The Construction Thread

In all fairness, come on. You have to at least put on a show if a news crew is filming you.

That was the job where I started wearing a hard hat all the time. Inspector kept returning 'often'. After a while it just wasn't worth it to drop what I was doing and make a scramble for my hard hat when the call went through the building he had come back.

Working for Dow Chemical made me a safety Nazi. Wouldn't dream of working unsafely now. Habit more than anything.

Being a foreman and having to do depositions for muppets getting hurt is what did it to me.

The hood on my polar parka is large enough to accommodate a hard hat on my head.

This is going to take a while Boss, things are kind of a mess here at the moment.

We got all safety conscious at the club when the Pres. walked up and saw a woman wielding the electric chainsaw with a long scarf hanging down. Face shield, no dangling clothes and sign off on a safety chainsaw orientation to use it now. Only electric so may not have killed herself but still would have left a hell of a mark. Mostly young kids wield it at Christmas for making fresh cut on end of trees. Old fuckers refuse to wear face shield or take orientation. Hopefully younger kids will not follow example of old fuckers and develop good safety habits.

We have a box of safety glasses and work gloves out during construction projects. Minimalist though. Just have to hope some one is mature enough or not desperate enough to sue should an accident occur.

As a sheetmetal worker sometimes I would notice heavy slashes in boot leather. Could never understand not wearing safety boots on job sites. Plus very handy foot hammers. Always wore prescription glasses so had half assed protected eyes.

Parade boots good enough for army warehouse. Not sure if army engineers wear/wore safety boots.
