The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Wow! I really want to get good at astrophotography. I’ve got a 6” Dob telescope I got for the kids when they were young. I’ve seen some contraptions you can hook up to get shots through that. Maybe this weekend I’ll just JerryRig my tripod w the camera and see if it works?

PS…Those are great shots!
My neighbor does that w his phone right into a telescope.

He takes bad ass pictures of Uranus.

Seriously, tho. He does take pics w his phone of heavenly bodies planets and stars and stuff.

For years we had this problem…tell me if you can identify.

Momma or Dad would have some malady. SWMBO would tell them exactly what to do, homeopathic or otherwise. They’d blow her off, UNTIL, they heard the SAME thing on the nightly news of choice. THEN and only then would it be gospel.

I think Dana Carvey had a bit in one of his comedy skits…about your parents turning into toddlers as they age…
Sounds a bit like Mrs wonderer!

Or maybe just plain ol wonderer. 😂

I thibk it may be time to turn on the furnace. Damn it
I might run mine on if I could get up. Not because it is cold. But so I know it works when we do need it.
In the good ol days living in Jersey I enjoyed the luxury of steam or in another place hot water heat. Fall was awesome because the house was so warm you had to open the windows. Doesn’t sound like much but I had never experienced the sensation that created. One year it taught me to crack a window when I built a fire in the fireplace.
I wish I could find a hundred year old house again. Plaster walls with insulation that worked. Loud wood windows that rattled when you took them up or down. Water so hot you could take your skin off if you weren’t paying attention. Mmmm and something you never see here, an outdoor shower.

I helped a neighbor moving out after the bought a new home. He works for Microsoft and gave me a copy of Win11 and Office for a new box I was building. He would not say how I could find it retail but there supposedly is a non perpetual version of Office. My old version I use is from about 2009. I wish I could find the 2007 version as it came with a simple photo editor that worked much better than the built in photos now. I find many “apps” clunky in Win11. As well many of the apps reach outside of the desktop. Having to manually set the firewall to block that pisses users off when apps don’t work. Calculator was the main frustration.
I can’t remember if you can still rip a DVD or not. I know my old tools stopped working. Nero hacks and other rippers could no longer reassemble the encryption. You could rip but it wouldn’t play or lost quality. I stopped when Blu-ray released. I did enjoy having a library of movies and concerts in win 10 media center to distribute to my tv’s. Now days I don’t think I have the time to invest on the rip process anyway. Relegated to playing the ones I still have on an old playstation3.
I don’t have cassettes, but I do have some vinyl I can’t find on CD. Puff the Magic Dragon and the stuff Mom and Dad liked while still in their 30’s. I have all my gramma’s 78’s but not the Victola. My cd’s are burnt into iTunes. I use old school iMatch to host them in the cloud for 25$ a year. Match replaces your copy with a superior grade if it exists. The bulk of what I listen to is about 65gig which easily fits on my old phone now. Having all that in the car like an old iPod is pretty cool. When I replace the car I don’t think I will have that connectivity anymore. In home the appleTV provides access to the full library where I can crank it up and share my old memories with my neighbors.
I’m having to take some time for that Debloat script. I made many of those changes already and others may have made differently. It would have saved some time. I will have to look for it but I have a scrip that creates a folder full of 250+ win10 features and settings that are all familiar. When you open the link it opens to the setting in win11 or opens the win10 dialog to make the changes in win11. I find for the most part I didn’t need it. It was a crutch that prevented learning all the added clicks to do it the win11 way. Or I just enjoy being perpetually pissed at MS. I wish when I applied the if you can’t beat them join them rule I had more money. Their stock continues to be steady.
I’ve turned many of my albums into MP3’s.

But I have a collection of hundreds of albums as well as a few hundred 45s. Not everything has been converted but all the good stuff.

Here’s a bunch of stuff of different musical media: L to R
CD, Edison 78 (it’s about as thick as three or four modern day LPs), Addison music cylinder (think a song on a cylinder), a 45, music box inserts before any kind of shellac or vinyl, cassettes, 8 tracks and a flexi disc (remember those) by The Drowns.

Wow, 8 Tracks, love it, great sound for the time, but so impractical. I had a friend who built frames for old 4tracks and 8tracks, I think 50 or so fit, fun stuff.

If i started digitizing my albums, i would need a few years! I did convert to MP3 my CDs a few thousand of em! That took a while! 🤭

This guys is as tillable as a rain dance.

And he’s fuckin w your tools?? He’s a fuckin handyman. He should be bringing his own shit!

Ghrrrrrr.
He wouldn't remember to bring his head if it weren't attached
I text him detailed lists and he still doesn't remember to bring what he needs
I just need one solid day with his head screwed on right so he can finish the last few things. I don't think that's too much to ask. Yet it seems to be an elusive task. 😩
I was wonderering if it was that or the cups! 😅🤣😅
With the outfit, too?
(please say yes)

Slow start to the day here.
Finally some rain last night, but no frost this morning. Cloud cover tends to keep things warmer.
Getting ready to till the garden in for the season, anything worth picking is picked and everything else is done for, except the carrots. Those will get plucked before the tractor goes over them.

Hope you all have a great day today!

Say what you want, that movie was so funny! The cast absolutely outstanding!

Same. We got a smattering of rain but not enough.
Certainly not enough up North where the wildfire in part of the Superior National Forest tripled overnight. Continued warm weather, high-ish winds, and rugged terrain is not looking good for additional containment. It's only @ 25% contained and that I think was due to the aircraft able to drop some water and/or retardant on the area. It's very remote and difficult to access.
Might explain some of the poor air quality we've been having.

Wow! And I just want to hear that Blue Moon song my grandmother used to play and often be humming.

I'm wearing the sysadmin hat at work and have worked computer hardware/software maintenance positions. I've used 17 different version of windows and personally own 40+ PC's at home. I have the experience to say that I hate new versions of windows.

It's age. I used to be annoyed by new versions of windows. Now I fucking hate them! :ROFLMAO:

The new laptop has a large memory upgrade, which was burned in for ~3 months. I still haven't booted windows on it!
I have a bit of expertise in this field, enough to say that, make sure you keep your OS up to date, it’s the only way you can make sure that the latest known hacks have been patched.

I know it’s a pain and forces you to constantly upgrade, but, frankly, the alternative sucks; and not in a good way, which i am always down for! 🤭

I grew up in a house built in 1876 in Nj. I get this TOTALLY!!

I’m sorry you’re going thru this shit.

Sounds like something an organized person could knock out pretty quickly. 🫤

In case you don’t know it, check out this web site:
https://www.valueyourmusic.com

They will prob have to bury my vinyl records with me.
