The "I Am" Declaration

I got kidnapped to there in May by a dear friend who realised if I didn't get away from here I'd probably spend the next few years in the looney bin. Had a wonderful time scaring the hicks.

An English girl? With peircings? That smokes, drinks and swears like a sailor? *cue stares*

Mwhwhahahaha

You were practically in my back yard.

i am the woman who almost left her husband for a girl b/c she thought Bi-sexuals were just sex freaks. Thank heavens I learned.
I am the woman who has more gay male friends than women friends.
I am the woman who loved a woman who thought I was less b/c I loved a man.
I am the woman who is raising her children to love regardless of genitalia.
I am the woman who told her grandfather (who is like a father) that if he kept saying things about other races, he wouldn't be allowed to see his great grand children.
I am also the woman who told her Father-in-law (with the support of her husband) that if he continued to make denigrating homophobic remarks he would not be allowed to spend time with his grandchildren.

I am………….so many people.

I am the friend who has been moved and humbled by all the declarations on this thread.

I am the mother who never wanted children, but adores the ones she has with every fibre of her being.

I am the separated wife who still ‘loves’ the man with whom she shared 32 years of her life, and would be devastated if anything happened to him.

I am the lesbian who has spent her life hiding from that fact, and hiding it from other people.

I am the writer, a purveyor of dreams and fantasies who, through her words, has found a way to cope with the constant grinding conflict and come to know some of the most special people in the world. Through those people I have found a haven, a family, and eventually, unexpectedly, the love of my life.

I am the old woman who has become young again through the love of that wonderful woman.

I am the woman who was reduced to tears when my proposal was answered with one simple word, ‘yes’.

I am a coward – the lioness searching for her courage – and who has hopefully found that courage in the eyes, touch and support of the woman I love, with all my heart. The courage to be…” the woman standing next to my wife proclaiming to all that I will love her with all that I have for as long as she'll have me.”

I am the woman who has never been tested, never been called upon to stand up and be counted.
Now is my time to learn to count.

I think you don't give yourself enough credit.

You've followed your heart, when others might not have. That takes real courage - don't ever doubt it. I wish I was half as brave.

...anything is possible. :)

Ain't love grand?

i am the straight gal who continues to befriend gay or bi women even though i may suffer the agony of being misunderstood and approached.

I am a straight man who has no problem saying "nope, I'm not gay. Please get your cock outa my butt"

As fruity as I can behave...I do not recall being hit on by any gay man. Hmmm or any straight woman for that matter!

I am a man who has won Shiney shirt day by wearing a gold lamé dress (as a shirt)...the same dress that was lent to the winner of "Miss A n n Ar bo R" (not really "misses" competing ;) )

I am a man who dressed in tights, Tutu and wings for f-a-ir y day.
I am a man who doesn't follow football.
I am a man who doesn't play golf.
I am a man who is friends to straight people.
I am a man who is friends to lonely people.
I am a man who is friends with lesbinims.
I am a man who is friends to gay men.
I am a man who friends to dogs...and some cats.

oooo! ooo!
I am also a man who can annoy and piss off any (or all) of the above!

you tickle my fancy and if lucky EVER finds out...*cringe*

I am,
the young woman still finding her place
between skirts and heels
and baggy jeans and polo shirts.

I am,
the girl who wanted her own city
just so she could live out.

I am,
the lesbian that cried at her first Pride Parade
looking at the multitude of PFLAG marchers
and still tears up knowing that her parents will never be there.

I am still
that little girl
curling up with her teddy bear every night.

I am,
the big sister
trying desperately to teach my little sister that love is love
between any people.

I am,
the leftist femme nazi
that fucking hates right wing Christians
preaching their twisted version of Jesus's simple comand to love,
but still tries to accept that they are people as well
and deserve respect.

I am,
the chick at work
trading hot night spots with the gay guys.

I am,
the one that tells every drag queen that she's beautiful
and means it.

I am the guy that believes in everyones personal freedom to live their life the way they choose to, as long as they aren't hurting someone else, or taking away others freedom to live as they choose.

I am the woman who went out tonight in the t-shirt that proclaimed "Bi does not = Easy"

I am the woman who was told she was a greedy whore because of said t-shirt, and laughed in the face of the person who said it.

I am the woman who is giving Mat a big hug and lots of love *hugs*

I am the man who had one of his best friends come out to him in high school (an all-boy catholic high school BTW) by asking if he could bring a guy to my party...when I said yes too quick he said, no I mean can I bring a guy to your party...so I asked him if he didn't hear me the first time.

I am the man who went with said friend to Gay Youth Alliance meetings since his parents couldn't know...and then spent half his time there trying to explain that 1) yes I am straight and 2) no, I honestly am not phased that you are not.

I am the man that will never understand how someone can think that a brother or sister who hasn't seen their sibling in 20 years somehow has the right to make a decision the person they own a house with does not...

I am the man that thinks those who feel love can be limited don't really understand love at all...
