They are real and I don't mess with them. I like my karma where it is.

Hey Savage, did you catch the sunrise today? Maybe the best of the year, best of many years.

Are you kidding? I haven't seen a sunrise in the better part of a decade.

Mornings shouldn't start before noon.

I broke my left fibula.

It hurts.

Ouch. Damn.
:rose: :rose:

Nothing special this time, I was handing tools/parts up to my plumber who was adding a new roof vent on my job site. I just turned around, tripped on one raised roof rib and fell on another breaking my leg in the process.

Don't do that.

I'm not super fond of hearing Jimmy Fallon as the voice in the new iPhone commercials. I adore him and well, he can't NEED the money that badly, can he?

i've never been a fan of his, and now that he's basically becoming the new ryan seacrest with his ubiquity, my nightmare is complete

have a better day, wings. :rose:

also... are voodoo dolls a real thing? might be a fun hobby craft for you to look into. ;)

No, they aren't.

And actually have no true ties to the Haitian religion.

But they are a part of Louisiana Voodoo. And anything that ties a spirit to it is nothing to mess with. If you're tying an evil intent to it, it is evil. Usually they're benevolent which is good. Money, health, good fortune. All good.

Depends on who wields it.

I'm no authority. And I don't know the differences between branches, but I did watch a really interesting documentry on the origins and found that the tidbit of the vodou doll being more gimmicky than having a true use in the religion was both disheartening and not uncommon.

It's all in the spelling. Voodoo came from Africa but there is also Haitian Vodou.

I'm pretty sure that it was trying to dispel the myth that the dolls were meant for evil. Vodou(oo) dolls were never meant for evil, they, like most things in the Voodoo beliefs were meant for health, healing and prosperity. They were vilified by mostly Hollywood and people like Pat Robertson. It's a very calming religion that if I could make my heart believe I'd be happy to live by.

There are 3 branches that are recognized.

Awesome. Thanks. I was reading more about this.

It's like Wings typed. Voodoo dolls aren't really meant as something evil. Besides, it is a known fact that unless you actually believe in the stuff, it can't harm you in anyway.

Edited to add: Hollywood just made them evil by making little creepy looking dollies. Kinda sad as some of them are really beautifully crafted.

Haitian vodou relies more on the French influence. I prefer the West African version myself.

It goes up half of my back, a heart and wings, my kids' names and magolia surrounded by forget-me-nots. With a little ivy in there too.

And thank you. :rose:

if you ever have a color shot, i'd love to see the tat. :)
