The Construction Thread

It was in the air and curved with loose ties around. Maybe cleaning up after a derailment
It sure broke loose

I'd buy that.

How do you do that job without getting swacked in the kisser?

I say grab it in the center with a fat chain and drag it with a dozer. Let that stress pay out in the dirt.

Really need the experience in a situation like that.
The kid didn't have it and the guy that told him to watch out didn't either..bummer

He was warned...fuck that would hurt
Young worker. No gloves. Weird communication prior to all hell breaking loose.
What loaded that rail???
Not if it just crushed your skull in about 4".
At least, not for long.

MotherFuckingHell.

If he lived, that fellow's next memory was waking up in the ER.

When I was in my teens, I worked summers as a gandy dancer. It was the hardest fucking labor I ever did.

Part of the job required cutting rail. As dumb as I was at the time, even I knew better than to cut rail that wasn't lying firmly on the ground.

A band-aid being applied to a bridge just outside of Fairbanks.

Says the AKDOT, "Our bridge maintenance crew lifted one end of the bridge by about two feet to its original elevation. The bridge has been slowly sinking down into the bog for a while now, but the crew beefed up the supports and leveled it out so Goldstream commuters can have a *slightly* less bumpy ride into town, at least for permafrost country. This isn't a permanent fix--we'll need a new bridge for that---"
