There were discussions a while ago that mentioned a thread by @Photog1rl called "Chaos in the Kitchen - what to eat and drink"

We've also had folks share some recipes on this thread. Try searching for "recipe"?? I've got many of them bookmarked but no great way to collate or share the bookmarks. Open to suggestions.
Yes @Photog1rl has a great recipe thread over on the PG. I gave her one or two. We’ve talked about doing it here. She came over and told us what recipe app she used to make it, but it’s deep in the way back machine. I’ll try and find and repost if I have time.

I use Samsung Food app that allows me to pull off recipes from IG and other intweb places. This is how it looks with a copy…

Morning, spoonies
Hope everyone rested well last night
quick catch up as I poke away at work
It’s so had to catch a Phillies game here near dc.
They made it difficult to find an Eagles game too.
Back before DVR and streaming I would get requests from friends/family to tape various things for them - sports games and TV Shows (the latter usually from a brother when he forgot to program his VCR to tape a show for his wife).
Then at the holidays I would get packages of blank VHS tapes from them.
May be a contributing factor to why I don't have a TV these days

A gallon! I’m good for a liter and a half or two liters. And that if I start early enough I the day. Otherwise I have to stop sleeping, figure out that I’m thinking not sleeping, then pee and somehow forget what I was thinking about. Or worse turn the tv on and watch something. Which is a real dice roll. I don’t always fall right to sleep if I turn it on.
Ah, yes. The Rules of Hydration change as we age. Getting that balance just right is a challenge. 🚰
Visited a friend of mine who’s in the hospital. That was sad enough. He is ravaged by MS.

But when we got back home and ready to work at the farm, we got word that a friend of our died.
🫂 Give my love to your friend in the hospital! He's had such a difficult time with the MS. ☹️

I'm so sorry for the loss of your other friend. I'm sure that came as a shock to many given his active lifestyle. 🫂 Love that he was a mentor - not everyone has the disposition to do that much needed work.
I'm grateful for the ones he mentored, as I see a shortfall of people who will be able to fill the shoes of him and men of his caliber.
Mentoring is so valuable! Sadly, it's been eons since I heard someone mention it at my workplace. 30 years ago we had actual mentoring programs. I'd much rather mentoring had a revival than, say, skinny jeans
She'll need opposable thumbs for that! 😅😅
maybe some training?
Have to agree.
Compost is good!
You have a use for it. My town doesn't have a program yet. I still collect so it doesn't go down the drain. But disposing w/ other garbage seems a bit in the wrong direction. I keep hoping the composting programs will expand since the larger cities have them now.
On a better note, I had brunch with a group of other WIDs and welcomed 2 new members. We know how difficult it is to meet strangers but we try to make them feel welcome and inclusive. It makes me feel productive and helpful.
🫂 I think this a very valuable endeavor. I recall how lost my mom was when my father passed away. A group like yours would have been helpful for her.
TS Imelda looks like she’s going to head out to sea so all the finger crossing worked.
Win Column!

I have a 1:1 with my boss... why i dont know she is leaving in a couple weeks

I also have an ultrasound at 545 tonight. I did not plan well... i cant eat ot drink for 8 hrs before....oops
Hope both go well today 🫂
I'd be willing to give that a shot. Anyone have the rinds of about 753,658,235 lemons, and a way to haul them here?
Anyone with that many lemon rinds is making Lemoncello 🍋

Can you drink in Qatar?

If I remember you could back in 2010 and also in uae, but it was not easy. Ironically, Dubai airport had one of the largest liquor selections in the duty free (heh heh I said duty).
Yes, at hotel restaurants No free standing bars or clubs. There are only 2 stores you can buy alcohol at and they are controled by the govement, you have a monthly limit of how much you can buy.

Maybe I did not notice the link?
Looks good for later reading.
Check out Russ's. Does not have an index like hers but I have found some good stuff out of there. Although, may Brits and Canadians. Converting to metric in the kitchen is a painful process.

Thanks for the recco & link.
Lots of online calculators these days for cooking conversions. Lots easier than it used to be IMHO

TS Imelda looks like she’s going to head out to sea so all the finger crossing worked. It’s been raining on and off so we’ll get that all day, but honestly we needed it. No rain in almost 40 days.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week. We wont mention the M word.

@Wonderer67 , so sorry for your loss my friend. Prayers out to y’all. What did your friend fly if I may ask?

We have a another week of official Oktoberfest…the MZ will reflect:

I love Oktoberfest. The beer and brats are so good.

We are in a mild to moderate drought as well. No rain expected until next Monday. Around here, when it comes it usually comes hard.

I threw them out underneath my bedroom window this weekend. No skunks there but they a stink all around the garage. Why?
We have a couple (or one very voracious) skunk digging grubs in the yard. Lots of little holes where they're tearing up the grass.

I don't mind that so much, but when old dog doesn't recognize the difference between a "striped kitty" and "regular kitty" and tries to chase it down... We'll just say I'm not a fan of the work involved after that. Especially when it's at 4am...

Although, to their credit they did an amazing job of turning over all of the mulch in the flower garden in the front yard. They must have rooted around there all night, it looks amazing. And all of the mulch is still in the garden! 🤣

FYI:
How to use lemon peels to deter skunks:
  1. Save peels: Keep leftover lemon (or orange) peels after you've used the fruit.

  2. Scatter: Place the peels around the perimeter of your yard, near garden beds, or close to potential den areas, such as under decks or porches.

  3. Replace regularly: The citrus scent will eventually fade, so you'll need to replace the peels every few days or after heavy rain to keep the smell strong enough to be effective.

Have to agree.

The st000pidest plumber I have ever known - and I have known a few - said once that the nastiest kitchen drains he ever had the displeasure to see were downstream of a disposal. He thereby proved for Eternity that even a blind squirrel can find a nut on occasion.

Safe travels!! Safe work week.

Man, I had the damnedest day. Everyone was delighted to see me. I was first to the job. It was raining, rained all day. The siding guys were trying but gave up. The wire butchers hung in there working on outside lifting. We had a pleasant talk. I had to go to the box store. I went to the gas station I had gone to for weeks while working on the other job. The clerk asks, "where have you been???" I told her, and we chatted a bit. The store was fine. The problem calls were fine. Had a good chat with property management. We got some nice compliments from the residents. One of the residents hit on me, kinda jokingly. Stopped at the grocery store for a couple of things and saw the gas station clerk, who hugged me. The landlady is feeling poorly, but her girlcats were welcoming. The boy was his usually standoffish self. At least he was consistent.

I wonder what was in this morning's coffee . . . .

I’d like some new stuff to try. I mostly spend time getting texture and level of doneness right on the grill. I have 3. A gas and 18” Weber on my deck outside the kitchen and a 22” underneath. I use those year round and have them undercover so I and they stay out of the rain while in use. I make great tomato gravy but the secret is in the sausage I found at this one store all the way into Arlington.

Trying to lose weight I kept hearing older people say the secret to long life is eating more beans. Turns out they are more carb than protein. I have found an endless supply of 3 bean dressings to make from ChatGPT. Other flavors and brine methods there too. Even some interesting things to try with the sous vide.

Wonderer gave us all a wonderful tomato sauce recipe here awhile back. I made a couple of adjustments, but they were/are quite minor.

LOsing weight seems to be finding a way to eat less.

How's your feeling better soon L2
My body likes to hibernate during system repairs  Some wild dreams later and the nausea is gone. Thank goodness!! Now to get my brain to give me sex dreams instead of snake dreams  🐍
Do lemon rinds help with Raccoons as well?
I'm sure the Trash Pandas find them delightful 🤌
