The Humor, or lack thereof, In Prison Sex

I completely agree, but I would go even further and say that it is just as wrong in the case of rapists. There is no excuse for raping anyone ever, rape is wrong period - there is no state of affairs that will ever make it right, good, or even remotely justifiable for one human being to rape another. The moment society accepts some rapes as morally acceptable, perhaps even praiseworthy, all rapes are open to evaluation. We've just barely made it out of the days when saying "she deserved it" was an acceptable defense for rape, I don't want to head back into them again. I don't care what someone has done or how horrible they are: if you rape them you're not a hero, you're a rapist, end of story.

Thank you, Crysede, you said it so much better than I did.

no, and dont be so self righteous AuTess

While I agree with the general point made by Lav and Siren, I don't think that what is funny can be controlled or reined in by our rational minds. Sometimes something is funny and it hits you in the funny bone.

Two of my favourite stand up comic routines ever concern rape(Not prison rape but rape nontheless) one is by David Cross saying he was raped by the Virgin Mary, the other one is by George Carlin and is titled, appropriately enough, Is Rape Funny? They're both funny and Cross' especially is funny on a very base level to the point that the caring, compassionate, rational person in me who frowns on rape jokes couldn't help it. It made me chuckle.

Let's not forget shoplifters. Nothing says justice to me like a guy getting it up the ass because his kid ran out of Pampers a week before payday.

Oh, come on now. Nobody goes to prison for shoplifting a package of diapers. Give me a break.

Maybe not diapers but some of those three strikes and you are out laws can put you away for 10-15 for stealing something not much more then that.

It all depends on what the states definition of a felony is.

WRONG Rubyfruit

But the subject here is not who deserves to be in prison but how should someone be treated in prison.
This is America. We should make sure prisoners serve their time, and not have to be raped to serve it.

It is? I thought the subject was whether or not it was funny.

Hehe I was faster then you Siren.

I will concede that you wrote more and declare this a tie. :)

are ya 'up' for a tie breaker?

What of people wrongfully convicted? Still hilarious in your book?

Oh I could have been a great lawyer.

I just could not live with feeling dirty all the time when I get out of bed ;)

I loved Mr. Show with Bob & Dave, but I was unimpressed by David Cross's stand-up. Of course, the only time I saw him was on that one HBO special he did. But Mr. Show...that was funny. I loved it.

Mr. Show was without a doubt one of the best shows in the last ten years.

Which standup are you speaking of? The hour long "The pride is back" or the half hour HBO special

If you're talking about either I don't get it. But maybe you didn't like the bit about people who leave money to their cats and the line " A Cat wouldn't know the difference between a crystal goblet and a shit lined shoe"

:p

Bob from Mr Show is on Politically Incorrect right now California time

:p

I love Bill Maher.

He makes me wet.

His wit, intellect and ideas are spot on.

Anyone else think he rocks?

I disagree with him about a lot. He's pro-environment enough, which is cool but he's anti-kids to this bizarre bitter extent.

Plus, I occasionally wish he'd put together panels that would consist of more than people yelling at each other.

LOL! It was the hour-long special. The cat jokes were funny, but some of his material wasn't great, and he seemed kind of insecure up on stage.

My favorite Mr. Show bit is the one where they make a musical version of Ronnie Dobb's story. My second favorite bit is the militia olympics, where they have all the Presidents of all the seceded countries competing.

Agreed for the most part. Sometimes he just makes me want to cause him bodily harm.

I just think is it weird and ironic that he is on PI

I think that my favourite Mr. Show bit would have to be the competing ads between two grocery stores.

"Hi, welcome to Smith's groceries. One thing I can guarantee you about my store is that my employees do not defecate in the aisles."

That or the world's deadliest rollercoaster.

LOL! That is a funny bit. I also like the one with the metal band visiting a suicidal fan who jumped into a vat of sulfuric acid.
