I Hate It When...
...of the few whom I call friends, one is slipping away. She is dying and will not confide this to others. I must vent here as this thread is all that my honor will allow. For me to sigh, to sorrow, to grieve, and to cry. For she treads not these threads. Honored I am that it is in me she has confided. In me that she trusts. On me that she cries. From me that she finds strength. With me she walks this path. Yes, I will walk this path. But I know the path will stop for me. That I cannot champion her, console her, and comfort her on those final few.
I hate... that she has chosen me. Not a lover, not a brother. How do I bear this weight? yoked to my honor, where do I turn to grieve? For grieve I do, every day. The merriment of her laugh and the silliness of her ways. These are but her masks these final days. For every smile granted to others, there are two tears upon my chest. One of hers...and one of mine.
I hate it when...I feel tears well within. For tears are not for man. Strength of character and clarity of mind they deny. Behind these boards and threads must I hide. Gathering strength for next we meet. Alive again for but a while. Our eyes cannot hide behind a smile.

Damn! wish I hadn't posted that. didn't mean to bring anyone down. and certainly not soliciting sympathy. I have been running too hard lately, with too little sleep and too much going on. Needed to verbalize. Problem, though is that I now have an ethical situation. I believe that if I post it, I accept consequences. Shouldn't delete unless harmfull to another. Well, this does not harm anyone but me (making friends feel blue, solicting sympathy, appearing too mushy). So, now I have verbalized. Do I then delete and thus violate the ethical standard to which I hold myself accountable? Or do I leave posted and falsely solict sympathy which should be given to those more in need?
Desparado is the name of the song. One of my favorites and one I listen to late in the evening in my office, when everyone else has left and I am contemplating my day.
