With the price of a barrel of oil dropping down into the 30s this past week...

...probably a little more than half of all the new shale oil-gathering wells erected in the last 5-7 years in Texas' Permian and Eagle Ford basins sit idle, not producing a drop right now. But, though idle, many are nonetheless being readied to be fastly fitted with still-evolving technology that will permit them to pump oil even more efficiently/cost-effectively than they did before, further solidifying America as the largest oil producing nation in the world once the price of oil rises again.

Yet, the great innovative state that Texas is is hardly sitting on those world-leading, energy-producing laurels...

Unlike socialist states like California which depend on federal- and state-offered and -mandated assistance/subsidies from the pockets of taxpayers...

...the vast solar-capturing fields in the wide-open lands of west Texas are growing without hardly any of such statist tyranny means of control.

In fact, primary because of that pioneering, capitalistic, can-do spirit, which is drastically driving down the costs to produce solar energy (just as what happened with Texas oil production), it is now forecast that in just 15 short years...

...Texas, by itself, will produce more solar energy than the entire rest of the United Socialist State of America combined.

With self-sustainable water and energy harvesting mostly now ready to be placed fully in the hands of the very poorest...

...all that's left now is for the statists-in-charge, even those in Texas, to have their tyrannical natures finally fully adjusted so that all people, no matter how poor, are able to build their own beautiful homes out of the very dirt of their very own acre - adobe is the next hurdle to push the statist bozos over.

There is no more liberating gift to give an individual than the very practical means to her/his own self-sustainability...

...and the colonias smile.

Is this an organized tour? 50 miles a day is a standard day for people with loaded touring bikes. Organized tours offer a van to carry your gear, which makes the 50 miles a day a piece of cake. All you need to carry with you is water, a snack, and a rain jacket. And then, there's the sag wagon, which will pick you up should the bike or you break and be not readily repaired.

Yes.

thør knows. I'm guessing he has done this before.

Pizza. Always pizza.

Or tacos.

Mexican pizza?

Nah... just pizza.

Or tacos. Hard or soft?

Pizza or tacos is a tough decision.

Pizza and tacos?

The Shawarma joint by my house is fantastic but it won't last. Nothing ever does in that strip -- especially a Shawarma spot. Damnit.

The Nats are 5 games back heading into September. It's not looking good for the dream team.

That's DC sports though.

Nice swim.

A gazillion minnows in the water, the piping plovers were delerious with the abundance. They just skim along the top of the water with their beaks open, like miniature pelicans.

so difficult (not) to engage with it.

it burns the eyes;
not with the usual stupidity
or inanity,
but with a blind confident cunning
that...
if not prejudged now
can (and for many, does)
seduce reason
into a fetid cesspool of
validation.

leona was tempted
but only just so...

her precious honesties
would only be twisted into mangled toys.
