The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

At my great grandmother's 99th birthday party she said that her husband and half of her children were waiting for her and she was not going to stick around for her 100th birthday. Most of the rest of the year passed without a noticeable decline in her health, and then less than a month from her 100th birthday she died peacefully in her sleep.

My older brother still has the picture that was taken just the day before where she was beaming while holding his daughter, with my grandpa and mom standing behind her while my older brother sat on the couch with her and my newborn niece.

Thanks, I did last night, just in time to reclaim our cats. Unfortunately, my father just passed away. At least we were all there with him for the weekend. I suspect he had been hanging on for that.

So sorry, IW. Our condolences.

Ho. Lee. Cow! "Little" pop-up thunderstorm just fell down on us. The wall of water we saw looking out the patio door had us running for the lifeboats. Too soon for the local NWS station to report anything, but the dish of water we keep for the birds had at least 2" more than it did when we returned from lunch just an hour ago.

So much for mowing the lawns tonight. Backyard is a mud pit... again.

😱

To my knowledge, yes. I'm not versed in the FDA regs on what you can call coffee on a label, but the battery acid don't lie.
Chicory is a totally different plant and 'chicory coffee' is made from the roasted root - nary a coffee bean in sight! Maxwell House may be shit coffee, but I doubt their claim to be derived from 100% Colombian coffee beans is untrue. Or at least from 100% coffee beans.

There is huge amounts of coffee fraud across the world (coffee is one of the top 3 fraudulent food products, kudos to anyone who guesses the other two!), but that's mostly passing off cheap Robusta beans as the more desirable Arabica beans.

There's my "Crime and Punishment" story idea right there. This is a criminal enterprise I am passionate about bringing to justice!
A great thriller, sure. A Lit story?

He's convinced his local coffee supplier is hiding something. She has access to an NMR spectrometer. Together, they fight crime!

Now it's Lit-worthy

And hybrids of Robusta and Arabica. They were crossed because of Robusta's disease resistance, and I'm not sure how much "pure" Arabica is still grown.

Chicory is a common weed with a distinctive blue flower and a lot of uses (Belgian endive is chicory). I spent some beautiful late summer days near Taos in flowering fields of chicory.

My attempt to change the banner image on my profile page has (so far) failed. Has anyone else made that change?

I think olive oil is one of them, but what's the third?

Orange juice - or rather, the difference between 'freshly squeezed OJ' and UHT or increasingly unjuicy levels of 'pulp wash', often with extra 'aroma' added to make you think it's the real thing.

Similar with olive oil, passing off later pressings of oil as virgin when they're actually increasingly slutty...

Another morning, another round of rain. At least I'm saving money watering since I haven't had to ...

There's fresh coffee (Arabica, I swear) and the teapot is hot. There are donuts and muffins on the counter. I'm making peach cobbler today so there'll be some tomorrow.

I threw a piece of coal down into the basement for the dragon. I think he's missing @HandleyPage. I'll be over in the corner working on my story.

I'm sure you saw this already, but here are the guidelines:

https://www.literotica.com/faq/membership/change-your-profile-header-image

A few threads suggest that the right size is 1198x204. I don't want to tag them, but onehitwanda seems to have gotten it to work.
And that, of course, is not one of the sizes listed in the guidance.

I used 1080x164 and window popped up that appeared to be an error statement. It immediately disappeared. It listed an image size, which may have been 1198x204, but it was gone before I could read it.

I'll wait for a week. The guidance says "24 hours," which from past experience I took to mean "there will be a delay." If nothing happens in a week then I'll try again.

Kinda no surprise about OJ. The catchphrase for premium bottled brands seems to be "Not from Concentrate", which has to be a euphemism for "You have no clue how we make this."

I don't worry about OJ - can't drink it, nor any other fruit juice and especially not soft drinks sweetened with HFCS (nearly all store brands). Open invitation for gout attacks, one of the prices one pays for getting old. Thank goodness for Mexican Coke, which has really caught on around here. Bottlers in Mexico still use cane sugar, which is mostly sucrose instead of fructose.
