OK, what is the story on The American Community Survey? I always thought we did the census every 10 years but now we just got a census on steroids called the American Community Survey. This thing wants to know everything about you including what type of condoms you use and it is pretty scary.

It looks like not only is big brother watching he wants to know every detail of your life and family history. Anyone have any experience with this thing?

I've never gotten one, but basically it used to be that some percent (it was either 1 out of every 4 or 1 out of every 10, I forget) of households got what was called a "Long Form" census in the every-ten-years thing. Everybody else got the Short Form, which was pretty much what you got in the 2010 Census. "Recently" (as censi go), I want to say for the 2000 Census, the Census Bureau got rid of the Long Form because most people hated it. However, they created the American Community Survey to replace it, which has basically all the same questions as the Long Form did. The American Community Survey happens more often than the Every Ten Years thing, but they only send out a limited number of them - I want to say it's something like every three months they send 250,000 of them out? The census.gov website will have the details, whatever they are.

Like I said, I've never gotten the ACS. I'd like to, though. I enjoy telling people what I think.

AdjectiveNounVerb you wouldn't want one of these pieces of fascist bureaucratic crap. The stuff they want to know about you is unbelievable. I guess I was one of those naive people that thought we lived in a free country. Stupid me.

Stumbled upon this one:

They don't want to know it about you, just about Americans generally and statistically. I've never heard of any other branch of government, like the FBI, mining census forms for personal information on a suspect.

And I, personally, would like to thank you, King0, for your relentless efforts of keeping your ear to the ground for the common good of the rest of us...

...although every logical human being that's ever lived naturally understands that no matter how much they think they know, they actually know nothing compared to the amount available to be known, I believe I speak for all the world's citizens when I say it's so much easier to sleep peacefully at night knowing your ears are ever on guard.

It's so reassuring in this unfair world to know when someone states, I've never heard of whatever, so it doesn't exist...

...that you can take it to the (Federal Reserve dictated) bank.

Come now, eyer, you know that when I say "I've never heard" of some very unlikely event happening, the burden is on you to post a cite of some such thing happening. Can't do it, can you?

It's lonely living in the camp that believes that no matter how much I fantasize I know, compared to what there is to know, I actually know relatively nothing...
