After work, I stopped by my go to liquor store. In a bit of a hurry, I spotted the lone bottle of Noily Pratt, scooped it up and headed home.
Later, I discovered it to be 'rouge'. Ah well, went with it. It has a very slightly sweet, berry essence. Not the taste I'm looking for.
I'll gp back for the Dolin later today. (Means I have to get dressed)

After mixing and drinking the martinii, I did discover I mixed too much. Enough for two. No wonder martinis aren't a plentiful drink. As the drink warms, it is not as tasty as when well chilled.

On the mean time, it's gin and tonic. Any body want one? Or wait for the martinis later.

Too bad. You're absolutely right. It's not the right flavor for a martini. But it's what you need for a Manhattan or a Negroni. Two classic cocktails.

Manhattans have 2 oz whiskey and 1 oz of your rouge vermouth, plus a cherry and a bit of the cherry juice. Lots of folks like Canadian whiskey in theirs, I prefer bourbon or rye. Sometimes even Irish whiskey. A dash of bitters is always in order as well.

Negroni's are 1 oz. Gin, 1 oz Campari, 1 oz.rouge (red) vermouth. Campari is an acquired taste, but it's a very complex and sophisticated taste.

I just found out I am going out tonight to watch a friend's band play, so I'll take a Gin and Tonic now, but will probably switch it up to beer later.
It's a beer kinda place.

I had Campari, vodka, splash of Soda and fresh basil muddled. It was sooooo good. Bitter. I loved it.
