I tend to think that we need to separate the issues of health from the issues of fatness. The latter is a social issue that reflects a horribly dysfunctional relationship between body size and social acceptance. Health is often used as a justification for social acceptance, but I believe that they are two separate issues, even if they connect in terms of the physical body.
I have a question when did sasiaty's idea of beauty be come so tainted? To the point that it has nothing to do with what is apealing to the eye. Look at all the poetry it talks about curvy full figured. look at the great artest works and try to find one skinny chick any where. What happed?

I know a lot of the answer to this question. I asked in part to see how many directions it went in in the minds of lit. So the next question should be, How do we get to the idea of exceptance of people? And naturaly where do we draw the line?
I'm good.. except Nina was torturing me with nipples.
So I saw...naughty Nina
giggles
To be fair, I don't think I'm complaining.. that's the rub when it comes to the tease, is it not?
We don't. The line has already been drawn, for us. It's up to use to decide where we stand in relation to it.
Ah. But shouldent it be or job as a people to determin where that line is? Not just to figure out how to cope with the fact that there is a line?
It is indeed, pretty one. The art of the tease lies in giving you just too little to make wanting more the only option.

I am okay with this. Besides a girl like me doesn't expect options, and when we get them, we know there's some sort of trap involved.
kisses her cheek
Will do my best not to trap you, if I can help it.
winks
Should be.. but is not. It is society vs the individual.. and it is a society with inertia, each individual's action no more causal than a single raindrop causes a flood.
In truth, consumption of media is a far, far bigger determinant of social norms than most other inputs, activists included.
-bats eyelashes-
I don't mind being tapped by... certain people. I am very choosy, however. I can think of four...
Yes but dont we as a mass of individuals make the choice to stay glued, change the chanel, play a board game, or come to lit? I can say with the avarage intalect that comes to the lounge I would rather be here than watching tv.

[edit: totally meant to say trapped...mhm, I did.. really, really did!]
giggles
Hmmm, let's see if I can guess any of them...I'm going to say the charmingly wicked Vivi, the devastating Vail, the naughty Nina...
How's that so far?
tries to hold a straight face fails ...bursts into fits of giggles
~Shrugs~ It's up to you. Do you really think society is going to care whether you participate or not? It doesn't seem to have noticed me not having broadcast tv for well over five years.
The point is that yes, collective actions could have an effect, but what is overlooked in that simplification is that an individual action only translates into social movements when the right intersection of forces supports it.
There are reasons why sociology and psychology are different disciplines.
I have to go.. chat later.
- giggling - Hush you!![]()
~A flush of the cheeks as I hide behind my hair.~ You're only missing one more... am I really that easy to read?
Not at all...
peeks behind hair to smile softly

And yet Brit you dont look a day over 9000 post. smiles
