This has been doing the rounds on Xanga and LiveJournal and I thought I'd share with you all.

--

I am the guy who came out to the entire school in his senior speech and got a standing ovation for his courage.

I am the girl who kisses her girlfriend on the sidewalk and laughs at those who glare.

We are the couple who planned and studied and got a damn good lawyer and BEAT the state that wanted to take our child away.

We are the ones who took martial arts classes and carry pepper spray and are just too dangerous to gay bash.

I am the transgender person who uses the bathroom that suits me, and demands that any complaining staff explain their complaint to my face in front of the entire restaurant -- and shares with my other trans friends which restaurants don't raise a stink.

I am the mother who told her lesbian daughter to invite her girlfriend over for dinner.

I am the father who punished his son for calling you a fag.

I am the preacher who told my congregation that love, not hate, is the definition of a true follower of God.

I am the girl who did not learn the meaning of "homosexual" until high school but never thought to question why two men might be kissing.

I am the woman who argues (quite loudly and vehemently) with the bigots who insist that you do not have the right to marry or raise children.

We are the high school class who agrees, unanimously, along with our teacher, that love should be all that matters.

If you agree, repost this. Do it. You don't have to be afraid. You can handle it. You're stronger than you think.

I am making a difference. Hate will not win.

I am the guy who is attracted to women more than men, because men are assholes.

OOPS!

Case in point!

(well...a fine example..anyway) :D

Don't listen to her, Dark. That's how she lulls you into a false sense of security....

Getting back on track.....

I was the high school kid arguing against an entire classroom, teacher included, that it was nobody's god damned business who a person loved.

I am the woman kissing another woman in the taxi line without giving a damn what bystanders think about it.

I will be the woman standing next to my wife proclaiming to all that I will love her with all that I have for as long as she'll have me.

I am the brother who threw rice when my sister married her wife.

I am the guy who fans the flames of his girlfriend's bi-curiosity.

Sincerely,
ElSol

I am the woman that once told her employer to sack her if he was going to sack "any gays on the staff", because even though he knew I had a boyfriend, he didn't know I am bisexual.

I am the woman who reported said boss to higher ups and was initially told to stop complaining, until there were ten of us making a hell of a lot of noise about lawsuits.

And I am the woman who will be giving away my gay best friend, because his father disowned him.

I am the woman who held her girlfriend's hand in the middle of Wal-Mart in the middle of a homophobic, bible thumpin small town in the bible belt.

I am the woman who kissed her girlfriend in Wal-Mart, not caring that jaws were dropping, people staring, holier-than-thou whispers being uttered.

It wasn't Atoka was it?

I am the boss who, when told by a homophobic employee that he would walk out rather than work with a newly "out" gay man, told him that he knew where the door was, and time was wasting.

I am the mother who told her daughter she was human when she came home crying from school because people kept asking her "what she was." (race-wise)

I am the friend that cried with happiness when I was privileged enough to be invited to witness two women voicing their commitment to each other (and I still get weepy just thinking about it).

I am the person who doesn't give two shrill hoots in Niffleheim who you decide to love, or how.

I am the man who will not only stand beside you, but stand before you to protect your right to choose to love who you wish.

I am the man who will stand up and protect those who are weaker than me.

I am the man who will risk his life to save and protect yours without asking questions.

I am the man who still talks about such things as personal honor and believes in them.

I am me!

I am the one awed by your compassion and beauty.

I am the one who cheers most loudly when you and your wife kiss.

I am the father who will tell his daghters that they can love who ever they choose, regardless of what others think.

I am the person who believes that 'Land of the Free' means free to be who you are, not who others want you to be.

I am the person who at the last mothers club picnic made sure that the only lesbian member knew that her partner was invited as well. (She still refuses to come, but we're trying)

Have no idea where that is.
It was in south-east TN.

I am the woman, after holding my gf's hand and kissing her in above described Wal-Mart, looked into the eyes of a gawker and asked "Got a problem? This ain't for sale."

I am The Man. Sorry, just wanted to say that. ;)

Starting over...

I am the man who always interrupts a statement starting with "I'm not a racist, but...", with a murderous grin and a "We'll see about that."

I am the man who made it into a hobby to quote Jesus until the local homophobic priest ran out of arguments.

I am the man who will only have an opinion on your sexual interrests if they involve me.

I am the woman who argued to her college professor that it isn't fair to love someone for your entire life and not be able to see them on their death bed because you're not "family" and THAT, among a myriad of others, is a reason why gay marriage should not be banned.

I am the woman who called a man a bigot, today, in Wal-Mart parking lot, because he had a bumper sticker that said Marriage = (pic of stick man) + (pic of stick woman).

I am the woman who risked her job at a church, standing up for the
"G-A-Ys."

I am the woman who didn't run away when her best friend told her she was a Wiccan bisexual . . . which was a fear of hers, from past experience.

I am the woman who believes in a better tomorrow and in the freedom of everyone to love whomever they choose. We will win this fight. :rose:

I am the woman who left convention behind in the name of love and took the hand of her wife to live a bright new future.

I am the woman who envelopes those around her and wraps them in love.

I am the woman who will not ignore.

I am the woman who will listen.

I am vella.
