The Bitch Thread

No, I have crohns. Why?

Oh, a friend was telling me about something that really helped her flareups.
But I doubt it'll help you if it's not the same thing.
Something called probiotics.

I think I have strep again.
Also I was really enjoying Ellen's birthday show and Dubya has been blathering on over most of it and is still going.
I DON'T CARE, YOU'RE NOT MY PRESIDENT.
Other countries should be able to override these things, I swear. I hardly ever get to watch daytime stuff.

Probiotics? Is it like an antibiotic? Crohns and colitis are actualy very similar and the same meds work on them. The biggest difference is the severity of the ulcers. People with CD can literally get perforations in their colon from the ulcers. We can also get fistulas and other types of sores. People with UC just get normal everyday ulcers.

It wasn't about ulcers or antibiotcs. Lemme see the paper she gave me:
The fire of ulcerative colitis yielded to probiotics (healthy bacteria) in a new University of Alberta, Canada, study. 32 people with drug resistant flare-ups took VSL #3, which contains good bacteria, twice a day. After 6 weeks, 18 had complete relief from the pain and diarrhea, 8 had some improvement, 3 felt the same, and 3 felt worse. A bad bacteria overload is thought to play a role in colitis, but few studies have tested probiotics. Talk to your gastroenterologist about VSL #3. It's available over the counter.

Apparently they're packets of powder you put in fluid. I get diarrhea and cramping from IBS and she wondered if it might not help me too, but I thought of you, actually.

That is so sweet. *hugs*

As to the whole 'good bacteria/bad bacteria' thing, I've heard this before. I actualy have one med I take like twice a year that kills all the bacteria in my colon, and another I take (with it) that replaces the good bacteria.

I understand.
I had to deal with a variety of offices during my stay at university. Once I got caught up in the middle of a turf war between two offices, that was nasty.
I was just trying to throw you some options.
One suggestion - if someone says they can't help you and expects you to leave, just stand there. Don't glare or anything, just don't leave. Eventually they will give you information or something to get you to leave. They don't know how to deal with it. It's not like you're bitching or anything - they get that every day. I've found it quite effective.

Finally, DO NOT apologize for being cranky - that is the primary reason for this thread!

Thank you Brioche. I am glad to say I got the problem taken care of. It's always fun to find and take in paperwork that proves that those trying to screw you are oh so very wrong. :D I'll be getting my FA check sometime next week.

I'm very happy for you!

I'm tired. My stomach feels like one fiery ball of pain. How in the world are you supposed to sleep by yourself when you've slept with the same person for the last 8 years?

Stop whining!
He is not dead or leaving you for good, is he? People have to deal with being temporary apart all the time. During the first years of my marriage I went to sea for 5-6 months at a time. It was part of the deal. Later I went on business trips for weeks and sometimes months. Part of the deal, too! Me being held captive in Iran during the Iran-Iraq war and not knowing what was going to happen wasn't part of the deal, but we lived through that, too. Waking up in bed on a sunday morning because sensing something is wrong, and feel her life slipping away through my fingers wasn't part of the deal either, but I keep living, and I do sleep at night! So give us a fucking break!
End of rant!

Then don't read my posts. This is the bitching and whining thread. If I wanna whine I will.

Whoa!

I had no idea you had been through so much.

My heart goes out to you.

I know how you feel. When my ex and I broke up, it was awful to sleep alone, after sharing a bed every night for over five years. = ( It'll be better, though, he'll be back.

I know. I just am not feeling well, and felt like belly aching. That's what I like about this thread, I don't have to be upbeat and cheerful.

Quite frankly I've been bleeding. And D (the two year old) spends all day trying to talk me into going to see his Daddy.

...and I know how you feel Chicklet. I broke it off with my ex a little over six months ago after 5 years. Though my bed has in no way been empty, I'm too hungry for that to happen, I have slept alone each night since the break up.
But I also know that being alone for a period after a break up can be a good and productive thing in which you rediscover your self and redraw the lines of tolerance.

Good luck.

If you don't want to hear this stuff, you're in the wrong thread, mister.
I'm sorry to hear about your past problems, but this thread exists as a place where we can vent our petty problems (and sometimes bigger ones) without being censured and get some compassion. This way we don't clutter other thread with such minutiae but we get it off our chests. And others commisserate. Gracie came here when she missed her husband. She also came when her grandmother died suddenly, and learned about funeral airfares. Quite simply, if you don't want to read about such things: Go'way.

I didn't kill the thread did I ?
Andante just made me cranky.
Also, I'm in the doghouse because I forgot my Dad's birthday, so it's a bummer day for me.

No, you didn't kill the thread. No one killed the thread.

*hugs*

Get over little dog, big ole dog is moving in?

*hugs* Sorry you're in the dog house.

As for killing it, he made me a tad bit cranky myself. I cannot fathom why people who object to whining choose to read the posts in this thread.

Actually, I only came to see that post of yours because someone else told me about it, and how upset it made them. So I went and looked, and instantly went into that mood where I thought "FFS, get a life!".
You all say it's a place where people can go to whine about whatever bothers them. Well, that's what I did, end of story!
