The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I've been having a hard time reading lately. Like I'll pick up something that looks really interesting or titillating, and then five words in my eyes will gloss over and I'll start going over what I'm going to write next.

So like only being able to see things up close is near sighted, so would that be inner sighted?

like it!

Let me check where it is in my process:

1. write story
2. revise story
3. obsess over minuscule detail until I have a breakdown in the coffee shop thread
4. cry in someone's DMs
5. repeat 3 & 4 as needed (<- YOU ARE HERE)
6. submit for publication
7. click refresh until index finger muscles are strong enough to punch through dragon scales
I don't see anything about vanilla cream cupcakes in there ...

Someone favorited one of my stories in four ways, so it shows up as four consecutive entries on my home page.

The someone's name starts with "RPaul" and ends in a series of digits. It's been there for a while, but I still haven't gotten over my initial reaction. "Hey! RuPaul is reading my stuff!"

If you named your story "Sashay! Shantay!" then it's probably RuPaul.

I'm gonna queue up "Supermodel" for when @sirhugs tries to sneak in early.

Total aside, but if Ms. Thing was a real magazine I'd subscribe.

Another beautiful day and a great day to play some bagpipes while sashaying around ...

I've started a new pot of coffee since @sirhugs finished the last one. The teapot is hot and ready for those who want some tea. Green tea is great for those who are having issues with insulin tolerance. There are donuts and muffins on the counter for those who don't have insulin issues (or don't worry about it if they do).

I'll be over in the corner trying to write more on my story without getting the frosting from the vanilla cupcakes all over the keyboard ...

That sounds so good, but sweets are off my menu. (I miss my frosted mini-wheats) BUT I had a perfect savory breakfast: ham sliced paper thin toasted on the grill until it just starts to singe then piled on a lightly toasted sourdough English muffin. That's topped with an "over gentle" jumbo egg that was fried in an egg ring so it ends up the same diameter as the muffin and is nice and thick when the ring is removed. It's cooked until the yolk is just past runny and before it becomes cooked through. The yolk is the consistency of cold maple syrup and at its peak of flavor. Top that with a slice of provolone or American cheese, a hint of mayo on the bun, far too much fresh ground black pepper - delicious! I have to limit myself to one a day or I'd be out of eggs and muffins by Saturday.

My breakfast was a little sweet: Greek yogurt and a quarter of a small cantaloupe. There's no fat in that breakfast.

I have two melons still uncut, but I'm afraid the last one spent too much time sitting on the countertop, and it's past its prime. There are still four small melons on the vine and the longer the warm weather lasts, the better are the chances that they'll ripen.

Picked a green pepper today. I'll probably pick the last green jalapenos this weekend and let the rest go red so I can dry them. I'll keep picking the New Mexico chiles every other week.

The fall cucumbers are set and growing. I'll probably get the first one off the vines in a week or so. The broccolini looks great, but there's no sign of it producing anything but leaves.

I may have a breakthrough on the "story" part of my WIP. The solution has been in front of me all along. I just need a little revision to the synopsis to make it work.

No backyard produce to report here other than our blackberries blooming and attempting to set fruit. Second crops are always bitter. I suspect it's because we don't expect them and therefore don't water during the usually dry Septembers.

Personal milestone -- my knee was doing well enough to drive myself the fifteen minutes to campus and back again. For the first time in almost six months. My knee hurts like hell right now, but I still feel accomplished. I'm hoping I can do this drive every Friday afternoon, so my SO doesn't have to drive my in.

I think using the cane has taken enough strain off my knee that I can use that to accomplish something else. My PT wants me to do anything that only hurts for a few hours or less. Occasional short drives are now on the menu again.
