The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I woke up with a touch of a hangover, but it sure was fun building it!
The first annual Moonshine Festival was a blast!
The turnout was a bit light, as it overlapped with Bikes, Blues, and BBQ (which has evolved into the 2nd biggest biker rally in the US) but we met some really good quality people!
There were some really great musicians as well!
Wow - sounds like a lot of fun!!

Now if I can only find a meds that helps with my getting up every 2 hours to pee! 😂. Actually I need to speak to my doctor about trying different Alpha blockers.

Ask your doc about a sleep study. Sleep apnea will cause a person to wake up to pee every hour on the hour. It's Nature's Way to get you back breathing again.

Up. Coffee. TDK has canned food. She split some with Panther and then tried to cover what was left. I always enjoy that part. Somehow, there's a sink of dirty dishes to wash.

I'm really glad that those books showed up. Looking at them sitting there in their little boxes, fixin'ta go Out West when time comes, is somehow reassuring or satisfying or some such word. I do have a stack of stuff to move when time comes, but I also have a stack which will go out to the back alley, too.
Throw em out the window....
2 words for you
Paper plates

There's very little stuff here that I'll take with me. Cats, the dresser, five tables (maybe), a couple of chairs (maybe), and a couple of area rugs (maybe). The rest goes to the alley. In fact, there's some stuff going out the door this morning.
Oh i would do some major clearing out..... sell shit and get new stuff tgat fits better..... clothes a few heirlooms from mom and grandma and that is it

I had to take some cherry wood to the local sawmill to get sliced up into 3” boards. It was a good distraction. Big 20-25” diameter logs.

I see at least one good saw log there! I really like how cherry darkens as it ages. Gets such a nice warm color.

It's amazing how much you loose on a tree like that, tho. Especially going for 3: thickness. I don't cut much over 5/4". Some 4/4", and a little 3/4". Lots of oak here and some cherry. It takes time to get the most out of wood like that.

I just cut it to what my friend wants it. He makes furniture and gives me the specs and pays for the wood and a bit on top for labor and gas/diesel.

The guy who owns the sawmill is great. He milled me a shit ton of good 4 x 4 cedar when I brought it to him. It is now the fence posts at our farm.

We also worked out a deal where I’m gonna sell his lumber at our farm and take a percentage. He’s a stand up guy.

Sounds like some great memories!!
I wish I could relive the dove hunts. We posted farmland from a guy who rotated corn and soybeans. Some of each every year. 'We' was a bunch of engineers that worked with my Dad at the mylar mill. Good friends even after my dad died young. My mom now 92 out lived em all. Now days I don't get to see things rural up close like that either. There is a lot to miss. And the "Bob" in that sauce. Related to old southern money, he would come up with some really cool forests to hunt deer in. One I remember missing opportunity at deer for watching the swamp for alligators. You don't hear them. Wild pig were scary for a skinny 14 year old too.

No weddings but
Two funerals
And a hospital visit

That was my Friday night and Saturday. It’s been a tough couple days.

Small world backstory. In a prior life, the company I worked for used a metal polisher and plating company as a vendor. The owner was a character and his shop was in a very rough part of Newark. He hired ex cons, outcasts, people down on their luck and two bikers named Tiny and Sonny. They were in a club called Heavy Metal MC. I think they were affiliated with The Pagans.

The owner was a character. I wouldn’t have thought of that company again really, but a good friend at works wife’s father was the owner. Small world!

So I kept tabs on Gene thru my friend at work. And he passed away last week. So I got to pay my respects to him and the family at a viewing on Friday night. My friends’ wife really loved some of the colorful stories we had abt her dad! And there were many!

Saturday morning, i visited my friend in rehab. He has bad MS and had a super bad flare up 10 days ago. His right leg is basically deadweight. He lost most use of his right arm and hand. But I was glad to see him and make him laugh. Brought a few books for him. Just hoping he can regain some use of his limbs and get back home.

Went from there and met my wife at the local small airport where they had a really nice memorial for my buddy who passed away last week in a small airplane crash. A number of people eulogized him including me. He touched a lot of people and was a great man. He will be missed dearly. Mrs wonderer and his wife are very close friends.

I had to take some cherry wood to the local sawmill to get sliced up into 3” boards. It was a good distraction. Big 20-25” diameter logs.

And last nite we had a small fire and drank some beer.

You just picked them up and threw them in there. LOL
I guess you have some strong springs.

I've always been lucky able to sleep. Sometimes even feeling tired when I don't want too.
After 55 or so I had the pee thing. Constantly waking slightly to ruin a dream or just he feeling my head is pressing the pillow. Pee and back to sleep. I lived with it. Until a few years ago. First I stopped drinking beer. Not on purpose. I was going to have cataracts and thought hmmm. When is the last time I went without beer? I stopped for three weeks or more. Two before the first one and a week or so after the second one. I wasn't in a hurry for a beer. I had started back on the wine. When I has a sip off my first beer I felt it warm my face immediately. Not too long I felt tired. I didn't have any more and I did not miss it. Stopping to pee at night was a little different but didn't get my attention. The next year during a physical the doc advised we could continue no meds for slightly elevated blood pressure and not drinking coffee would help. I stopped cold turkey like I did smoking at the age 34 and the beer the previous year. I had headaches so bad I couldn't sleep. Finally figured out that coffee I made that didn't need a cup was causing withdrawals. Got well and continued no coffee and noticed I was up only 2 times a night to pee. That luxury went away. Long story short, I had done some damage to the prostate from riding my bike. I didn't know it was my bike but enough discomfort where I visited the urologist. End game of that was physical therapy. Kegal's. Look up male pelvic floor exorcises and read whats offered at Mayo and Cleveland clinic. 3 positions and 2 exorcises per position. I think this is what made the biggest difference. And made a differnce in other ways too. Then another year and another physical the doc told me I was fat, like non-alcohol fatty liver and I was dehydrated. Now I try to drink at least 2 liters of water outside of what I normally drink. Aside from water only milk after dinner and wine with. For a while drinking so much water was a problem. Now I often fall asleep 10:30ish and wake up at 8am. Can't explain it. If I do wake up it is uncanny. The clock reads 3:31 or somewhere before or after 4:15. If I eat late I will wake up an hour or two after I fall asleep. That is probably too much wine. When I eat late I tend to snack as I procrastinate, which translates to a whole bottle of wine.
Make sure you are hydrated, lighter colored pee. And give the kegal's a try. Even if its the easy ones you can do sitting in a chair. Once you master it, I find I can do it while driving. It does take a little practice. Which I will admit like any exorcise I find annoying.
There was a time in my IT life where I worked inside big pharma. I avoid medication. Most medication causes symptoms, possibly even the wake up every few minutes to pee one.

I love wood. Cool you own some and get to work with it.

Checked the apple trees last night. This tree is full of these. They've still got a way to go. They're getting closer to being ready, but they're still hard and not sweet enough yet. We have a bit of cooler weather coming, which should help them sweeten up.

crunchy and tart? sign me up!
I'm a Granny Smith gal at heart but willing to step out and try another tasty apple.
well, unless they're disagreeable suckers before they've sweetened up? 🤨
