I'm glad she did well. And I hope they find the source of her pain. Western medicine does not typically do a good job with female issues, especially pain. If she's not getting satisfaction with her PCP, consider alternative therapies.

So the MRI results were 5 bulging disks, plus something in that T11 (the one she broke and was glued) so now waiting on Doc to call to proceed. SWMBO is big into Holistic medicine…I call her SWMBO Medicine Woman due to her Indian ancestors. I’m sure she’ll figure something.

I have one of those inversion tables that I’m sure would help, but every time I’ve mentioned her giving it a try she acts like it’s something from the Spanish Inquisition and begs off.

I got good news from doc yesterday so hopefully our maximum contributions to the medical professionals retirement fund will be curtailed just a bit! Sadly Momma’s older brother is having an emergency procedure today for blood clots in his lungs…back out to the hospital this a.m. Keep yer fingers crossed.

I saw the moon rising over my friend's house Tuesday night. It was gorgeous! I went over there and took pictures from her patio.

Wow! I really want to get good at astrophotography. I’ve got a 6” Dob telescope I got for the kids when they were young. I’ve seen some contraptions you can hook up to get shots through that. Maybe this weekend I’ll just JerryRig my tripod w the camera and see if it works?

Momma or Dad would have some malady. SWMBO would tell them exactly what to do, homeopathic or otherwise. They’d blow her off, UNTIL, they heard the SAME thing on the nightly news of choice. THEN and only then would it be gospel.

I think Dana Carvey had a bit in one of his comedy skits…about your parents turning into toddlers as they age…

Thanks, DKA! I'll take a look at it. Win 11 doesn't seem too bad for me. A major irritant is being pushed to buy Office 365 all the time. I have a 2007 Office with all the applications that works just fine for my purposes. I'm not about to pay for it every year!

I used my old laptop for my music project as it still has a built in CD/DVD ROM. Something I really miss in my new one. I did buy an external drive for my new laptop and was able to play and rip CDs.

A project in my list is to convert my cassettes to mp3. That's on the back burner for now. I'd also love to learn how to rip DVDs.

I used to have a a timetable that would make MP3s. It was awesome and I have a great library now of over 60k songs.

We do the same. Subtitles always on. Mrs wonderer is hearing impaired. She has some hearing loss.

I helped a neighbor moving out after the bought a new home. He works for Microsoft and gave me a copy of Win11 and Office for a new box I was building. He would not say how I could find it retail but there supposedly is a non perpetual version of Office. My old version I use is from about 2009. I wish I could find the 2007 version as it came with a simple photo editor that worked much better than the built in photos now. I find many “apps” clunky in Win11. As well many of the apps reach outside of the desktop. Having to manually set the firewall to block that pisses users off when apps don’t work. Calculator was the main frustration.
I can’t remember if you can still rip a DVD or not. I know my old tools stopped working. Nero hacks and other rippers could no longer reassemble the encryption. You could rip but it wouldn’t play or lost quality. I stopped when Blu-ray released. I did enjoy having a library of movies and concerts in win 10 media center to distribute to my tv’s. Now days I don’t think I have the time to invest on the rip process anyway. Relegated to playing the ones I still have on an old playstation3.
I don’t have cassettes, but I do have some vinyl I can’t find on CD. Puff the Magic Dragon and the stuff Mom and Dad liked while still in their 30’s. I have all my gramma’s 78’s but not the Victola. My cd’s are burnt into iTunes. I use old school iMatch to host them in the cloud for 25$ a year. Match replaces your copy with a superior grade if it exists. The bulk of what I listen to is about 65gig which easily fits on my old phone now. Having all that in the car like an old iPod is pretty cool. When I replace the car I don’t think I will have that connectivity anymore. In home the appleTV provides access to the full library where I can crank it up and share my old memories with my neighbors.
I’m having to take some time for that Debloat script. I made many of those changes already and others may have made differently. It would have saved some time. I will have to look for it but I have a scrip that creates a folder full of 250+ win10 features and settings that are all familiar. When you open the link it opens to the setting in win11 or opens the win10 dialog to make the changes in win11. I find for the most part I didn’t need it. It was a crutch that prevented learning all the added clicks to do it the win11 way. Or I just enjoy being perpetually pissed at MS. I wish when I applied the if you can’t beat them join them rule I had more money. Their stock continues to be steady.

Years ago when I retired, I began a project to convert all my VHS tapes to digital. There are converters that do a good job.

I am glad I did. One was my father narrating our trip to California when I was 9 years old. I need to watch that video again.

That is awesome! I’m sure it’s an amazing memory.

My kids had a million VHS tapes… it would’ve been nice to convert many of them, if they ever have kids.

I think it’s nice to pass down generational kid books, and movies and memories.

Ya can’t have enough! I have about 3 of everything.

Except screwdrivers. I have about 11teen of them. Maybe more.

One on every floor and a select set in the car. Then there is a whole assortment of tools purchased when I couldn’t find where I left the one I had or someone helpful organized it for me. I got old young.

Not fully recovered but no fever. He is still in nap mode. Since he is nonverbal, my daughter has done so well in finding ways to read his health and emotions.

I love that!

I’m sorry to read about her hearing loss. I have lost some range such as at the higher pitch. It’s hard to understand my granddaughter.

My left ear hears more better than the right. Most of the time. I think my loss is complicated by what ever change is in the air. Allergies don’t mess with my nose or eyes so much anymore, but my ears do. Even today waking up on the first 40 degree morning the tinnitus is so loud I need to turn up the rest of the world.

When she was selling her house and looking for condos. A friend of mine who had a lot of time during his work day to spend on the computer suggested the condo she currently lives in. It was only about a mile from her old house. She kind of had her heart set on another one not too far away, and she was actually pretty rude when she rejected my suggestion. About four or five months later, when she either thought of it herself or some knucklehead told her, nothing would do but that she move in there. I reminded her of her rude rejection of my suggestion. Funny, she had no memory of it.

I never read too much of heavy metal, but I did like the old Judge Redd, and 2000 A.D. comics in the 80s. They were fun and some of them were very, very funny.

My favorite character: Abelard Snazz. The mad scientist “genius” with a double-decker brain. And four eyes. With his glasses, I guess he was in eight eyes.

His hair brain schemes always backfired on him and created more trouble!
