Wow! The Dear X thread in this forum was closed in 2013 and whatever replaced it was nuked. It’s hard to imagine it’s been so many years without a Dear X thread in this forum.

Please use this to write what you want or need to say to whomever, Lit-related or not. Covert messages, screaming into the digital void, whatever you need.

Dear regulars in this forum,

It’s been years since we were required to close the lengthy threads. I’m curious as to your opinion on these. If you come across an old thread that was closed due to being over 5,000 posts and want to open it for meaningful discourse, shoot me a PM with a link.

I nearly opened this one instead of starting a new thread, but it had been down for so long it didn’t feel right. Plus, it’s not a discussion thread, even if ocasional discussions did pop up.

Posting in long abandoned threads to revive the conversation is a good thing, imo. And I personally enjoy seeing some of the usernames that pop-up. This place used to be popping with discourse.

Dear X,
Does time erase everything? I think less about it, but i still think about it. You can get to know someone- exclusively online, and if you talk to them frequently enough for a long enough period of time- they become part of your everyday real world. I have not found a you in anyone, whether in the real or just online. What makes people connect in the first place? Life is so strange and fantastic.
-PS

- i like this thread. I will Dear X so much.

You're amazing!!!! Patient, understanding, loving... But most importantly..I love loving us!!!! 😚 ❤️

That thread. Such a memorytide of amazing Litsters. I miss them all.
I do, too. I smile while scrolling through older threads, and often I end up tearing up. I would love to know how people are doing, that they are okay and just no longer needed or wanted this place.

I really miss what this place was like 2008-2015/2016. I am not sure if that’s when it started to change as my own life started getting chaotic at that point, but it does feel like the ebb and flow of this part of the world was changing then, too.

I’m glad you’re here, DGE 💚

♥️

I’m glad you’re here, too.

I suppose your experience of chaos is typical, except you stayed around and now you possess unimaginable power. I know Litizens who got sucked into currents of life and were carried away. And when one’s old friends show up less often, it’s easy for you to disappear. Also, 2016 changed a lot of people, including me.

That 2008-16 era felt like a very cool bar with all these brilliant, creative, weird late-night regulars and if you hung around for a while you were part of it. Even the conversations felt like deep drunk dorm stuff, ranging from adorably stupid to profound — the only path to truth.

[Also, listen you kids! Lemme tell you about how great things were back in the day and where’s my phone oh I’m typing on it.]
