I am a Kindle addict.

Just realized I have purchased and have 324 books in my Kindle Library, split between Sci-fi and fantasy, and quite a few of the various shades of erotica, some of which I would not do again, because they weren't as advertised.

I have, I think, everything that @MaxSebastian, who also publishes here, has put out for sale. He not only writes very good erotica, he is a very good writer.

I do not know how much a writer gets from a Kindle sale, but some of the authors are making at least a bit of money off me.

Anybody else with this addiction?

As with traditional publishing, a select few are making an outsized portion of what comes in.

The Amazon ecosystem is far, far worse. (though, admittedly, I haven't combed over the T&Cs for authors in awhile other than knowing Kindle Unlimited is darn near slave wages if any at all.)

Awesome that your heart is in the right place. If you want to be more direct/likely do more, see if the individual authors have other web sites, revenue streams, podcasts, limited editions, etc. etc.

Honestly, a modest "buy me a coffee" donation would likely do more for the author than many, many major digital platforms purchases.

That's feels best to me but I don't have the cold, hard numbers. Just seen discussions in author circles.

I hope you have Kindle Unlimited! I have it and it's saved me a fortune. I love that I can read on my Kindle or my phone and the progress carries over.

My wife and I have twin kindles (both on the same account) with somewhere just south of 1400 titles. She's on an email list which notifies her of deals, so she picks up lots for €1.

As someone who travels a lot, both personal and business, the Kindle has revolutionized my life. While I still enjoy a physical book on the beach or in the sun - my Kindle with 800+ books has been a savior!

I collect kindle books that are offered free at various times, mainly mysteries written by women and ethnic cookbooks.

Over the years here I've bought around 30 books on SW and all from authors in the AH that I have seen advertise they put out their first books. I never tell them I bought it, I just try to support them and give them a smile that they sold a book. Its a big deal when you're just starting.

But other than that, I don't read anything on a device. I'm still a book person. Kind of funny seeing I sell a ton of e-books, but it is what it is.

I haven't counted mine up (I used to be Kindle, now Kobo), but it's a lot. I just enjoy the reading experience that way, rather than having to test my dexterity with a physical book - especially larger ones.

I have 298 books on my Kobo. I had more, but I cancelled my Kobo Plus subscription. For the past few years I've mostly been listening to audiobooks, and I have about 120 books in Audible.

I primarily read on my Kindle and use Kindle Unlimited. There are close to 800 titles in my Kindle Library. My preferred reading genres are historical novels/romance, Mysteries, and Erotica. I read a lot of free books or books that cost under a dollar, because of Kindle Unlimited.

So we actually have something in common. I too am a kindle addict. I have 8 in all sizes, stashed in various places. I have around 450 title, mostly history non fiction. I’ve passed through the War of Northern Aggression, and now I’m deep into Western history. I’ve read, in the last couple months, biographies of Bill Hickcock, Tom Horn, Jed Smith, Doc Holliday, 2 Wyatt Earps, Jim Bridger, and Quanah Parker. I also love Reacher, Mitch Rapp, and Joe Pickett in fiction. Kindle unlimited is a must for prolific readers. I don’t buy erotically, that’s what Literotica is for.

I finally just signed up for Kindle Unlimited. Most of my stuff is Sci-fi (military themed), with some urban fantasy shit thrown in for fun. I found that tech manuals are not a good fit for digital.

As for erotica, you must admit that there is not a whole lot of good writing going on right now. There are only so many plots, and only so many tropes, in any of the areas, and the first time writers write their personal fantasy, or two, and then disappear, sometime run off by the anonymous trolls, who have never written anything in their whole life. One has to have a thick skin to put up with that shit. I sometime post a comment just to trigger the trolls, and when one of them is triggered, loses their shit and attacks me, it just makes my day.

I have finally come out of writing purgatory and started writing again (10-12 stories in various stages), two just to fuck with the IR trope people (little white wife loses her mind and her shit over BBC) and several consensual non-monogamous stories guaranteed to get comments out of you (you are very predictable in that regard.). Also, and I assume you spent time in the military, I have been a Jody, and have been Jodied. That's military life and it always happens, and has always happened, and will always happen in the military way of life. I have several of those in the works also.
