Traveling by automobile, basically the full length of two states, completing crew change (sometimes dockside, sometimes via crewboat or helicopter) then pulling a 12 hour shift.

Pops used to tell me "That’s what makes young men old and old men scarce."
...he knew, as he'd pulled 44 continuous hours placing (pouring) concrete on a dam, where "cold joints" are unacceptable.
