The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 04: Come On In

The coffee tastes particularly good this morning. I'll have another while I try to advance a story a little.

Okay, fresh coffee is ready and there are some donuts on the end of the counter.

The best nights sleep I've had in a while. There is no bed better than the one you are familiar with. The same applies to blondes, brunettes, and redheads. ;)

I'm not sure if my travels were work related but... They were for my publisher so... Can anyone here see me talking to a bunch of future writers? I think I scared some of them and scarred a few others. I was surprised that there were only slightly more women than men in attendance. I was also surprised at how young they were. They were surprised at how old I was. Did that make us even?

It is hot for England, locally, but moderated by a sea breeze.

For a weekday Tuesday, the sea front has been parked solidly all day. I have been sitting out in my front garden, in the shade from my house, watching the visitors.

I have just come in to make a cup of coffee before going out again.

I'll send over my shepherds staff so you can herd the plot bunnies easier. People watching with bikinis throw in always produces a ton of plot bunnies. For me anyway.

Some of them don't bother with bikini tops...

Ah, that should double the plot bunny quota.

My last seaside stay was at a nude beach in the warm tropics. Herds of plot bunnies roamed at will. A cargo ship would not have been big enough to bring them home. I had to be so selective.

Sadly, I have yet to see a mobile plot bunny without her top.

But it is now time for a mug of good Tea.

HP, pick a warm weekend and go visit Ogg. Take a large supply of bibs for drool and bring a herd of Plot bunnies back to keep you warm over the winter. ;)

Fresh coffee for the evening crowd.

According to HM, I'm having boiled shrimp for supper. :)

Dessert is still under discussion.

Poor muffin. You are hard done by, Tex.

How's she doing?

:D It is so hard being me. :D

HM is doing fine. We had a little water works when we went to get her mom's ashes and more when we inventoried the house and loaded up the few things she really wanted. This coming weekend the grand kids will be there to get what they want so I'm expecting a few more tears. And there will probably be a few more when the house is sold.

So far I've dealt with the shock, the anger, and part of the grief. There is still work to do on the last part but we will get through it.

It's 5 am and too hot to sleep, our AC is soldiering-on manfully but not coping, and the repair-man can't be here until Friday; apparently, business is booming. Right now it's a sunny 28, and we're promised a scorching 37 - 40 by midday. Of course, we also have to deal with an influx of brits who walk around with their shirts off, drinking and generally being loutish; yesterday Will treated 8 for heatstroke and horrible sunburn and gave the standard long lecture on skin cancer ('take off shirt, be macho and don't put on any SPF90 cream, drink excessively, and regularly fall asleep on the beach at midday. Well done, welcome to melanoma and basal cell carcinoma, get your affairs in order')

Really, all we can do is give these idiots a tube of Lanacaine, show them pictures of what an advanced basal cell carcinoma looks like and a lecture, but I guarantee they'll be back at least one more time, because most of what we tell them percolates through a haze of alcohol, so they end up getting the Chinese Whispers version...

Wonderful, Lori.
Meanwhile, we have Aggie & Doris chatting amiably away, completely oblivious to the world and people around them; it's easier to go round from th other side to get to the market stall I want.
But for now, Coffee

Drinking coffee with hazel nut flavor in it, listening to the early morning birds trying to convince the sun to rise.

It's a beautiful morning. I don't feel like napping yet, so maybe I'll get some work done.

Somehow I missed morning altogether. HM is humming as she gets a cup of coffee so that might not be a bad thing. :)

Pancakes for lunch sounds good. Maybe a side of bacon.

So officially, we are over the hump on Hump Day. Or is that after the hump on Hump Day.

I may need a nap later, if HG comes by.

'Strewth, Bruce, it's bloody warm. So, last night asd I was preparing to retire, I noticed the odd strange flash in the bathroom window ( it's not plain glass, and my bathroom faces the next door's wall ).

Not a sound was heard.
But as I got to my bed, God decided to illuminate the Earth with his new Flash gun.
By 'eck it were bright - and a long duration.
Still no sound.
Eh up, I thought, the Electric's going well tonight.
Then we all heard the bang. That's what woke up the whole village, I reckon.

So far, tonight's qiet.
But I reckon He's charging 'is battery for another go.

Time for a brew. . . . .

No lighting here, but it is unpleasantly hot. Trying to lower the temperature in my bedroom a bit before I go to sleep, else it'll probably be a sleepless night I fear. And tomorrow is going to be even warmer. Yay...

Our "Big Heat" struck last weekend, when it was so 'ot and 'umid that everyone walked around feeling like big, sweaty scrotums (scrota?). Now it's gorgeous, and going to stay gorgeous through the weekend.

Iced capuccino, anyone?

Ya mean ya don't feel like a bit, sweaty, scrotum every day?

Or is that just me. Yeah, I hate humidity. I don't like excessive heat, but it's heat with humidity that makes me want to find a shady place and not move until the weather changes.

We're looking at low 90's and moderate humidity this weekend. I can work with that.

Iced capuccino sounds grand. Though a tall cup of strong cold-brewed Sumutra coffee, black, over ice sounds even better.

I THINK it's Wednesday. At least, for another hour and a half. I feel like someone hit fast forward.

Sent signed docs to publishing house last night and got back a list of what to expect next, including a November publication date. Zoom!

November publication? How much time elapses from your draft to publication?

Mainstream publishers move glacially slow for the most part plus they have it set in a time frame they think will draw readers. After Thanksgiving and before Christmas.
