The Department of Government Efficiency (aka DOGE)

During a podcast, where he defended doge cuts and more, billionaire lutnick claimed that most people, especially the elderly, wouldn't mind if their payments stopped out of the blue and only 'fraudsters' would ring up to complain about it. This comes on the heels of his idea that the Social Security payments should in fact get stopped just so they can assess who these 'fraudsters' might be! And by 'fraudsters, I mean those who depend month-to-month on their S.S income... lutnick either is so far removed from the reality of SS payments that he doesn't have a clue or he's totally unconcerned about this percentage of the American population.

In one exchange, Lutnick — who has a net worth of approximately $2 billion according to Investopedia — suggested that the best approach to root out fraud within the Social Security Administration (SSA) was to "stop payments and listen." He also argued that only a "fraudster" would call the SSA if they missed their monthly Social Security payment.

"I describe it to people this way: Let's say Social Security didn't send out their checks this month. My mother-in-law, who is 94, she wouldn't call and complain. She just wouldn't. She'd think something got messed up, and she'll get it next month," said Lutnick, who paid for his 16,250 square-foot mansion with $25 million in cash. "A fraudster always makes the loudest noise, screaming, yelling and complaining."

"Elon [Musk] knows this by heart," he continued. "Anyone who's been in the payment system and the process system knows the easiest way to find a fraudster is to stop payments and listen. Because whoever screams is the one stealing!"

Lutnick and Bessent were supposedly the sane-ish voices of financial reason in this administration, but both have already proven to be useless weasels. It doesn’t bode well.

What is infuriating is the fact that the common MAGAts probably found Lutnick’s comments reasonable & persuasive. I can just picture the MAGAts nodding their slack-jawed heads in unison.

It makes total sense that a fraudster would draw attention to themselves if they didn’t receive their scammed check, but a legitimate recipient living check to check would just accept a missed payment without questioning it…

🙄

What a fool believes (What a conman peddles)…

IRS personnel cuts are going to add to the deficit and national debt.

Cutting 7,000 IRS staffers would save about $7 billion in personnel costs over a decade, but lead to $71 billion in foregone tax revenue. That’s $64 billion added to the national debt.

Cutting 50,000 staffers would save $45 billion in personnel costs over a decade while cutting the amount of collected tax revenue by $323 billion. That’s $286 billion added to the national debt.

The IRS itself seems to expect lower tax revenue this year as DOGE hamstrings tax-collection efforts. The agency forecasts a 10% decline in collected revenue, according to the Washington Post. That would add $500 billion to the national debt per year.

The Musk/Trump administration doesn’t care about anything other than making it easier for rich people to cheat on taxes. (Payroll deduction makes it very difficult for average wage earners to cheat on taxes).

1000003290.jpgFuck the UN! What have they EVER done for us? NOTHING but take our tax payer dollars! THEY ARE DONE!

You know, the world might have avoided WWII, if the U.S. had joined the League of Nations.

During the Cold War, RWs often called the UN Communist-influenced -- but it was only on UN authority that the U.S. intervened in the Korean War.

Now DOGE is pretending it discovered unemployment insurance fraud that was actually found years ago.

All the MAGAs have is pretense! 😆

The latest government waste touted by billionaire Elon Musk’s cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency is hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent unemployment claims it purportedly uncovered.

One problem: Federal investigators already found what appears to be the same fraud, years earlier and on a far greater scale.

Though DOGE ostensibly looked at longer timeframe than federal investigators previously had, it tallied just $382 million in fake unemployment claims, a tiny fraction of what investigators were already aware.

lol, how to say you have no idea how "charity" works without using those words. Show us on the doll where the UN hurt you!

So, maybe the Pentagon should stop paying suppliers and find out who's cheating them?

As the Trump administration prepared to cancel contracts at the Department of Veteran Affairs this year, officials turned to a software engineer with no health care or government experience to guide them.

The engineer, working for the Department of Government Efficiency, quickly built an artificial intelligence tool to identify which services from private companies were not essential. He labeled those contracts “MUNCHABLE.”
he had to throw together a tool to help identify 'wasteful' projects/spending in just one day, given the timeline he was given of some 90,000 contracts to be reviewed in just 30 days. He had no formal training in AI though did have 15 years as a software engineer and worked briefly for Pinterest then his own business, Gumroad where he had to lay of 75% of his workforce due to its near collapse. His use of 'off the shelf', outdated tools and lack of proper AI training created disastrous results!
The code, using outdated and inexpensive AI models, produced results with glaring mistakes. For instance, it hallucinated the size of contracts, frequently misreading them and inflating their value. It concluded more than a thousand were each worth $34 million, when in fact some were for as little as $35,000.

The DOGE AI tool flagged more than 2,000 contracts for “munching.”

This is what the guy said about his own tool's code flaws:
Sahil Lavingia, the programmer enlisted by DOGE, which was then run by Elon Musk, acknowledged flaws in the code.

“I think that mistakes were made,” said Lavingia, who worked at DOGE for nearly two months. “I’m sure mistakes were made. Mistakes are always made. I would never recommend someone run my code and do what it says. It’s like that ‘Office’ episode where Steve Carell drives into the lake because Google Maps says drive into the lake. Do not drive into the lake.”

It's yet to be identified how many 'munchables' have been implemented, but given the programmer's own opinion of the tool he used to make those calls NOT ONE should have been.

The more that comes out about DOGE, the more justification there is for impeachment and prosecution of everyone involved with it.
