Lawmakers in Ohio said on Wednesday they want to force convicted sex offenders to use a fluorescent-green licence plate on their cars so they can be easily identified.

How about Hot Pink for Gays and Lesbians?

Maybe Black with White lettering for convicted Murderers.

Hmmmm, lets toss a cross on the plates of Christians other than Catholics.

Don't forget to toss the Star of Dvid on the cars of those Jews who might be hanging about.

Oh hell we can keep on adding to this list. Give me some ideas for plates for the unwanted.

Of course not Rob. How could you dare to think that way. The lawmakers are only doing this to protect the innocent. Why if someone with one of these plates is killed then it is only justice.

I have young children, of course I want to know if a pedophile is living next door, but damn.

There will be two kind of sex offenders. Those with the resources and connections to write the ownership of their car over to someone else. (Wife, friend, the local hobo.) And those who can't even roll to the supermarket whithout having their tires slashed on a regular basis. With the result that they don't drive it.

So unless they tattoo it into their foreheads, the law will do sod all.

Now, now, you're all missing the point. It's not merely so that moms can keep their kids away from cards with bright green plates. Or so that everyone knows that the person next door must be a sex offender because of his plates. The point is also that this will deter folk from committing sex-offender crimes. They'll see how awful the life of the sex offender is (aka, the one wearing the scarlet letter) and they won't ever do such a thing. No sir!

Hey, the motto is, you keep trying wacky ideas until you find that one-pill-cures-all law. Because, surely, such a law exists and if you put it into practice all evil will vanish from the world
