The Department of Government Efficiency (aka DOGE)

A sea cucumber has more spine than johnson... he's telling gop reps to skip town halls, concentrate on smaller stuff like little community gatherings (just magats or all-out trump acolytes) and possibly tele-halls, because all the nasty people are really paid professionals hired by dems to grab a platform. Dems are constituents, too, and he's doing a great disservice to all of the regular republicans who are suddenly aware they might be impacted by trump's decisions when they'd thought it'd only be the brown-skinned folks and cheating dems, illegal immigrants and commies who would get what was coming.

The speaker protecting his thin-as-ever majority advised his lawmakers to choose other forums — smaller community gatherings or telephone town halls — to discuss the issues with voters.

“They’re running away from the people because they know how badly people have been hurt by what they’re doing,” said Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.

Engineers and executives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency are drawing healthy taxpayer-funded salaries—sometimes from the very agencies they are cutting.


Some staffers at Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency are drawing robust taxpayer-funded salaries from the federal agencies they are slashing and burning, WIRED has learned.

Jeremy Lewin, one of the DOGE employees tasked with dismantling USAID, who has also played a role in DOGE’s incursions into the National Institutes of Health and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is listed as making just over $167,000 annually, WIRED has confirmed. Lewin is assigned to the Office of the Administrator within the General Services Administration.

Kyle Schutt, a software engineer at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is listed as drawing a salary of $195,200 through GSA, where he is assigned to the Office of the Deputy Administrator. That is the maximum amount that any “General Schedule” federal employee can make annually, including bonuses. “You cannot be offered more under any circumstances,” the GSA compensation and benefits website reads.

When Elon Musk started recruiting for DOGE in November, he described the work as “tedious” and noted that “compensation is zero.” WIRED previously reported that the DOGE recruitment effort relied in part on a team of engineers associated with Peter Thiel and was carried out on platforms like Discord.

What's the recourse of someone gets divorced or kills themselves because they lost their job only to have it be re-offered the following week?
 
It is becoming obvious that DOGE is completely incompetent to improve government efficiency.

Musk should have assembled a team of efficiency experts and forensic accountants. Those exist, they're available.

According to the Des Moines Register, Reynolds currently makes $130,000 a year.

it's not the first time we've seen drastic cuts made to workforces or their benefits even as the 'bosses' get golden raises. This kind of shit is the worst of America.
