The latest and greatest "model"!!!

1. PLEASE learn how to fucking READ. NO ONE "suggested" that Gates has half a brain - that's YOU fucking up in your reading comprehension rather than anyone else saying/doing something.

2. As for predictions, there have been soothsayers and seers predicting the end of the world for a few centuries now. I believe there's even a foursome of mythical horseman who are supposed to be very experienced on this particular subject.

I said Gates said something. Knowitall said anyone with half a brain could say that. By inference...

For such a brilliant lawyer you don’t exactly grasp nuance do you

This is so interesting.
If true, it puts a different spin on Trump.

It is a lie by omission which is why there is no who mentioned.

Just the nebulous, they (as in "everyone" knows who or they're Trumpettes).

That is because in a nation so deeply divided over the philosophy
and purpose of government, the stakes are extraordinarily high
and for the most part, the MSM is an advocacy group for only
one of the polities, so their daily mission is to restore the
imbalance of power in favor of their perceived peers.

When Obama was President, the focus was on
what is right with the country and its leadership
just as the focus is now firmly upon the negatives
of government, especially the President.

It is a logical fallacy:

The government failed us.
Trump is the public head of the government.
Therefore Trump failed us.

It's one of the first fallacies discussed in Logic 101.

The funny part is that most articles irl are in the line of "Fuck Trump",
whereas on the GB most threads are "the Great Trump" ;)

Here’s another logical fallacy then. The economy is great. I’m the President of the economy. It must be great because of me.

This is so interesting.

U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.

Taken together, the reports and warnings painted an early picture of a virus that showed the characteristics of a globe-encircling pandemic that could require governments to take swift actions to contain it. But despite that constant flow of reporting, Trump continued publicly and privately to play down the threat the virus posed to Americans. Lawmakers, too, did not grapple with the virus in earnest until this month, as officials scrambled to keep citizens in their homes and hospitals braced for a surge in patients suffering from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

“Donald Trump may not have been expecting this, but a lot of other people in the government were — they just couldn’t get him to do anything about it,” this official said. “The system was blinking red.”

The warnings from U.S. intelligence agencies increased in volume toward the end of January and into early February, said officials familiar with the reports. By then, a majority of the intelligence reporting included in daily briefing papers and digests from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the CIA was about covid-19, said officials who have read the reports.

Azar couldn’t get through to Trump to speak with him about the virus until Jan. 18, according to two senior administration officials. When he reached Trump by phone, the president interjected to ask about vaping and when flavored vaping products would be back on the market, the senior administration officials said.

The Daily Beast reported last month that after she attended a January 24 closed-door US Senate briefing on the COVID-19 outbreak, Loeffler sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in shares of Resideo Technologies, Comcast, AutoZone, and more before the decline and also bought up shares in Citrix, a company that makes telecommuting software.

On Tuesday, The Journal-Constitution reported that newly disclosed stock transactions from early March involved the sale of retail stocks, which have seen a sharp decline as the industry suffers from the outbreak. Loeffler sold over $70,000 in shares of the retailer Ross on March 4 and 5; $27,000 in shares of TJX Cos., the parent company of TJ Maxx; and over $56,000 in shares of Lululemon, a popular athleisure clothing brand.

At the same time, she purchased over $87,700 in shares of Dupont, a Delaware chemical company that manufactures medical supplies. Such items are now in high demand as the coronavirus outbreak puts immense strain on America's hospital systems and medical infrastructure, with healthcare workers in desperate need of personal protective equipment.

There’s lots of whos.

https://www.npr.org/2020/03/31/824958381/justice-department-looking-into-senators-stock-selloff

NPR first broke news of a secret recording in which Burr, R-N.C., privately warned well-connected constituents in February about how bad the coronavirus crisis would become.

ProPublica then reported that the senator dumped up to $1.7 million in stocks, while assuring the public that the U.S. was well positioned to withstand a pandemic.

An insider trading investigation hinges on whether a person made stock transactions based on relevant private information.

As chairman of the Intelligence Committee and a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Burr may have received private information about the coming pandemic.

"Was [that information] something that you and I, if we were shareholders of that company, would have reasonably expected it to be considered significant at the time?" said Doug Davison, a former Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement lawyer, laying out a key question that investigators would have. "The investigation needs to be surgical in the sense that you need to really focus like a laser on what information was provided to the Congress folks. Was it material? Was it nonpublic?"

January 24...

With 20/20 hindsight, are you postulating that he should have shut down the country then?

I mean, do you have a link where you, or anyone else,
was panicking over an unknown virus in China,
one their government was lying about
such as, it does not pass from
person to person?

Are you and your sources engaging in rearview politics
in order to gain nothing more than a political advantage?

What omission? What stock did she buy?

You make this too easy. :rose:

All of those mean Democrats that were just out to get Trump that you’ve been railing about? 🙊

Timelines are important.

March is not January...

Once again, we go from that is not true, to trying to pick apart the truth. :D

You should really read before spouting off.

And Barr sold is stock February 13th.

The largest transactions — and the most politically problematic — involve $18.7 million in sales of Intercontinental Exchange stock in three separate deals dated Feb. 26 and March 11. Loeffler is a former executive with ICE, and her husband, Jeff Sprecher, is the CEO of the company, which owns the New York Stock Exchange among other financial marketplaces.

Well, yeah.
Why did they stay silent?
I don't think you have an answer for that...

Your misunderstanding and lack of comprehension do not a mistake on my part make.

They don't. All they've got is links to politicians and the press excoriating Trump for his China travel ban. The racist, xenophobic bastard.

Now they're trying to cover their asses and they look like fucking fools in so doing.

The B & M Gates Foundation was founded for the express purpose of battling diseases such as this. I applaud them for their philanthropy and their being spokespersons for these issues. Just be aware that Gates was NOT a lone voice crying in the wilderness nor was he the first. Having several billion to spread around just gives you a louder voice.

who is doing that

It's easy to speculate about a "generic" outbreak of disease,
but quite a different thing to prepare for a specific
and completely unknown disease, unless,
the Left now wants to backtrack and
say we should have acted like...

... it was the flu.

Except the Obama administration left the Trump administration a playbook on how to handle exactly this kind of epidemic that he promptly ignored because he knew better.

All Angie seems to have are REPUBLICAN politicians, one of them the richest woman in the Senate, who have put their investments into blind trusts, just like Nancy Pelosi did )and her husband made similar trades during the same time frame) from which I deduce that it was not some secret information given by the nefarious Trump Daddy to his posse and that in the true fashion of Damocles, the simplest answer might lie in the daily market machinations driven by "expert" financial people.

Not that these politicians are as pure as the driven snow, but if they all acted on what Trump imparted to them, it seems strange that more of them did not act (or were not investigated by the usual gang of suspects).

Do we really think that a woman that rich was after such a tiny "windfall?"

That's the perfect term " rear view politics " The only interest the Dems party had was impeachment.

Adam Schiff was and is the intel committee chair, I don't recall a fucking word about China, too busy with Ukraine.

The Intel depts under Trump were trying to ruin him, lest we forget the FISA warrants.

Trump shut down travel from China and was immediately scorned as an xenophobe.

DeBazio don't worry about the virus, frequent your local restaurants.
Mayor of N. Orleans, let do Mardis Gras.
Nancy holds up rescue pkg to fill it with pork.
There is enough blame to go around.

Dems are being hypocritical.
