The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Chocolate contains theobromine, which has an effect similar to caffeine. We don't need more excuses to eat chocolate, do we?

Chocolate consumption doesn't seem to be a problem that way for me. I've been eating a little more these days, having read in several places that >70% cocoa chocolate is good for managing blood glucose. Bring it on!

Gate control theory of pain

Thing they don't mention, probably because they don't want people hurting themselves, is that pain can also block other pain.
Which explains the high numbers of disabled people/those with chronic health conditions who are into kinky sex.

Reminds me, I have a draft of "The NHS Gave Me a Medical Fetish" which needs more.anonymising and completion...

Ghirardelli? 72%? 😁
My preference is 80% šŸ˜…

There does seem to be a correlation at least, doesn't there?šŸ¤”

Argh - looks like my avatar is still.missing on the forum, but it's there on the story side. How do I get it back here? Looking up threads wasn't helpful.

My current bag is actually only 60%. That comes in a 20 oz bag, which is larger than the store carries for the darker chocolates.

Yeah, that's what I used to do. Same situation, the 20 oz. bags are significantly less expensive per oz. than the 10 oz. bags. But only the 60% is available in the larger size. Looked it up on ghirardelli.com, to confirm.

Then I was influenced by reading about the research on this which said 70% is considered the magic number where the benefits of the cocoa outweigh the sugar penalty. So now I just close my eyes when the scanner beeps as the purple bags pass over it. I'm liking the "stronger," slightly less sweet version.

That's the best I could do to retrieve it for you. The image on the author page is in .webp format (...boo...hiss...), which the forum software rejects. You should be able to copy and paste this .png image into your forum settings.

Thing is. it's already there and only gives me an option to download, copy, etc, and not to upload a new file?

Click on the avatar on the author page, and it should then display an up-arrow in a blue circle. Click on that and you should get a dialog box for uploading.

Try this - mouse over the avatar on your forum CP (it should then say "Edit"), then click on "Edit". It should open a new tab with your author CP LitE Profile. Mouse over the avatar and it should respond like this:

Click on the up-arrow and it should immediately take you to a file browser to upload the image.

Flew to Vegas Tuesday night to see one of my favorite bands, Bright Eyes. We were supposed to go early Monday afternoon but late Wednesday night my daughter was admitted to the ICU. She hadn't been feeling well for at least the past 6 weeks and despite me, her mother, telling her to go to the doctor or er, she didn't, until I told her that Wednesday night that she has to go because she looked dead.
She has been diagnosed diabetic. She literally would be dead now if she hadn't gone that night. I didn't even go with her because I worked the next day, well I was supposed to, but she knew I had to be up at 4:30 so she let me sleep while she went to the er alone. When I woke up at 4:30 Thursday morning I had a bunch of messages saying I just want my mom 😢
She was there from late Wednesday night until 3pm Tuesday. We rushed home, then to Walgreens to pick up meds, then to the airport.

We rescheduled the flight, called the hotel and told them we'd be there a day late, and we made it to our concert!
And we're so happy we did because of course we were rail, or barricade(whatever you call it) and during one song Conor, the singer, stood on the rail right between my daughter and I so that was pretty cool!

But now we're home and trying to adjust to this new life of low carb and insulin. Hey at least Mandalay Bay brought a mini fridge to our room to use for free since she has insulin now.
And also, can I just say what a pit Lambert Field is! It's also so confusing, well the parking garage is. And the whole airport is just so dated and trashy.

Adding,
This is the third time we've seen Bright Eyes this year. We saw them in St Louis, then Chicago, and now Vegas. We always go to the same spot, between the singer, Conor, and the keyboard player/backup singer/horn player, Miwi, because Conor always comes to that spot to sing and 'dance'. I don't take a lot of pictures at shows, I like to live in the moment, but I took a handful. This is Conor Oberst.

@ItsJustMeApathy - not to scare you but I had a very good friend and a family member diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after sudden onset of diabetes. Pancreatic cancer has no symptoms until the pancreas can no longer produce insulin. Please take her and get a CAT scan with contrast to look for cancer hot spots. Unfortunately, there's no easy blood test for pancreatic cancer.

It's going to be a partly cloudy day today with the temperature finally getting up to near normal after a cool (51 degrees) start to the day.

I've got the coffee brewing and the tea kettle hot. Don't forget we have a cappuccino machine if you want something different. There are donuts and some leftover apple crisp on the counter. There are soft drinks in the 'fridge for those who don't drink coffee or tea.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. It would be nice if my brain would just concentrate on the story at hand but I'm getting inundated with plot bunnies for other stories and they are just getting in the way (although I might be able to work one or more of them into my current story).

Are you sure those aren't plot bison?
