The Great Breakfast Throw Down

I usually have a couple of cans in the cupboard at all times so it's not that difficult to make breakfast with it. Open the can, heat, remove from pan, drop in some eggs and scramble them while the toaster does its thing...

If you want something different, try making home-made hash brown potatoes. Your cheese grater will work for the making the potato strings. Grate and cook until light golden brown in a hot pan. Then put some water in the pan, cover, and steam until tender.

Better than anything you can get frozen at the grocery store.

Not sure I could deal with meat from a can. Ha! I bet that is exactly what I am eating more than 80% of the time I order it at a restaurant.

I often make my own hash browns, but I never steam them. I like mine crunchy.

Most likely unless you order at a small eatery that specializes in their "home made" corned beef hash. There's a place here that does and I honestly cannot tell the difference in taste.

Right now I'm considering learning how to make crepes. I'm writing a book and the protagonist makes them so actually knowing how might be a bonus. Or not. :)

Live without refrigeration or a nearby market for a summer or two.

Yes....

No elves magically made the muffins.

You don't live your life in Alaska and be scared of cooking something in the oven.

I’m not scared of baking, I just do not enjoy doing it. All the measuring and timing and direction following...blah. I’m not the biggest fan of baked goods bread included, but I do enjoy them on occasion. That reminds me, I need to stop by the new bakery for a lovely loaf of rustic, crusty bread for tonight.

I’ll stick with city living, thank you.

Apple cinnamon muffins, ham and apple slices.

I'm full.

*burp*

Did you have the ham and apples together? I don’t think I have ever fine that cold.

Now, I want my pork belly and apple app. Maybe I will make them for Thanksgiving.

Two weeks ago I made perfect hashbrowns on Sunday morning. Decided to do the same this morning, had my phone camera ready to document the perfection.....aaaaand I burned the fuck outta them.

(First and last time I used the "chef's trick" to double cold wash the shredded potatos to remove starch.0

Un-over easy eggs. Mini naan. Apple.

Sorry, I forgot to take a pic before I had a bite. Quality control ya know. :D

Yummy. I love naan in all of it’s sizes.

There is a fine line between crispy and burnt. I just saw somewhere a bacon doneness scale. I lean toward the burnt.

This week’s big breakfast spread is a savory stuffed French toast stuffed with Brie and blueberries and drizzled with honey and a blueberry compote.

who knew my happy place could be represented so well by food art? :cattail:

The last of the naan, an un-over easy egg (I do a lot of those), and a potato, onion, broccoli and ham ... I don't know what you call it. Hash? Scramble? Fry-up? I'll just stick with tasty. :D

I'm hungry this morning - been up since a bit before 6am, had my long walk, took Kitty Girl outside and even did some chores.

This morning i cooked up diced mushroom and tomato in a splash of olive oil, added diced boiled egg and stirred through a little goats cheese. Obviously I ate it before I could take a picture.

Now that's hash browns.

Too bad you skimped on the bacon though...

We had toasted bacon and tomato sandwiches today

Sadly, I am the only fan of tomatoes around here. Your sandwiches sound divine.

I’m down with that tastiness. I thought about putting ham in my french toast. I’ll have to do something with ham soon.

Yes, minus the mushrooms for me, I just can’t get past their texture. Somehow the fella has decided that he now likes goat cheese. That makes me happy.

There’s two slices on my plate. Seriously, I didn’t even cook the whole package and we had bacon leftover.

You should see a doctor about that. Bacon deficiency can be cured after testing and diagnosis but you really need to talk to a doctor because a low bacon count during breakfast could also be a symptom of onset veganism. :)

  • Veggie scramble in the cast iron with cheese.
  • A few Farmer John links.
  • Sourdough toast.
  • Peach lemonade.

I see what you did there.

This am was an over easy fried egg with Brie and spicy pepperoni on a toasted English muffin. I am loving the recent purchase of a tiny non-stick pan. It’s perfect size for a single egg.

Sounds good. What veggies did you use?

I may have to do a poll of patties vs links. I prefer loose sausage for making my own patties. Just call me breakfastcentric.
