The Isolated Blurt Thread XXVI: Spring Forward

It is an odd feeling to read the words of past days. To think about possibilities...could haves...would haves. And then to think of today, are the thoughts the same? My mind wanders and ponders until I will it to stop. It is what it is.

"In providing for the administration of the affairs of Britain, the Plantagenets followed the simple 'hungry falcon' theories laid down long before Henry's guidance by Matilda Empress— to place relatively obscure men in seats of responsibility where their ambitions, their dependence upon bounty, and their gratitude, in various combinations, could be expected to keep them vigilant and honest.

He was a 'hungry falcon' with a fanatical zeal for his king and such pride of office as only a parvenu could feel."

Pronoia is fun!

In the 1997 movie Fierce Creatures, Jamie Lee Curtis's character describes Kevin Kline's character as excessively pronoid: "It means that despite all the available evidence, you actually think that people like you. Your perception of life is that it is one long benefit dinner in your honor, with everyone cheering you on and wanting you to win everything. You think you're the prince, Vince."

Georgia's min wage is 5.15?
Must be standing room only under the bridges in Atlanta.
Can't imagine why people would choose welfare when they could be making a cool 200 for a 40hr week of work.
~before deductions

Virtually all Georgia workers are covered by the federal $7.25 an hour minimum.

The Ga law has an exemption for maids/caregivers/babysitters who work less than 8 hours a week and make less than $1700 per year.

So you have to give the babysitter at least 5.15 or you're breaking the law?
What is the going rate for babysitters these days?

SCARY

If you want to scare yourself half to death, stand on a steep, wooded hillside filled with a mix of mature deciduous trees on a windy March day.

Now, look up.

You'll swear the damn things are all about to be torn out of the ground and come crashing down on you.
