The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

The paths connected to my hood and out to where they connect to Manassas battlefield are all posted this year through February. It’s a qualified lottery for bow hunting. Relegated to sidewalks and streets has been my latest excuse not to walk.
How far is 10k steps? 7 or 8 miles? Or how long is a 10k step walk? Maybe if I set a timer for half the time I can just walk away. Then reset the timer and see if I can get back home before it goes off again.

My route here is mostly urban. Lotsa concrete and asphalt and cityscape. Fortunately, it does roll, so there's terrain. I have a couple of different routes I use. Today was the hillier one. Ten Kay is maybe 4 miles or not quite. That depends on your stride. This morning took about an hour and a half. The oxygen seems to agree with me.

When I tried to measure it was a while ago. However ChatGPT advised I had an unusually long stride and walked faster than others. I don't want to say how many steps as I cannot remember. It was 7 miles. The route through the woods on the trials I described is in bow season this year. Culling the herd. I do remember it was less than 11 minute miles. When my dad had a heart attack years ago he walked 3 miles everyday after he got home from work. My mom could not keep up. 33 minutes every time. Too late today. Its 2 and i haven't had lunch or got what I need for dinner tonight. All 3 of us. One told me pork, no chicken. So I need to find veggies and something to do to cous cous so it isn't boring. And try not to make corn bread because I really need me some cornbread.

I'd like to get better than 3MPH, but it is what it is.

I did get the roof repair tooken care of - Round One. We get some rain this week, allegedly, so I should get a test. I won't be here, but I can leave a bucket under it and check what happens.

My all done flower bed in the front
Mine is not picturesque. However I did manage to take down 3 or 4 more pots today.
I figured out why I have been putting it off.
I am so chewed up with mosquitos I am going to have to shower to feel normal again.
This is why I used to dislike dove hunting season to start on Labor Day weekend. But I loved the dove. We could take what the fellow posters did not want and have over hundred on skewers for my dad's annual Peanut Boil. Great party. Some years we'd put a pig ol' venison ham on the rotisiarie. Both dove and venison were injected with the famous Mom Jack Bob Dad sauce. Quite the [fun] battle the year they invented that stuff. I still use it today. I was 13 into beer and while they were distracted, joined the party. I also learned that if I stopped by and dropped an ice cube in my Mom's short glass with brown liquor she would think it was the wrong color and add more booze. The next day was the only time I ever remember mother with a hang over.
This thread brings back some really good memories.

Woo - day's going by fast
Why does Saturday always have to be so fleeting?
What's everyone else doing?
I am struggling to lose some weight. I had already eaten and wasnt hungry.... that is the struggle
🫂 You're crushing it!! AND knowing to check in before eating to see if you're actually hungry or not? That's a big one. Hard to find something else when you know you're not hungry but want to eat.
I’ve been trying to lose weight too. I’ve been fairly good at portion control. But the real reason I gained weight occurred after I got laid off. When I worked I walked a lot. Now I get no real exorcise. I find it simple to find reasons not to walk.
A drop in activity without a change in eating habits will bite you in the rearend every time.
New Challenge: Find a reason to walk - 5 min at a time
😋 Cheers, mate!! Oh, how I miss a good Black and Tan!!

There's the ticket - create challenges or make it a game!

 That's a mighty sharp looking bed, Miss K 🏆
That's a damned fine lookin' flower bed.
I cleaned my slutter-gutters while I was high at home.
I agree with your first statement 💯
Confused about the second.
Question: Why the AF would someone clean out their gutters, which I'm assuming involves getting up on a ladder, while they are high?
Deathwish? High Logic (cousing to Beer Logic)? Typo?
Please tell me that's a typo or that you have a ladder-free technique

Sorry I was missing everyone. PC, and Tablet problems. Got it fixed today, so I'm back....
Welcome back, Rj!! 🫂 😍
I was just lamenting being my own IT Support.
Looks like we are both crushing it today!!
You're back and I've (finally) got my scanner connected and working with the new Windows 11 Desktop at home. 🎉 Win Column for us both 🍻

I wish I could find you a good video I saw of a "blowout!"
Once control is lost and thousands of feet of drill pipe are blown out of the hole, erosion happens RAPIDLY, blowing rocks the size of softballs into the sky, which come raining back down.

Believe me, 16,000+ PSI, coming out of a 6-8 inch hole, sounds as if the hounds of hell have been turned loose. I've been there and it automatically kicks one into "fight or flight mode"... with nowhere to go.
OMG! I'd be wanting to get the hell out of there! 😱😱

When one is up a ladder, one is high - er than one was before. Wat calls being up a ladder "getting high." It's the only high Wat does. While he was high - up on the roof - he cleaned the slutter-gutters.
