arms about his neck.

"I missed you too Murph. But what are you doing back here. I thought you wanted to go work at that hospital way out on the coast?" he shook his head a little and comfortably folding an arm under her butt to let her sit, they'd done this lots in the coffee shop her sitting on his arm to reach high places.

"Why'd you come back?"

"How are you gentleman. All your base are belong to us. You have no chance to survive make your time. Ha ha ha."

Elle looked up at the human that was there. Of course she had jumped when she heard that voice but she wasn't frightened. Just startled mostly and while she was terribly confused as to what he was talking about she had to smile at what he offered her next.

"Sorry, trying to make you laugh. House meeting, or at least, we're trying to get one."

"Oh alright," she said setting the baggage on the floor and lightly kicking the bag under her bed. "Sorry about that, I was just trying to get that all away so I could really get settled," she offered with a smile. "If you want to lead the way..."

Carmen had never been the most popular girl in the world, she was a bit of a computer freak and tended to be a wall flower. She was hardly noticed despite the green hair which was probably a subconscious attempt to get some kind of attention. She had the cute little nerd look going for her with her glasses and but she didn't have the 'required' pocket protector.

And then there was this momentary tingling and a sudden hiss in her ear.

She screamed, jumped, kicked at whoever had done that, and landed clear on the other side of the rom practically.

"WHAT THE HELL'S WRONG WITH YOU?"

"WITH ME?! WHAT ABOUT YOU?!" She yelled back.

"Sorry, the whole cat/mouse thing. I'm Trey, and that guy, uh, Sebastian, wants everyone upstairs in the kitchen."

"I'm Carmen..." She said looking up at Trey. "And why did you do that? Now my tail's all bent out of shape..." She said sadly trying to calm it down.

Sebastian nodded, then turned and stepped out of the doorway. He himself had most of his stuff unpacked, but he was getting some other stuff in the mail. He didn't know that some of it was already there, but he'd find out soon. As the young woman fell into step next to him, he grinned slightly. "Sorry about the lost reference back there. It's from an internet phenomenon that popped up a few years back, based on an audio recital of the horribly translated dialogue of an old video game. Pretty funny, but the hype about it seems to have died down. By the way, you might want to write down about any allergies to food and medicine. The list for medical allergies is in the bathroom on the first floor, and the other one is in the kitchen. I'll make sure to have everyone who hasn't done so write theirs down. So far I know that I'm allergic to mushrooms and sulfa, Genevieve is allergic to chocolate, the twins are lactose intolerant, which wasn't a surprise, and one of our other housemates who I don't think anyone's met yet is allergic to cheese. Not milk, just cheese. Not surprising, since she's a mouse, and cheese is supposed to be fatal to them. Hopefully everyone's gathered together now."

---

Trey shook his head. "Sorry, I didn't expect you to react like that. I expected a jump, but not a kick and dive for cover. Anyways, I'm headed back upstairs. You might want to hurry. And there's a girl here who's a massage artist, you might want to go see her." He smiled, then turned and headed out the door to the computer lab and back up the stairs.

She was surprised that he picked her up so easily, so gently and held her against him. She wrapped her arms around is neck still hugging him and enjoying the smell that was Murray. Murphy sat on his arm like old times and giggled at him.

Still so handsome.

"I missed you too Murph. But what are you doing back here. I thought you wanted to go work at that hospital way out on the coast?"

"I did but life never quite got me that far," she admitted with a smile. It was better to admit that then let him figure it out later afterall.

"Why'd you come back?"

"Well.. I missed the town," she lied. "I missed you," she answered truthfully. She had missed Murray and while she couldn't admit it she wasn't sure what she would do if he didn't accept her for it.

Riza sighed softly as she made her way along the first of the lengthy corridors. She decided that it may have been a rather horrible idea to go off by herself. She was now utterly confused, and rather annoyed, with the whole lay out of the manor. She rolled her eyes lightly, her ears flat against her long, raven black tresses, her tail had been sent twitching nervously long ago. The slender heels of her shoes sounded throughout the lobby like room as she walked through, her arms crossing lightly just benieth her corset-clad chest.

Without much thought, she kicked the door to the kitchen open and walked in. The voices of other's were drowned out by her own thoughts as she leaned over, rummaging around the fridge for the pitcher of water that sat right in the back. After a moment she turned once more, flicking the door closed with the back of her heel.

It was then, that her eyes met the rather awkward scene that she had foxed her way into. Her eyes grew wide and she quickly set the pitcher down on the counter, hurridly fishing around in the cabinets for a cup. She really didn't mind, though, thought it best to make a hurry of her actions.

With a bit of a chuckle, she shook her head, looking back to the man and woman. "Sorry about that." She leaned against the counter, taking a sip of water from her mug. "Want me to leave you to be?"

Genevieve's Room

Genevieve was lost in thought as she unpacked. Was this the right thing to do or was she making yet another mistake? She shook her head and continued her task.

Ansgar was busy exploring the house again. It was a large place, and the land around it would make for an excellent preserve. He wandered from room to room, sniffing gently at each. He counted the number of scents, and found that aside from himself and the human, there was the female wolf; two cats, with similar but distinctly different scents; one fox, female; one tigress, a rabbit, a dog, all three female; lastly, there was the clear scent of a large equine, as well as the scent of a mouse. A lightly-perfumed mouse, so probably female, he thought. Odd, he hadn't met either of those, he realized. He shook his head, then found himself standing in the doorway of one of the rooms, watching the dog he had smelled. He raised an eyebrow, then cleared his throat. "Miss, did they tell you about the meeting?"

Genevieve jumped a mile at the sound of a voice at her door. "Oh, hello there." She smiled at Angsar and motioned for him to come in. "No I'm afraid I've been in here all this time. You know, unpacking and such." She put what she had in her hand away and turned to face him. "I'm Genevieve and you are?"

Angsar smiled, then shrugged. "Angsar. This place is big. Lots of new smells. I'll have to do some exploring later. So, what do you do? I'm a Park Ranger." He watched her intently, leaning against the doorframe slightly.

"I'm a chef and a baker. I make my sweets animal friendly so we dogs don't all get sick from the chocolate. You know?" She leaned back against the desk and looked up at him. "Would you like to explore together?" She asked him shyly. "We could meet the others. You know, strength in numbers."

She smiled.

"Do you talk a lot when you get nervous?" Elle asked as she looked at the human man. He was the one that was doing this strange social experiment but he didn't seem nearly as socially ept as some of the humans that could have been brought in.

"I'm not really allergic to anything that I am aware of..." She admitted with a laugh.

She stared at him as he bounded out of sight. Felines... she didn't get them. Carmen ran a frazzled hand through her green hair in a mild mannered attempt to right everthing that had just happened.

"I'll be right up," she called as she logged off of the computer and made her way upstairs.

Angsar raised an eyebrow, then smiled. "Sure, why not. Not much else to do right now, but I meant the surrounding area. From what I've seen, it would make an excellent nature preserve." He stepped away from the doorframe, and then nodded his head backward, then stepped backwards through it. "Well, let's head downstairs."

----

Sebastian blinked, then sighed. Clearly no way to hide it from her. Probably no way to hide it from the others, either, he decided. He thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I'm not cut out for this. I'm a bit...xenophobic, really. I don't like people that much. But Ginger insisted I be the one to supervise or whatever it is I'm supposed to do out here." He sighed again, then stretched. "Oh well, I've got no choice." He continued walking.

---

Trey was standing at the top of the stairs, waiting for her. When she got up, he smiled, and then started walking towards the kitchen again. "So, what did they offer you to get you here?" He continued walking, his tail twitching slightly every so often.

From beside the young woman, a soft, deep male voice spoke. "I don't think it matters much. This is just a reunion to them." Standing beside her was one of the few humans who had lived in the town, a big man of uncertain descent. His head was shaved bald, and the sunglasses he wore completely hid his eyes. To top it off, he was dressed in a new suit, completely black, with a white shirt and black tie under it. He looked at his watch, then smiled slightly. "Looks like it'll start soon. They're opening the roads into the town officially in a few minutes. Last minute preparations are underway. Some visitors are likely up here. Where's the kid? Mizz Umbers wanted me to check on him."

Riza's attention snapped from the two of them, to the other man standing next to her. Her tail twitched and her eyes grew wide, surprized that she hadn't seen him there a moment ago. Her tail had grown a bit fluffy and the hair on the back of her neck was near standing on end. After taking a look over his form, she calmed herself a bit. "Wait..." She said quietly, her ears falling back agianst her head, and near hiding in her long dark tresses. "We're being looked at as well...?" She glared at the man. "Who arranged this...? I thought we were here to show people what we were, not a meuseaum..."

(Spelling sucks right now >.<)

OOC: it's okay

IC: The man grinned, and pulled off his shades, looking at the young woman for a moment, before putting them back on. "This is an experiment. You kids are here to prove that you can overcome the prejudice our races are known for. If you can do that, then this city will be one of many where our kinds can learn to live in peace and harmony. Or something like that, anyways. With the kid being one of the ones in charge of the development of the city, you're likely to see a lot of visitors interested in finding out if this will work. Some will be government. Some will be corporations. Then there's the military, who will be taking a great deal of interest. Considering the potential some of your kind has as soldiers...well, I've never agreed with military policy, but the more capable a soldier is, the less likely we are to have casualties on the battlefield. So that I can understand, I s'pose."

"I'm not cut out for this. I'm a bit...xenophobic, really. I don't like people that much. But Ginger insisted I be the one to supervise or whatever it is I'm supposed to do out here. Oh well, I've got no choice."

"Of course you have a choice," Elle said with a smile. The wolf woman followed him out of her room and to where, she guessed, he would be holding the meeting. She ran a hand through her fur and smiled.

"So... If you're not doing this because you want to.... Why are you here?" She asked while they were still 'alone'.

---

"So, what did they offer you to get you here?"

"Oh... well they told me that it would be a nice place to stay and that it would be a social experiment so... I figured why not.... I needed to get out and about some more," she said watching his tail twitch.

"What's with your tail?" She asked finally.

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. He considered for a moment. Why was he there, he wondered. He couldn't think of a personal reason. "Well, the only thing I can come up with is government orders. That, and...well, even though I'm xenophobic, I can't really resist a woman telling me what to do. I'm a nice guy, I guess. And Ginger can be very persuasive."

---

Trey blinked, looking over his shoulder, then grinned. "You've never seen a cat, have you? The tail is pretty much beyond our control. It does whatever it wants to, for the most part. Besides, I think I'm going to like it here, and I'm sure Riza will fit in well."

Elle's mind ran immediately into the gutter with that one.

"I'm not going to ask," she said waving her hand with a chuckle. "So what is it that you do here Mr. Sebastian?" She asked looking around. "Are you just here to make sure we don't set each other on fire? Do you have another job?" She was mildly curious.

---

"You've never seen a cat, have you? The tail is pretty much beyond our control. It does whatever it wants to, for the most part. Besides, I think I'm going to like it here, and I'm sure Riza will fit in well."

"Of course I've SEEN a cat," Carmen replied as if he was stupid of asking her such a thing. "I just never noticed one's tail move as much as yours does," she commented. She was surprised to hear the mention of a female.

"Oh so that's got to be like your girlfriend or wife or something right?" Well, mark him down as unavailable. She could have sworn they had said there would be some single men here.

Sebastian noticed the look on the wolf's face, and blinked. Then he considered her question as they walked. That was a good question, actually, he realized. Finally, he came up with an answer. "Well, for starters, yes, I'm here to keep you guys from doing things that might jeapordize your health and safety. I'm also here to make sure the house is kept up. Make sure your needs are met. Provide contact with the government, and various agencies. Most importantly, however, I'm part of the experiment as well."

---

Trey grinned at that bit about seeing a cat before. He was caught offguard by the question about Riza though. He started laughing, then shook his head. "No, Riza's my sister. My twin, actually."

Riza's dark green eyes just rolled, her ears falling flat against her head. A soft growel issued from her throat as she took another sip of water. "Figures..." She mumbled softly, her left arm crossing under her right as she pulled away from the glass, her eyes staring at the floor. She mumbled a few inaudiable things under her breath, the feeling of the man's eyes still boring into her side. She took a sideway's glance at him, her wide eyes blinking a few times. "Something caught your attention?" She asked with a raised brow.

She knew she was a bit testy right now, but Riza was entering heat, she could spare to be a bit testy around people, men in partictular. She really doubted anyone would notice though, other then the few dog's that roamed around the manor. That and her brother, he always knew when she got like this to give her temper a little more leeway then one usually would. She stood there for a moment more in silence with the man, her eyes looking tentivly up to his, her tail twitching nervously every now and agian.

The man laughed, then shrugged again. "Anyways, if you need anything, tell the kid. He'll pass it on to the bunny in charge, and she'll pass it on to me. Everything looks okay so far, so I'm going to head out. Got to warn you. If anyone starts going into heat, we'll be pulling pretty much all nonessential humans from the manor. While the government's interested to see if crossbreeding is possible, they don't want to risk any actual personnel." He smiled, and nodded to the others. "Murray, make sure the kid signs the forms I left on the desk in the office." He stepped out quickly. He may not have the senses of the others, but he could tell something was going very south with Riza. He had a good idea what it was, but he wasn't going to embarass her by being open about it.

As the man walked out, Riza set down her glass on the granite counter and followed close behind. "Wait a sec." She called once out the door, the slender heels of her boots clicking soflty as she trotted up in front of the man. "You said something about one of us going into heat...?" She asked, blinking a few times and raising an eyebrow. "Um....what exactly would that mean....would happen...?" She said nervously, her clawed hands gently picking at one another, then moving behind her back, though doing the same there.

She didn't think that was something the man would bring up if he hadn't known something was wrong. Her ears were still drooping, though they had moved to the side of her head. She wasn't really sure if she wanted to hear the answer to her question. For she didn't know if it would be a very pleasant one. "And what did you mean about cross-breeding...? Like...with whom? People in the manor?" She blinked once more. Great. They went from being studied, to being looked and stared at, now they were a breeding clinic.

The man raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. "Well, we don't understand everything. We're still learning about your physiology. But when an animal goes into heat, they pretty much try to bone anything of the opposite gender that moves. Now, with your people, it might be different, but I'd imagine the danger is pretty much real. You're a lot stronger than a cat, after all. If any of you go into heat, we pretty much are safest quarantining you until the end of the heat cycle. Now, from what I understand, the urge to mate can literally kill, if it's not fulfilled in some way. Which of course means someone has to volunteer. I'm no doctor, but I really don't want to see anyone die simply because they didn't get the sex they demand."
