Cable line completely tore off of the telephone pole. Thankfully it wasn't the electric.

i hate seeing hot, 20 something girls only to slowly realize that i knew them when they were 12 and really, really annoying. really fucks with my head. it makes me feel super pervy.

It kind of keeps switching back and forth between The Pogues version and the original Ewan MacColl version.

i've never heard the original, but the dubliners did a few decent versions. still, the pogues is the first one i heard and it stuck with me. it's one of those songs that seem like they were written for shane. hell, i was stunned when i realized it wasn't written by the rotten mouth fucker.

Although Dirty Old Town is forever associated with Ireland, Ewan MacColl wrote it about Salford in Manchester. Still one of my favorites for a beer driven sing along though. the Pogues sound great doing it.

hopefully the version by the pogues.

Shane totally owned that song. And now I have to try and find my copy of Rum, Sodomy and the Lash. Bastards.

I forgot Navigator was on that album. Tune and a half.

it's not my favorite of theirs, but it is my first so it holds a special place in my heart.

the album. not the song. the song is good, though.

It brings back happy memories of lots of drunken nights in the Irish clubs in Manchester. And walking home roaring Sally McLenane at the tops of our voices.

I knew they had to put Hector down soon, poor little fuzzball was riddled with cancer but crying tears on the train as I looked at his last photos, what a great dog he was. And what a good example of how Vick got off too easily.

A factoid:

In the last year, about 3,600 people, worldwide, have died from ebola. That's about 1/3 the number of Americans murdered by a gun in the same period.

I have been dropping words in my typing all day, I guess I am not very awake.
