The Earth Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Congrats to the winners! As the annoying cliche goes, a good time was had by all, even those of us in the losers' circle.

PL, I think you get out of Nude Day, but not Summer Lovin'. Perhaps that's where Ivy and Adam can have some fun. ;) My guess is no one mentioned it because we all assumed you would write the sequel. Don't let us down now!

LOL We'll see. I think there's a six-month lag or so on winning the themed contests. I actually had a Summer Lovin' idea, maybe, with more of my "reindeer." We shall see. As for sequels -- egads, I have so many ideas running around, and no time to write them, I don't need more!

Actually what I need is my my daughter to go to sleep so I can assemble the scooter for her birthday tomorrow...

Here is a quote from Laurel's announcement:

Manu and I would like to thank all the authors who submitted during this special contest! We've tallied the reader's votes, and are happy to announce the winners of our 2011 Earth Day Contest.

First Place ($150 Cash Prize Winner):
Going Green by sleeplessgurl

Second Place ($100 Cash Prize Winner):
Heart of the Wood by LesLumens

Third Place ($75 Cash Prize Winner):
Lost in the Woods by PennLady

Thanks again to everyone who voted, submitted, or was involved in Literotica in any way.

Congratulations to the contest winners.

I had fun writing all my stories.

Looking forward to the Nude Day contest.

PennLady, admitting and proving are different things. LOL Goodluck getting her to settle down (after all her bday is tomorrow and happy birthday to Mom too) and on assembling the scooter.

She is still not sleeping, but she's fairly quiet and there's a gate on her door so I did get the scooter assembled. It's now hidden in the basement. Thankfully we have my son's little league game tonight to keep any basement curiosity to a minimum. :)

Wow! I'm floored.

Oh my god! I am so totally stunned by this. Thank you so much to everyone who voted! Congratulations to LesLumens (Dark) and PennLady.

Also, thanks to all the authors for your delightful story entries. I've had a chance to read most of them, and have very much enjoyed reading them. What an exciting roller coaster it's been entering this contest.

Still totally floored.

And now for the Last Place Contest

Congratulations to the Winners, and for the rest there is still the Authors' Hangout Earth Day 2011 Last Place (tm) Contest:

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided.
Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Og (whose decision is final unless you all gang up on me)

Off to see if the scores are matching up to make it worth doing a quick track. Votes won't change until later, so I'll wait until the normal time to do those.

I had 4.79 on 68 votes when I walked in a few minutes ago. Six votes swept since this morning. 29 total that I was able to catch from my author page.

EDIT:

Scores moved around a little, but I seriously doubt that all the pages have updated ( I've noticed that the reader-side author lists don't update at the same time, and this is where I gather scores. It's just the most reliable location where all story scores are always available. )

Here's the link to my main stats page, where this and all previous tracks exist: Lit Stats Home if you want to start from the beginning of the track.

Otherwise, here's the one I just went through and snagged the scores for. ONLY the scores have been updated in this track. The "next" link on this page goes nowhere, as it's there to link to the final track, which I'll do tonight, and add a few things such as sweep percentages to.

Congrats to the winners and good job to all who participated in the OFFICIAL Literotica contest. :)

What a joke!!!!

Well I guess that at the end of the day even the QUEEN :cattail: couldn’t stomach darkboy winning first place. So she pulled the rabbit out of the hat and sleepygirl’s name popped up.

winner celebrating but oh so tired after spending the night sweeping??? leapfrogging???

It doesn’t take a genius to look at the numbers and figure out some shenanigans were going on in the palace. The winner was sucking the hind tit yesterday and somehow she leapfrogged 4 or 5 others.

Good for you honey! Better you than having another Sci-Fi/Non Human, Romance or Gay story winning. At least LAUREL’S :cattail: figured out that her credibility was shot given some of the winners she’s been announcing lately.

Of course the real tragedy is that again, for the 73rd straight themed contest, the people’s choice again did not win!

MOST VIEWS … MOST VOTES … MOST COMMENTS … MOST FAVORITES…

Combined with a very respectable rating (which was much higher before the suspicious sweep)

For yours truly, and for all of us at ScouriesWorld, and for all the readers and voters of A.I.R., THE REAL WINNER WAS:

Sucking hind tit, at second in the rankings? When it was third in the rankings the previous day? When it has been in the top 5 for almost the entire contest?

Try to ignore our resident troll, sleeplessgurl. He attacks the winners in each and every contest. There's enough whine from his sour grapes to put France out of business.

And honestly, scouries. You even caught my hidden message that I added this morning to my tracking post last night.

For posterity: If I place today, scouries goes ballistic with the cheater/chapter/alien/category sour grapes. If not, he claims 'the Queen' has finally listened to his 'infinite wisdom' *rolls eyes* + going ballistic as above

Last edited by Darkniciad : Today at 07:39 AM.

Despite that, you're still going to prove my crystal ball right by claiming your infinite wisdom *chuckle* had anything to do with the results?

*snicker*

Congrats tio the winners and congrats to everyone who entered. The idea is to write and have fun. Too bad someone can't get that idea through his thick skull.

Thank you, Darkniciad. Appreciate you defending my story, but scouries doesn't bother me. Honestly, I'm too much of a newbie to even know how to game the system. Hell, I didn't even know about sweeps till after I entered the contest and started reading this thread. It's been quite a learning experience. :)

I'd like to echo what others have said, Dark, we do appreciate all the work you do tracking the scores and sharing that info. Thanks!

The SCORE is what makes a story win a contest, stupid. Non of the above mean a damned thing to the contest except in your babbling egotistical bullship.

Keep ranting there scoruries, more and more people put you on ignore. Well all except me. I'm going to keep sticking needles in your ego balloons for as long as I'm around, which I hope is a very long time.

You say you have me on ignore but your alter ego Gabby the blowup doll doesn't. have her read this to you.

I enjoy it, even if it is a lot of work. The whole point is to have solid data that people can look at to understand the sweeps and performance of the various categories across several contests.

And to debunk the malicious lies of our resident troll with cold, hard facts.

Congratulations on your win! Don't forget to PM Laurel to confirm it, so you can get your information to her, and get that check in the mail.

Don't forget to cash it, either. I still have mine from '09 because I forgot to cash the thing *laugh*

Here's the evening track:

http://www.darkniciad.com/hotlink_pics/earth_day_2011_z.htm

Didn't capture the final sweep with this one. Instead, it looks like I captured the final flurry of votes that always seem to hit at the last minute. The scores in the toplist ( which should be from just before the sweep ) show the usual pattern, which are a lot of low-ball votes dropping the scores, which are then swept in the final sweep, resulting in the final scores.

I left the scores from the track earlier in the day, and updated everything else.

Because of this, I'm going to do one more track tomorrow ( thus, still having a linked "next" which is a dead link for the moment.

( Also need to go back and fix every stinking one of the bottom of page Next links, as I screwed up and didn't change something on the template, so every bloody one of them is wrong... Grrr... )

The track tomorrow will probably capture most of the final sweeps. The exceptions will probably be the three stories that placed. Those typically generate enough new votes to negate or at least minimize the visibility of the final sweep.

On another note, based upon where it stands now, I'd say that the track tomorrow will put the total views on contest stories over the 1 Million mark :D

When I do that track, I'm not going to move the rankings, just update all the data ( scores will probably change, especially on the stories that placed ) I'll add the sweep percentages to that track.

Ouch, that 3 rank drop at the end was painful :)

Then the jump from 7th to 2nd the day before was equally surprising. I'm guessing the trollshit got scrubbed off my story a little before the penultimate day snapshot and then the rankings went back to roughly where they were before when the hoover got round to the other stories near the top.

Congrats to the winners. Very tight battle for third place by the looks of things.

I'm surprised I came so close with a 'bad end' horror story. :)

Manyeyedhydra, I'm with you on the yo-yo effect. I went to bed the night before the last day with 4.77, woke up with 4.71 (only 3 new votes), and have settled in at 4.74. Lots of bouncing around between 1st place and 7th, and ending at 6th. I entered late in the contest (usually enter first few days) and accumulated half the amount of votes because of it. Interesting results. My Winter entry settled in at 26th place. I'm not sure about Valentine's. I don't think that one was tracked. I can't complain at that progress! :)

Blue Jays arrived this morning (5 of them) and Goldfinches this afternoon. Great day for bird watching!

Happy Earth Day tomorrow, everyone!

I'm up 10 votes and .03 in score to 4.82 since the contest closed. Getting ready to do that final track.

And here's the final track of the Earth Day 2011 contest.

Looks like there's a lot of post-contest voting, so the sweep totals/percentages/etc. are going to be way off from that. Still, most stories other than the three that placed should be on about an equal footing, so the numbers still have meaning.

http://www.darkniciad.com/hotlink_pics/earth_day_2011_final.htm

Made it over the one million view mark with this track.

The average percentage of votes swept was around 20% in the track. I suspect that it's closer to the 30% that I've calculated in the past, though.

You should be able to copy/paste this page into a spreadsheet program and sort the list by any column, if you want to check out where you were in vote totals, or comments, etc.

The "Lit Stats Home" link will return you to the page where I've linked to all of the contests I've tracked, if you want to check out previous contests.

Thanks for all the work you did collecting these stats. Did you have to copy these numbers in by hand every night? If so, geesh, make that a really big thanks.
