Gotta go buy some gas for the road trip.

Running errands yesterday I kept my eyes open for gas prices as I was at half a tank. Whaddya know - construction detour. Then out of the blue - missed a gas station that was 28 cents cheaper than my neighborhood only to come across 2 that were 35 cents cheaper. I gassed up and carried on. Felt nice to find such a bargain.

Yes @Photog1rl has a great recipe thread over on the PG. I gave her one or two. We’ve talked about doing it here. She came over and told us what recipe app she used to make it, but it’s deep in the way back machine. I’ll try and find and repost if I have time.

I use Samsung Food app that allows me to pull off recipes from IG and other intweb places. This is how it looks with a copy…

Slow day today. Recovering from a few very windy days with lots of junk in the air. Took a nap this afternoon, but eventually did make it into the garage to start a small project.

It's finally supposed to cool down for a few days here. It's unusually warm, which has ruined the fall colors this year.
There is always next year.

This one lets you keep a list if you create a login. Otherwise another endless supply of ideas you can sort many ways. You do have to mind your weight or be heart healthy in some cases.

Man, I had the damnedest day. Everyone was delighted to see me. I was first to the job. It was raining, rained all day. The siding guys were trying but gave up. The wire butchers hung in there working on outside lifting. We had a pleasant talk. I had to go to the box store. I went to the gas station I had gone to for weeks while working on the other job. The clerk asks, "where have you been???" I told her, and we chatted a bit. The store was fine. The problem calls were fine. Had a good chat with property management. We got some nice compliments from the residents. One of the residents hit on me, kinda jokingly. Stopped at the grocery store for a couple of things and saw the gas station clerk, who hugged me. The landlady is feeling poorly, but her girlcats were welcoming. The boy was his usually standoffish self. At least he was consistent.

Up too damned early. There be coffee. There also be getting stuff to the back door to be loaded. TDK was sitting here a few minutes ago purring as noisily as she does. Ethyl made silly noises while sleeping. It's hard to tell if Panther is around because he's so quiet. A couple of more minutes and then it's time to get moving . . . .

Wolf river. They're really good after a few frosts.

There are so many wonderful varieties. In SE Mi we are seeing Courtland and Honey crisps. More coming in the next few weeks. Apple crisp time of year is very near !

Honeycrisp are really good just a touch tart. They actually have a sweet-tart flavor at the same time. A few days too long and I think they get too sweet. I think the zestar are next in flavor. They're just a bit too firm yet, but the flavor is coming long nicely. (There are ~dozen honeycrisp and ~dozen zestar trees. So we shouldn't run out anytime soon! )

These wolf rivers are known to make you wait until the bitter end of the season. They're really not very good until they're ready. The sweetness is coming along, but there is a bitter flavor that needs to mellow first. To give you an idea, even the deer don't like them now. Once ready, cooked and sauced they are really good. It only takes three to make a pie. Apparently over a pound each is not unheard of. I'm still 2oz short of that.

3 for a pie? I will look for them at the local market!

They are so good this time of year!

I read they do help lower colesterol, especially LDL. They make a great snack. I use an apple corer/slicer and then eat them like potato chiips.
