Evidence: The distortion of ascending chronological order of posts.

Anyone else notice this?

Anyone else afraid?

Ah dinnae think so laddy. Seems to be the mood that stirs the ship at the moment....

If the posts are being sorted by time, could it be that the sorter puts 10, 11 and 12 between 1 and 2?

I sometimes use Entourage for e-mail, and it can't sort by time or date worth a damn.

But this seems to be a recent phenomenon. And it has occurred quicker than that. The first posts are being supplanted almost immediately by the second and third.

No, editing doesn't cause the problem.

The problem is the rsult of Literotica being spread over several servers. Whenthe time gets out of synch on one of the servers, it causes the time stamp of a post to be earlier than when it was actually posted.

Currently, it appears the time difference is only about 45 seconds or so, but it has been off as much as twelve hours which caused new posts to drop threads to page four -- apparently disappearing from the board.

Bah! There's no time for rationality Harold! Much less plausible explanations! This a time for panic!

Trust Harold to know what the problem is. TY for putting my mind at rest.

I have seen this in the past, so I'm not afraid. But I do wonder what is happening sometimes.

Ok, so it's somebody's been feeding their Gremlins in the shower after midnight. Is that better?

*wiggles finger*

Yeah, yeah...that's about right. Yeah, now that I think about it one second later that's absolutely right!

It IS Voodoo! Let's burn something!

Is this one of those situations where we have to start sacrificing virgins in order to make it stop?

Every time the board has gone "out of synch", the board has crashed within a short time afterwards.

It happened last nite.

It happened the nite before last.

Both times in the vicinity of 10pm Eastern.

It happened big time once before that I recall with the board staying live through it a few months ago.

Wierd Harold has offered one explanation.

I suggest the service interuptions are linked to the synch errors and that they are evidence of mischief by outsiders.

Let's not be dragging Outsider into this.

The board needs an exorcism, apparently.

I was just reading a REDWAVE thread - the whole thing - I may need one, too.

BTW - Hello to two of my favorite Lit people, too.

Weird Harold has offerd THE explanation for this problem.

It may or may not be related to the system crashes at 2200 EST, but one of lit's servers is known to have a chronic fast clock. When the utility that is supposed to synch the server clocks to a standard time reference crashes or the standard time site the utility references is down, then this problem crops up. It's been happening periodically for a little over a year now and is a known problem with a known cause.

Your first statement is definitive.

Your second statement...about the current issue....is a guess, as evidenced by your use of the word "may".

As you pride yourself on being correct, I note that you have (correctly) admitted that you do not know "THE" explanation for the 10pm Eastern crashes.

You have a theory involving clocks.

Ishmael has a conspiracy theory involving person(s) in the Eastern time zone.

I believe it's hacker(s) of unknown origin.

Any other theories folks?

Hola, MBB. I was waiting for a post of yours so I could click the PM thing under it. I don't know who performs exorcisms these days.

I heard the priest that allegedly performed the one they made a movie out of died.

No, Harold's answer is still better.
