Upon completion, it was the world's highest and longest railroad bridge, standing 301 feet tall and 2,052 feet long. I looked it up so I thought I would share!

Wow! It was a big ass bridge.

And the trusses holding it up were scattered all over the floor of the valley like toys or Godzilla had walked thru.

Getting over an horrendous day yesterday. Walking in the forest with my family and my daughter’s dog got attacked by two alsatians that tried to kill it. He is a miniature dachshund so didn’t stand a chance. Got him to the vet and abdominal tearing but fortunately no organ or bone damage.

Waiting on the police getting back to me but guessing it’s not top of their list of priorities!

Daughter is traumatised and distraught. Fortunately her dog seems to be recovering, eating and drinking so fingers crossed!

Poor little fellow.... what were the alsatians owner doing when theybwere trying to kill little guy?

So last night I made a reservation at a B&B that looked really nice in Western PA.

Looked nice enough… got 4.9 stars on some websites. 4.8 on others…

We arrive in the place looks a little bit dilapidated, and it was all self serve. There was not a host there, I was texted directions and how to get in. There were two cars there so I figured there be other guests.

When we get there, the place is like something out of the Addams family. It is dark, lots of dark wood, paneling. A billiards room with old school European wall coverings and paintings. Did I mention dark wood paneling? There were animal skulls on the walls. I wish I’d taken pics.

Altho two cars the house is completely empty! But water was leaking from the ceiling in one common area into a bucket. (At least it wasn’t blood!)

We find our room and it was nice enuf, but I could read Mrs wonderers body language. It read: there is no fuckin way I’m saying here. Over dinner I texted my sisters that if they never hear from us again - we were in Warren PA.

So… we find a local place to have dinner and she was really upset. We made alternate reservations at a Hampton inn not too far away.

We went back to the house cuz we brought our bags in… there was still no one there… and from the outside our lights were turned on. We never turned them on. That was it!

We got our shit and got the fuck outta there. I actually thought it was cool and could have paid extra for the place!

The only thing missing was lurch the Butler opening the door for us and taking my hat!

Hump day is over and the slide to the weekend has begun!

I had a productive day. I've decided on one more project for the house. It's just a little one. I have wanted more cabinets for years so I'm having some custom cabinets made to match what I already have. Today I met with the vendor I am probably going to choose for it. Their operation was impressive!

Tonight I was talking with a good friend, telling him all about my day. He said conversations with me were like whack-a-mole.

I might be all over the place when I am excited about something.

Rx drops at the bookends of my day and OTC 2x more during the day. Will need to up the OTC soon as a new medication has been recommended. Side effects include dry-eye. Fix one problem; create another.

The landlady got a new horse once (my buddy), and he fatally injured her favorite horse in pursuit of being the alpha.

I know it's animals being animals, but still breaks my heart that it came with such a high pricetag.

I blame myself partly because he was an indoor kitty, then indoor/outdoor.

Morning all.

Feeling like one of those slow days again today. Weather/allergens are hitting pretty hard here again, probably the mold stuff.

Picking away on the last bag of apples from the first tree to ripen. We've run three batches through the small dehydrator. Not sure what else to do with them. Freezer is quickly filling up. A lot more apples coming in the next few weeks. I think we're going to try canning apple sauce this year. We normally freeze it, but it might be a worthwhile experiment.

Might start getting set up for cider pressing. When all the trees start producing it may be the only option to keep up with them!

My opinion based on what I've done is, pay close attention to the AirBnB rating. People will bullshit each other on a "5 for a 5" thing. That said, some places are really good. You want to be over 4.95 because of the skew of the averages. Basically, a 4.8 is headed for Shithole Status.


I didn't pay attention once and wound up with a half-assed house in a kinda sketchy neighborhood half a block from a women's prison. Whereas I had no trouble, I was glad to have had mah gun with me in case the situation arose. It was around a 4.75 to 4.8. It shoulda been a 3 minus. I didn't rate her and she didn't rate me, either. We tacitly agreed that I wouldn't frag her and wouldn't be back.
