Earth Day (April 22)
themes: nature appreciation, outdoors, etc.
starts: March 28
closes: April 13
winners announced: April 20

(From the sticky Authors! Please Read)

I know. I'm too early again but it is a reminder to me too. I didn't complete my Valentine's Day entries and I have two incomplete stories intended for the 2009 Earth Day contest. (and some for 2008, 2007 etc.)

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous contest support threads.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Og

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. As usual there's a plug for my essay: Entering A Themed Literotica Contest. You will also find helpful advice from others in the How-To section of the stories listed on Literotica. Some of that advice is much more helpful than mine because after all I'm the instigator of the Last Place Contest.

I've been working on mine for a week now. I might get it done in time for the contest :p

I'm going to enter again. I enjoyed taking part in the Valentines's contest. It was good fun.

After re-writing the entire intro from a different ange to compress it, I'm 1900 words in with the conflict just established, only one of my two primary protagonists introduced, and the antagonists nothing but mentions without faces *laugh*

At least I'm past the sticky point of establishing the continuing characters of the series in just enough detail to give sufficient sense of them to someone who hasn't read the previous entries.

Family is getting too damn big *laugh* Fortunately, I should be able to fade a lot of them into the background in next year's entry, simply highlighting my original two characters and the current generation of protagonists.

Forgive me please, but what is Earth Day ?

It's too early, and usually too cold, for outdoor sex on Earth Day, but writing about outdoor sex is on theme.

Recycling is also good. How about recycled girlfriends?

Recycled Girlfriends? Would that be group sex or reluctant/non consent? Inquiring minds and all that.

That's up to you. It could be Loving Wives (shudder!) or Romance.

If the hero decides that the girlfriend he dumped years ago is really the only one he ever loved - Romance.

If a long married couple decide to pretend they are still Boyfriend/Girlfriend - Loving Wives.

If a group of men swap ex-girlfriends between them - the category depends on the story as it would if a group of women swap ex-boyfriends.

The possibilities are almost endless...

Thanks for the reminder. I probably Should start working on my story now but I'm sure that I won't. :)

Short on Time and Inspiration

Not sure I'll be able to do this one. Possibly better to marshal my thoughts and store it all up for Nude Day. Actually there's one which occurs to me, but it would require time I just don't have right now.

We'll see...

Too early? Nah. I have two drafted and ready to go to the editor after another review.

Save the bloody stuff for Halloween. This one's all about being green and living things.

Let's see now. You're living, so that'll do (one out of two ain't bad). Fancy helping me research it? Tell you what: Put a green suit on.

3500 words in and getting the heart of the conflict established, as well as the foundation of my two main protagonist's relationship.

Mine's ready.

Last year, I posted my first, and so far only, story as part of this contest, and I got such enthusiastic feedback, I wrote a follow-up story months ago.

Waiting for the contest to start. Come on! Open! Open! Open!
