The Glorification of George Floyd

Apparently you do not know what a martyr or martyrdom is. The concept is as old as mankind.

You are an uneducated idiot. He was nothing but a street thug that hot his just rewards...maybe he is there with his 40 virgins....but I bet if he js, I hope they are all men...everybody is not in with his shjt. A martyr...I don't think so...just a other black lives matter piece of shit..

While I still hold Ahmed Aubrey's murder was clear modern-day lynching

Am I the only one who's starting to doubt that George Floyd's murder had anything to do with his race?

The two worked together and clashed before at the nightclub.

How can 'hate crime' still be so overwhelmingly undisputed,
when the two possibly had bad blood between them ????????

You quite likely are the only one, because there's no reason why bad blood between two of different races would ipso facto NOT be race related. It would be stupid to toss that out as a possible element of the bad blood.

It's a bit weird, because I can't work out for myself what my overall point is:

On the one hand:
- Do I think he's an I-llegitimate symbol of the anti-racism protests? No, he was murdered like an animal, very likely his skin color played a subconscious role.
- Should the Floyd symbol be swapped with the Ahmed Aubrey one? But it wouldn't have as much power, even if Aubrey's was a 100% clear-cut hate crime.

On the other hand:
I just don't think it was a hate crime, previous bad blood between the two seemed to be the main motivator.

the fact that chauvin looked directly into a camera, knowing he was being filmed as he murdered floyd, speaks volumes. he obviously seemed to think he'd get away with doing what he did, in broad daylight, because floyd was a black guy and the system was weighted/dirty enough for him not to be held accountable. without the footage provided by that girl bystander on her phone, he might well have. does anyone believe he could have meted out the same treatment to a white guy with such impunity?

also: both the nightclub owner that hired him (to sit in his cop car outside her nightclub on his time off) and the employee, who confirmed chauvin and floyd had 'knocked heads' more than once, stated they thought chauvin had issues with black men, was intimidated by them and so more reactionary in dealing with them. scared little man hiding behind a gun and a badge.

There’s also the possibility he was just stupid.

The world is full of them.

Maybe you should consider the idea, that his motivation was not race.....but power.

Think about it.

And that class is a perfect example of institutional racism.

The cops arrogant belief that he could get away with that level of brutality against a black man while being recorded is stunning.

The fact that he didn’t/hasn’t undermines the argument.

sure. 18 complaints, only 2 disciplinary actions didn't show him a thing about mistreating people in his role as a police officer. not. a. thing.

of course power was his get-off, power OVER a black man.

fuck off with your 'think about it', you numpty.

Why isn't a power motivation about race when different races are involved?

If you don't think the white nationalist (and Trumpian) response to black and brown people growing in population proportion in the United States is about power, you're full of shit. No, wait . . .

You’ll never see me say that he hasn’t worked and gotten lucky within the system.

What I won’t say is that every complaint is valid.

The jails are also full of innocent people, just ask them. I’m sure none ever filled a bogus complaint, and that they were all simply hushed up to protect him.

Racism is all about power you fucking imbecile.

Think about it.

Hey fuckwad, hate to tell you....but power-hungry assholes, are not always racist.
When it's about power....the pricks are equal opportunity.

Fuck....you are so stupid.

Without the video footage he very likely would have. The culture of white privilege, especially as a cop, to act extrajudicially, is classic institutional racism. Just like the Ahmaud Arbery killers. White=good, Black=bad. This trope is perpetuated throughout society. The white race even co-opted Jesus and made him Caucasian, though he was most likely a person of color.

But he didn’t. You can throw every other instance of white people being evil that you want into it, but that doesn’t change the fact that using him as your prime example undermines the argument.

He’s charged, he’s locked up, there will be a day in court.

The system worked in spite of this institutional boogeyman you seek to expose.

Bullshit. He was only charged after protesters burned down the fucking police station.

Four days later fuck all had happened to him.

Any arrest within the statute of limitations is legally considered timely.

Taking time for the prosecution to get their ducks in a row usually tends to strengthen the case.

That’s usually a good thing.

I don’t see the problem.

Institutional racism is like your body odor. You don't notice it because it's your body odor and your used to it. You actually think you smell good. Unfortunately the people around you, who are not you, think you smell like shit. And because you're an entitled fuck, you're not going to take a bath even when people tell you that you smell like shit. You'll deny you smell like shit, then get mad and attack them for saying you smell like shit. Then you'll say they smell like shit even when you know they don't and you know you haven't taken a bath in months.

Do you understand now???

Which reminds me:
Does anyone know what happened to those who burned down the NYC Police station, or occupied the Seattle one?

Rudi Giuliani was fuming.

He said that Police stations contain ++ high-grade combat gear and confidential info on citizens on which Police received complaints.
And that criminals held in Police cells risked either being burned alive, or being released into the population.

Nope. I still see things the same way, that analogy merely told me a couple of things about you.
