Just wanted the other authors, I thought there were some brilliant stories and gave them 4s and 5s. Guess I'm not competitive enough, but there was some really nice writing and I enjoyed it. I'm still new here and this is my first contest so I didn't have all this inside knowledge that author votes are swept out.

I strongly suspect that, but it's not something confirmed by Lit.

If you want to vote, by all means, vote! Even if it is going to get swept, you'll at least have made your contribution and can feel good about it

Thanks, I didn't see your reply. I'm a chronic eleventh hour submitter, so I worry. It's odd, though. I never used to be like this. Hmm.

Just a glitch in the system. They're obviously figuring something out, because it used to crank up as high as 256 before the story posted. It's down to around 40s max now, and usually lower.

Okay should really stop posting when I'm half asleep. I lost 74 votes and picked up 2 points.

Although Dark has explained it many times I still don't quite get the sweeps. Like the majority of us here I don't do anything shady with my votes yet I am sure the majority of what I lost was decent votes.

I find it hard to believe I have any fans enthusiastic enough to vote multiple times. If anything its like pulling teeth to get them to vote at all, but I guess I can never know for sure.

I'm telling you: Put an end note in there saying to only vote once, and tell them that multi-voting/downvoting doesn't help you - it hurts you!

You have no idea how industrious hardcore fans can be when it comes to trying to "help you out". When they know that they're screwing you by doing so, it seems to calm them down. It only takes one with the right amount of computer knowledge to play havoc.

The first major sweep in contests has traditionally been ugly so far as score goes. I've always called it the "cheerleader" sweep. The good news is that it's usually followed up in short order by the "Hardcore trolls" sweep. So, you usually regain anything you lost to cheerleaders. Then, it gets down to really mining into the votes.

I will hope there is another sweep if for no other reason than the trolls still have a few days to attack and now that there will be no more new entries they can just start going up and down the list.

I lost just a few votes on a couple of stories. four at most. My story with the lowest number of votes is at 294, most votes is 1101. No major changes so I believe it was a regular maintenance sweep. Should be an interesting week.
