Additionally, i have kids i'm trying to parent, one of whom is 13 now and looking for any reason in the world not to obey all the rules in her life. I avoided it until I was 19 - after which, on the weekends, it was almost as if I had joined a reggae band.....

I still indulge every once in a while, though not too often. I haven't been able to deal with it's effects properly for a while. Because, for me, I almost instantly become VERY horny.....and I haven't had a horniness outlet for a LONG time (see any of my posts referring to the past 5 years). The second effect, if no horniness outlet is available (my apologies, ladies - I'll bet you have never heard yourselves referred to as "horniness outlets"), is that I get the KILLER munchies. I already have too many lines of longitude around my equator, so this can be a danger for me. I also tend to eat weird combinations of things - thinking that they taste good at the time, then belching the next day and thinking "Where the hell did THAT taste come from??"

You should, you seem very intelligent and I am sure you have covered this topic with her. You do not want her smoking anything at 13 I am sure, no more then you do wanting her to try your..........uhhhh other quirks...

I've only been high second hand -- my dad and his friends were the smokers. Still are. He grows the stuff in his backyard. His old neighbours thought they had skunk problems.

I'd never smoked until I was 29 years old. Then I went to visit a friend of mine who was determined to "corrupt" me. We didn't leave the house once. We spent the entire weekend getting high, playing video games, watching porn and fucking.

That was a fun weekend.

I haven't smoked in about a year and a half. I don't really have a supplier and it's not that important to me so it's really not one of my priorities. But I enjoy it in moderation, when I have access to it.

Count me in the crowd with Renegade. Though I suppose it's not a crowd with only 2 of us. I've never smoked a joint, or a cigarette for that matter.

Other drugs (prescription) however, I have partaken of -- when prescribed to me. Those things are wild....and I can certainly see how people could become addicted.

I have to agree with you there, Dixon. There's nothing like performing and hearing an audience laugh.....or not hearing the audience because they are moved by your performance. And, at the end...the applause - and if you're fortunate, a standing ovation - I tell you....no drink...no drug.....not even great sex comes CLOSE to the high......

This is my vision:

I am watching television and a commercial comes on. I reach for the remote to turn it down but before I can, the screen fills with an intelligent male face, kind and sincere looking, and he tells us he is a family doctor, working in the same town for over 30 years...fade to a woman in a police uniform who tells us her profession...one after another, the faces of different human beings fill the screen for 30 seconds, each telling us what they're contributing to society ie. teachers, lawyers, janitors..what have you....The screen fades to black and a voice asks what do these people have in common? They all smoke marijuana regularly.

It's a much more honest picture than the Reagan era War Against Drugs propaganda that they used to brainwash America with. "This is your brain on drugs...sizzle sizzle"....why not show the other side?

I have indulged for 25 years on a fairly consistent user basis. I am a responsible single adult. I own my own home. I work for the local University. I pay my bills and my taxes. I don't drink and I don't smoke tobacco. I resent the laws against legalization, when alcohol and tobacco are legal and sugar is king and peddled to children in pretty colors and zany cartoon characters. Talk about your addiction! I am sick of the double standard. Don't make me out to be the criminal for my choice to imbibe in a euphoric substance that affects no one other than myself.

I tried it once while back , it was spring break and I got locked out of my room.

I hook up with these guys and we were talking & what not ... then one of them had some joints... they taught me how to "smoke" that night. I had fun but that was my last time and I don't really care for it.

Another none user, job would be done and livlyhood lost so with family to support never tried drugs of any kind. Smoke cigarrets though for a many a year was bacly addicted and then quit with help of gum in 1992.

Now liquor I still use, a brandy from snifter, all aromatic and tasty to sip on in the evening.
