The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Why a page number, HP?

The evening coffee is ready.

High today 90. High tomorrow, 73. A nice change.

Sign of the season -- it was time to put the heaters back in the aquarium.

The midnight coffee is ready.

63 for a low tonight. Snuggling time.

Just been informed I'm playing on Bec's work netball team. Never played before...

This could be interesting.

Rusty, you might want to find out how high the net is and what kind of balls they will be playing with. Sounds dangerous to me.

Expecting rain here in a couple of hours. Luckily, I'm going back to bed.

Tex, I have a large number of multi-page documents;
I prefer to have a page number.
Yowser: Thank you.

We got a bright, cool morning.
I think I need coffee

get the dragon heating up the water, I'll prepare the perk, HP.

Drawing to the end of "We're a Wonderful Wife" and now I have to answer the question "What do I do when I finish a story that I've been working on for nearly 2 years?"

Thanks for the morning brew @sirhugs the dragon fired drink should be cooled down enough to drink by now.

Dragon fired coffee? There goes another coffee pot.

D, take a night off but don't look down or the plot bunnies will swarm your legs.

I see the left coast is well represented this morning.

It is raining here. We need it.

There's been no rain here in "Florgia" since early September, the only thing that came out of the sky during rainy season is autumn leaves. Even Mr. Ian failed to bring us rain. I'm terrified that @sirhugs may come visit. One ill-timed dragonfart and all of Nassau county will go up in smoke.

I think you’re the first person awake on the west coast 🤩
Research and morning meetings do not, sadly, have a time constraint...and I needed to be in early. (I think being the newest at work I get the highly coveted "make sure the office and meeting room is set up" job.)

Speaking of plots ... my latest story I just "finished" is crap!!! I just reread it yesterday and argggg. I am now debating if I should take the time to do a massive overhaul...or shelve it / trash it. The writing is just awful.

Drop a copy in my E-mail and I'll have a look at it. I have a new red pencil and nothing to do with it.

Thank you....but I admit, I am horrified by how badly I wrote it...and am reluctant to even show it.

In truth, it's kind of like if there was a story with lots of typos...you don't even want to point those out because it would do no good when your next comment would be to rewrite the paragraph!

(Okay, my story has only a few typos, but the writing is stilted, the progression feels boring, and it seems the scenes need to be organized better.)

I think the plotline is okay....it's my execution that is bad.

I may do a massive rewrite before I have anyone try to critique it.

But thank you :)

I'm with DR. I re-read my stories-in-progress what seems like dozens of times. If something doesn't flow or seems stilted or even inept, the electrons frequently suffer an untimely but painless death. If something sort of OK suddenly doesn't work, it gets set aside in the "maybe later?" file for rework.

The only true way to learn to write is to write and then write some more.

The lunch time coffee is ready. Stimulation for those writing brain cells.

I need to get on one of my winter stories and finish it.

One of Jo's employees was hurt this morning. Years of no workman's comp claims down the drain. My mum's going to the doctor with some lung issue today, and of course, pop is antsy about her health already. She has COPD, asthma, and is overweight to boot, so I, too, am worried about her. French roast coffee, and a bagel with creme cheese for brunch after rushing to the hospital to be with Jo while she waited for the news about her worker. A broken patella, so scratch one mechanic for an extended period of time. On the bright side, we have a freeze warning for the next two nights. Oh, that's not that bright for my pops. His ankle will be hurting.

Oh no. I hope your mom will be okay...as well as Jo's employee.

He's in a cast from just above his knee to his ankle and is scheduled for knee surgery tomorrow. I have no idea how long he will be out, but as busy as the shop is, I'm sure she'll have to either give overtime or hire a temporary mechanic.

I wrote a story for the Winter Holiday contest last year and missed the deadline, but I liked the story and the characters so much that I started writing the backstory to it and started posting it in May. I fell in love with the back story so much that I recently re-read the original story and said, "OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THAT CRAP?". My muse and I ritually sacrificed about 18 plot bunnies and I re-wrote the original story into something that's not so disgusting. It's still going to fall under "Erotic Horror" but it's something I can live happily with.

If you're not happy with a story, the readers will know. My "Private Photographer" is like that, I wrote it as a self-challenge and was never really happy with it and the readers can tell. Its rating has never gotten higher than 4.37 and it's my only story that sits without a single comment.

Challenge yourself to re-do it until you're happy with it.

Your mom's in my prayers. I've got lung issues that cause many pulmonologists to rub their hands together and say "Oh goody, a challenge!" I'm prayin' your mom's not a challenge.

My condition has our own mascot

I'll add a prayer for the two of you. And your mascot just reminded me that I need to reorder ink for my printer ... not even the black wants to bring now.
