The sorry state of the American mainstream media was never more exposed than the following clip wherein Kaitlan Collins, a CNN anchor, appeared before Stephen Colbert’s the “Late Show”. After finishing a prolonged diatribe disparaging President Trump, Colbert responded without irony, "I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is."

At this point the studio audience broke out in uproarious laughter. Collins looked genuinely flabbergasted, as she asked "Is that supposed to be a laugh line?"

Colbert replied, "It wasn't supposed to be, "but I guess it is."

Bear in mind that this show was taped in New York City, and the majority if not all of the audience consisted of Harris voters. And yet they recognized the hypocritical sophistry of Colbert’s assertion that CNN and for that matter all of mainstream media are unbiased and objective.

To state the obvious: the reason freedom of the press is guaranteed by the Constitution is the belief that the press would be the safeguard against excess or overreach by the government. Such protection is lost if the press collectively favors exclusively one party over the other. The mainstream media has become no better than a Democratic Party newsletter.

bullshit. trump said the crowd at the colbert show was ai'd and it is painfully obvious that he is 💯% correct in his astute pontification. 🤓

CNN drives me nuts with their extra right wing talking heads! Always balanced.

Check out the liberal media coverage of the childcare tax credit Harris stole from Vance. :)

Just out of curiosity how do you know the makeup of the audience?

The OP has it wrong and backwards. The Late Show with Colbert is a talk show. Kaitlyn Collins inviting Colbert for a sit down interview on her prime time news hour would probably come closer to being an instance of media bias.

Fox News is an annoyance. The real problem is the conservative slant of CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post.
I've been dealing with liberal media bias long before Fox News. The only thing I rely on is the local weather and that is only a guideline. :)

Question for the OP:

What media source(s) do you consider non-biased?
There is no media outlet that is non biased today and I would concede that Fox News is biased to the right. At least Fox News will pose tough questions to Republican politicians who have controversial viewpoints. It wasn’t always like that in the distant past, when the mainstream media was truly non biased and objective. You are probably too young to be aware of Walter Cronkite who was labeled as the most trusted man in America. That’s because, although his personal views were liberal, you wouldn’t know it from his newscasts. He was not afraid to be critical of the Democrat Party in equal measure to criticizing the Republican Party.

There is a movie titled “The Post”, which can be seen on Prime. This movie dramatizes the events leading up to the Washington Post’s publication in 1971 of the Pentagon Papers which exposed the faulty rationale for the decisions made by the various administrations in prosecuting the Viet Nam War. In contrast, the Washington Post of today has not the stomach to investigate the failings of the Biden administration, especially the disaster of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and was never curious until the debate of Biden’s mental acuity.

From my viewpoint, the only outlet I trust on giving accurate news are certain podcasts that are available on Youtube. Piers Morgan Uncensored is the best as on issues he will have as guests, two people on right hammering it out with two people on the left. My other favorite is the Megyn Kelly Show. I trust her implicitly on the accuracy of the facts she reports.

I appreciate your answer. Thank you. While I don't agree with you on several points, I won't debate them here.

I think your perception and in turn judgement of Fox is not on target. Especially given Fox's long history of conservative commentary.

I also believe that the so called "liberal bias" of "mainstream media" is not accurate. Especially given that CNN, Washington Post, Newsweek among several others are owned by individuals who support Trump and the GOP. And when one looks at Sinclair Broadcast Group it becomes an even more dubious claim.

Lastly, one thing to consider is that America is more liberal than conservative over all. Regardless of all the politics, the division, the culture wars and all the other bullshit... Americans are more liberal than conservative and the media is simply a reflection of it.

Naw.
Sorry. I question your judgement.
I call BS on anyone talking media bias who then references Fox News with a kind benefit of the doubt and then conveniently fails to mention the 786 million dollar payout to Dominion for lying LYING about the 2020 election. 😡

Dominion allowed Fox to go on its merry while taking the money without an apology. That’s fine. Fox, if it had any journalistic integrity, SHOULD have apologized to its viewers regardless of what the courts and Dominion settled for. Fox didn’t. Rupert Murdoch didn’t. We see the ripple effects of that negligence now from anyone still listening to that opinion/entertainment entity as members of Lit come to the PB and spout crap misinformation and lies still to this day about the 2020 election.

Dare I ask you if Joe Biden is the duly elected president of the United States???

You might be surprised to learn that Gallup polls Americans annually as to whether they consider themselves conservatives, liberals or moderates for decades. The results roughly show on average that the conservatives and moderates represent 40% each and only 20% identify themselves as liberals. This probably accounts for the disparity in current polls show that Trump and Harris are roughly tied in preference, but Trump has a double digit lead on the issues of the economy and immigration. See: https://news.gallup.com/poll/388988/political-ideology-steady-conservatives-moderates-tie.aspx

I have to admit, they are making great hay of that clip on NewsMax and Fox.

I do find the Freudianism somewhat amusing.

I am a very bad man...
