I think I'll have a word with some local firms.
Amazon "do not ship this product to UK"
But it was very kind of you to try. :rose:

What I need is loads of light, [to do some work on my PC].
What have I got [so far]?
Real gloom. . . . :(

Time for more coffee.

Good morning. :kiss::rose:

Coffee, coffee, and more coffee for me please.

We had a cloudy morning then a brief little shower and it's been sunny since. It might rain more later.

I posted a three-chapter chunk of Unlikely Angels yesterday, and got some rewriting/editing done this morning on the fourth chapter, which I'll post in a few days as a standalone chapter.

For a brilliant shot of the moon you would need less clouds, a higher altitude, and a tripod. Good luck on the first two in England. ;)
.
Fresh coffee and kettle for the evening crew coming up.

Fewer clouds - done!
tripod - done.
Altitude - Ah.
I can manage 600ft ASL, if I'm prepared to drive a few miles to a local park (usually full of 'doggers,' romantics, miscreants (various), animals (sundry), and cold air).
Actually, it's quite pleasant up there at times. But not tonight; it's raining.

A nice mug of good strong tea would be very welcome.
Can get one for anyone else ?

Sure, love one to replenish my Tetley's teabag one that I'm just about finished.

Squash soup and bacon are cooking, heads down in Aliens... I mean, my Halloween story, drinking tea instead of coffee today. I think I overdid the coffee last week. Tomorrow is dim-sum morning. Yum!!!!

Have you tried "Yorkshire tea" ?
Good strong stuff, that.

This stuff? Never heard of it before but now that you've brought it up.... why not :D

You can of course get it from Amazon. Amazon sells everything. And, well, okay, I just ordered some of of Amazon. Let you know what I think next week.

Taylor's of Harrogate make a selection of 'fine teas,' which are excellent. Yorkshire tea is what they make from the sweepings from the floor after they have packed the good stuff. It can be a bit dusty with bits floating on top - but its very drinkable.;)

I visit friends in North Yorkshire most northern summers and a visit to 'Betty's' the 100 year old tea rooms in Harrogate is more or less compulsory. Betty's is where the highly successful range of teas originated.

If you google Betty's or Taylors of Harrogate, you will get the full picture. Betty's Tea (and cakes) rooms has captured a wonderful atmosphere of the slightly faded, genteel middle classes, circa 1890 - 1930. Og and HP would know what I mean

Dilmah an everyday brand from Sri Lanka is good stuff, better than any Aussie or Brit standard brews IMHO. :)

I saw a programme on TV the other day that stated that "espresso" had the least caffeine. I wouldn't know; I don't speak Italian.
It means (steam-)'pressed' rather than drip or perk or boil.

A dripped cup (8 oz) might require one tablespoon of grounds. The same grounds in my Krups machine produces a cup of concentrated liquid, normally served in four 2-oz demitasse cups. Each indeed contains less caffeine than a dripped cup.

But I'm an animal. I drink the whole output. With rum, by gum.

But not now. 'Tis now evening of a trying day. Fasting blood test at noon, meaning nothing by mouth since midnight. Drive an hour to the Health Fair at Mark Twain Med Center in San Andreas (not their fault). Get the cheap blood panels and free flu shots. A fabulous not-expensive lunch feast at Mokelumne Hill's historic Hotel Leger. Feel the lethargic effects of the flu shot. Stagger home, wracked by ennui. Strange silhouettes move through the woods. What creatures be those?

Good thing this is only an annual event. Can't stand to be healthy more often.

Back to now. The Android phone alarm awakens me for evening meds. I crawl into life. My partner is watching an old western, WARLOCK. I swear I'll finish reading that profile of famed Hopi-Tewa potter Nampeyo. (Wish we had one of her pieces.) Something walks around outside. Hasn't the bear left yet? Shh...

But coffee? Hmmm, I wonder if any of that coconut decaf is left?

The party was a success. We had a great turnout. And everyone pitched in to clean up the store afterward. :)

Tea in the UK is blended for the water in which it is to be made
(No, all water is NOT the same). So the taste of a particular tea in say, Somerset will not be the same blend as that in Essex. And Yorkshire water is beautifully soft.
I'd love to know quite how they get round the differences in the 'States (perhaps they don't ?).

[1] I doubt that, these days. The invention of the Tea Bag has eliminated much of it, and thus the feeling of "superiority" therewith.

[2] A few decades ago, I used to live in Leeds (which is not far from Harrogate). My wife & I went to Betty's a time or two and she loved it. It reminded me of the Lyons Corner House in a town in Somerset that my Mum took me to as a kid; starched white tablecloths, elegant silver cutlery and fine china cups. It's light-years away from McD's, and sadly missed.

Fun fun fun and help cleaning up too! Sunday morning shift, dead quiet bar the police cars and crime scene lights on the way in to work. Now for some coffee to boost me up.

It hasn't changed a scrap HP - except for the waitresses, they're a lot younger and often from Eastern Europe.

I didn't know you were a Somerset boy HP. I was brought up a few miles north of the Avon in South Gloucestershire.

Happy Sinday.

It sounds like a lot of tea drinking going on so I'll make up a fresh kettle. Bottled water so take your chances with different flavors. ;)

Fresh coffee for those in need like me.

Spent most of the day on the lake yesterday. New housemate had a ball catching catfish. Made a stop at Pine Island for a swim. We're both slightly red this morning. Sounds like the sun deck will get a work out. Maybe some nude sunning also. :D

A little yard work early and a nap later.

I cut basil and parsley this morning (I love the way they make the kitchen smell) and was surprised to find a flowering gladiola spike. I thought they were done in early September so I haven't been paying attention. They're dwarf glads, but the one I cut this morning was almost as large as a regular glad, and there's another one that will be ready in a few days.

Our little rain storm finally passed. Officially, it left us with about 2 inches of rain in three days. That's more than 20% of our normal annual precipitation.

I have my second cup of coffee in hand, and breakfast in my belly. I'm good to go.

Oh, I'm a bit of a hybrid.
My Dad worked at a Ministry job and used to get posted. The family is actually from Leicester (followed by Bristol, Weston, Bournemouth and all points north) and I spent a few years in the RAF before getting a job with a firm whose HQ was in Leeds.

What, it's mid-afternoon here already? And Sunday? Must be big games on telly today -- neighbors aren't much disturbing the air with the usual chain-sawing, trash-burning, stump-pulling, wolverine-branding, and dog-baiting. Might get noisy in a couple hours, though.

Tea. I've mentioned my preferences. Strong tea. Té maté. Mormon tea. Gen-mai cha. Tea black enough to remove shellac. Supercharged tea, brewed in the espresso machine. Carnivore tea.

But I've yet to find a tea benefiting from a slug of Godiva chocolate liqueur. Not even among the weirder concoctions from Portland OR's famed Steven Smith, Teamaker. So now it's time for another cuppa supplemented with Godiva and Black Velvet.

I like Black Velvet in my coffee, not so much the Godiva.

Working on editing my Halloween entry.

Try some Yunnan tea, a black large leaf Chinese poison. Make the first pot normally (has to be loose leaf - no teabags) drink the first cup normally then leave the remainder in the enamel teapot overnight. In the morning heat the pot gently over the gas until boiling. Then drink it if you dare. If you can't take it, send it to Tx to strip paint off his boats,

Evening all.

So far I haven't had to strip any paint off my boats. The last two have colored epoxy on the exterior, which has cut down on the number of coats greatly. Two and a half parts dark green and one part titanium white makes a nice mint green.

We got a ton of yard work done in a short period of time this morning. Spent the afternoon relaxing. She took a short nap and i got some writing done. All in all, a good day.

That sounds deadly enough. We'll be in San Francisco in a few days and will walk down streets (*) with many Chinese foodstuffs vendors. I'll grab some Yunnan tea along with the dried mushrooms and herbs we find so necessary.

(*) Grant Ave is overly touristy. Adjacent Stockton Street is more authentic. Clement Street below Park-Presidio is more modern. And don't skip Ichiban-Kan in the Japan Center for genmai-cha tea and miso soups.

Oh yeah, coffee. Third cup this morning. Maybe it'll kick in. Eventually.

Well, my mate's CB aerial took another leap forward today, with the construction of the Interface box.
But for now, coffee, please
